I need my FFxi Fix, Im starting to get the shakes :(.
You would think they could hire Good Programers with all the people playing FFxi. But Oh well! I just hope they dont make us reinstall Playonline, I have all 10 Marco set's used and labeled >:(

(This Thread went from 5 post to 25+ in like 3 mins lol)

Same problem with my client too, don't see a problem with waiting it out.

Apart from the fact that if they do maintenance, and release an update (to ffxi only?) we can't get to it, as POL crashes before we reach the update stage.

I just hope this is server side, or a graphical thing, rather than corrupt POL files. (My macros! My beautiful macros!)

Wish SE all the luck in the world getting this fixed, I wanna get back to my Black mage, Summoner, and CoP ^^

GL SE, hope you fix this, and put the icing on a worth-while patch (for most, condolences/congratulations BSTs)

{All Right!} {Take Care.}

a few things about reinstlling.. it would only have to be the POL viewer.. wich is a muc much smaller install

as for loosing macros and game settings with a full reinstall, they can be saved.. just need to get them before you do it
PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FinalFantasyXI\User
just save that entire folder, after reinstall put it back it viola, all settings saved for XI :)

I'm gonna wait till after work and hope they have it fixed :)

I was going to go up against Diabolos today as well, orz...

Oh well, time to go outside and play I suppose!

Yeah, I wonder what the factor is that decides whether POL will work or not.

I usually don't play in the morning, but I saw a friend of mine on, so I figured, what the hell, I'll login in for a bit.

I go to get in the game, and *poof* POL dies.
3 times...

So, I figure, I'll just restart

It dies again.

I close down any of the programs I'm not using.

It dies yet again.

So, for some odd reason, I tried a few more times, in vain, of course.

Than I decided if there was a problem, it would certainly be on Alla! And it was!

Now... we play the waiting game!

Tried with and without windower, firewall and antivirus, nothing works. :(

I'm having the same problem on my PC as well and I haven't even run the update yet. Just got out of work and was going to do the update before going to bed this morning and POL crashed on me. Definitely a problem on their end if POL is crashing before being updated. Are there any PC players out there that aren't having this problem or are we all SOL with POL?

So far this is the only news

From:FINAL FANTASY XI
Dec. 13, 2005 04:00 [PST]

Details on Current Known Issues (Dec. 13)

Since the implementation of the latest version update on Dec. 12, 2005, several gameplay and system related issues have been discovered. Solutions to these issues are now being tested. Players will be informed as soon as solutions are finalized.

The following issues have been discovered:

- The list of rewards for the "Waking Dreams" quest did not appear properly.
* This has been addressed during the Dec. 13, 2005 3:15(PST) area maintenance.
EDIT* link to POL News^^
http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/polnews/news.shtml

- If the beastmaster ability "Charm" is used on a monster while the monster is disappearing because it was outside its normal radius, the monster may become invisible in some instances.
=> Although the pet monster may appear invisible, it will act like a normal pet monster.

- The help message that displays under "Party" within "Seek Member" in the main menu has not been updated to accommodate the change after the version update.
=> The resulting list is functioning as stated in the update details.

Following is an additional information which was excluded from the Dec. 13, 2005 (JST) Update Details:

- Wyverns will now have the equivalent of the job trait "Subtle Blow," reducing the amount of TP gained by opponents from the wyvern's attacks.

There must be a lot of people asking the same question to Tech support, because I cannot get through right now. It is most certainly a fault with the PoL viewer and as such it *should* update before you are able to properly log in. I got on once, saw I had a message and checked it. Exited that screen and clicked on my "links" to jump to the FFXI main page...crashed. Tried it again after restarting, and I got the same thing.

Hopefully it is nothing major and it will be a relatively quick fix. Hopefully...

POL has been MPK'd -- somebody call a GM.

Glad it's not just me. Sorry it's not just me. {/comfort} {everyone} :-(

Worked fine last night, crashes this morning.
Windows XP Profesional, Dell Inspiron 9300, FFXI + CoP, no third-party software.

Question is, is anyone *not* getting this problem?

I was gonna make that joke >.<
Seriously, though, yeah, I'm getting it too, always at the same point right after POL checks my messages/friend list etc. Annoyed :/

Got the error and reinstalled POL to see if it would make a difference. Tried to log in, got the same crash as I did earlier. So reinstalling POL doesn't help.

Guess we just need to wait and hope they fix it quickly.

I was on last night fine, however, I have had the whole kernel DDL problem happen to me AND my friend as well. I was updating XI before this 12/12 update as i hadn;t played in a while, and somethign weird happened, forcing me to close POL. Naturally it calimed the update failed, and that i would have to uninstall then reinstall FFXI. SO I uninstalled, SMACK, ouch bang, Windows file protection came up caliming DLLS were missing etc - the very problem my friend had, that I just fixed for him by reinstalling windows.

If this happens, BACUP everything whiel you can, because you HAD to format my PC. Repairing windows didnt work because the keyboard and mouse dissapeared on reinstallation. Only thing that worked was formatting and installing. So be very weary, this isnt a 12/12 error, it's there from before =<

Ok just a note about this.

Updated FF last night fine, no problems. Tried to log on this morning and got the Windows error report in POL.

Reinstalled Playonline, it updated fine with new files but still crashed with same error.

Rang up Tech support and the tech guy was having exact same problems on the works system.

I guess we will have to wait and see what happens.

It appears someone is trolling this thread, which is nice.. Rated everyone up to counter it somewhat :| Damn noobs.

I'm in the queue for tech support now, will try and get some answers as to a time scale on the fix.
