As far as I know there is no maintainance going on right now. But I can't get into the game. I am getting the dreaded POL 0260, no network connections.
Obviously I am connected to the internet or I wouldn't be posting this. Anyone else having trouble?
Just got a POL 1363 after the friends list loaded.

Nope, check your cables, reboot your router, that usual works.
That was the first thing I did, but did it again and still can't get in.

Hello.
Im also having difficulties logging in. At first, the friendlist wouldnt load. But after a few tries I got past that. Now it gets stuck at "Acquiring FINAL FANTASY XI server data".

I'm in the same boat as you and have been for the last 30 minutes. Have no idea what's wrong though.

ok, good to know Im not the only one.
Its odd though. Ive never had logg in difficulties in 1.5 years of playing unless a problem announced officially.

Maybe it's an issue with your router or firewall?
I finally got past the Friend's List as well. But now I can't get past that again.
Hopefully SE will make some sort of announcement about it soon.
Nothing has changed on the firewall or router since last night.

Its definately a problem server side because I got the problem after trying to switch characters. I tried to log-in which it would let me but it would then disconnect me after 30 seconds or so after receiving no data from the server. I've since restarted my computer and can't get past the part after the friendlist loads.
EDIT: The error I get is 1363. Something about the server being too busy.

me too....but I logged out from FFXI to POL for 1 hour.. When I returned, I I logged in FFXI. But I recieved error message: 3113..
This time got past the "Retriving Messages" before sticking. We can only wait and hope and secretly /fume
on the thread above (about the ffxi error) i mentioined the bt master socket i was gettin this and error 3113 and i got my BT mastersocket sorted out and it worked again...
In english please what is BT mastersocket?
Apparently it's a UK DSL provider.

Yeh, I started a thread about FFXI-3113, and if I'd been patient enough to wait when the Friend List didn't load, I'd have got POL-0260 too. :P Actually relieved it's not just me, hopefully this will get fixed soon. As I posted on my thread, a file check on both POL and FFXI returned with no problems at all, so I guess we all just have to sit tight.
EDIT: I'm on Ragnarok, if that helps anyone.

I guess i could go do the laundry.... but i do that while playing lol...... or I could go clean the living room... but I have no idea what to do with everything and if i put it somewhere mom will come in and fuss about where i put it.

Same ruttin' problem here, can't get past the last stage of XI's little startup... Same with Asura and Shiva.
I see other's are having this issue as well, which kind of relieves me from the feeling that my Friend list must've finally blown up from the strain and not its inaccesible...
For some odd reason it would always stick me to the "Retrieving Friend List" tag before giving me the error...
However, if you have time, don't stop to insist and log off, log in; eventually POL will let you in. Happened to me the last two times... (I'm sure it'll boot me out soon enough for daring to open my mouth too soon now)
