Dynamis drop chart by day and moonFollow

#1 Jun 28 2006 at 8:18 AM Rating: Good
Well on Leviathan we have to many Dynamis shells now, and we are tryign to figure out what really effects the drops rate.

Recently a LS got 29 drops in Glacier. Dumb luck?

Is it having lots of THF main and sub THF?

Is it having thf or /thf using maxed mogenhancement: light?

Is it based on moon phase?

Is it based on Day of week?

Is it dumb luck?

Is it paying 13.00 a month instead of 12.95?

So after seeing all this added information, I still would like to get at least another 3-6 months of info from another 8 LS's and we can compare notes.

Nah we already use a lot of BLM so winnign is easy, this is about how to get mroe AF instead of random money or relic weapons.

My first visit to Beaucedine netted nine pieces of AF2, including two Cleric's Briaults. We've not managed to repeat that number. Our shell tends to do its best to have a THF or /THF in every party; I'm not sure it really helps, but it certainly can't hurt.

I think the secret to AF2 happiness is to level Beastmaster. You have almost no competition for the drops, so you can quickly have a complete set. The only hassle is listening to everyone complain that "lolBST" dropped instead of something they wanted.

Hate to say it Halifirien, but the Bst thing isn't always true. My Dynamis LS has 5 Bst in it, and while, say, 17 War AF2 peices have dropped since I joined, only 6 Bst peices have. Bst AF is the rarest and one of the most heavily contested peices for us. While I do believe we're the exception to the rule, as more people level up Bst, the ease with which Bst AF2 is obtained will definitely change.

Every single Dyna I have been to there was at least 2 people BIDDING BST af..

I think everyone has been doing Dyna so long that the only thing they have left to bid on is BST af... My BRD AF is easier to obtain than my BST af..

Last week my Dynamis group did San d'Oria to farm AF but we only ended up with 2 AF peices. Kinda stressful considering we were there for a really long time.

I suggested jokingly to my alliance, as we waited in the chocobo stables, that the beastmen weren't going to give us anything until they had tasted blood. Up until that point nobody had actually been KO-ed.

Lo and behold, a large train was pulled and 4 people were taken out by it. As the first person died so did a beastmen and we saw 'you find a Cleric Cap (or whatever it's offical name is ^^;) on the 'Orcish Dynamis Monster Guy.'

My alliance got a pretty good laugh out of that.

Please please if you're going to reply with 'We did so and so and got # amount of drops', say how many ppl you entered with and how many thieves. ;x I'm interested, because lately we've been having rotten luck, but we've only been going in with about 20-25 ppl, and like 1-2 thieves.

29 is absolutely obscene, and it's so much, I'm almost close to just disbelieving it. :[ The most I've seen my ls get was about 13-14 in Bastok. We got almost one of every drop and a couple of repeats. We've been doing this for well over a year and a half. But 29 in beaucedine?? My word. I'm stunned.

I'm pretty sure having thf in each party does contribute, but who really knows. Until someone keeps a tally of what is what, when a piece drops, I guess we can only speculate.
#15 Jun 28 2006 at 10:03 AM Rating: Decent
well we did windy the other night got about 8-9 drops, about 50% of the LS tried sub thf or thf main. the rest did normal jobs and subs.

Usually we have 3-5 THF main and about 5-8 /THF.

Typical drop rates are from 2-6 in ice areas, and 1-13 in city

did bastok a few days ago. i think we had maybe 27 ppl total including just one thf. (he of got the 1 thf relic that dropped). we got a total of 9 drops. not including weapons. stopped counting those but i think everyone had the chance for a relic scythe =P

can't remember exactly what dropped but i'm pretty sure: mnk, nin, blm, rdm, smn, and a bst body lol, which there was no one there to lot on. it was almost left to auto-sort cause no one needed/wanted ^^

dynamis seems to be pretty random except that after MB dies we always get more drops.
#18 Jun 28 2006 at 10:37 AM Rating: Decent
ya its preety standard for everyoen to say drops increase after MB dies.

Only thing I notice to change AF drop rate is most melee to sub thf. And killing stuff after boss has no effect on AF drops. Sometimes alot drop after boss, but that seems more like luck.

29 drops in glacier!!!! Holy cow!!

My Dynamis LS has had many theories, ranging from having a THF in every party to sacrificing one specific member for drops. Some have speculated that the moon phase has something to do with it. I personally have no idea. =/

Bastok seems to always drop tons of AF every time we go there. Never less than 10 pieces, not counting the weapons of course.

We did Jeuno this past Sunday night, and the drops matched or exceeded what we've ever gotten in Bastok. The drops were:

4x RDM
2x NIN
2x WHM
1x THF
1x BRD
3x MNK
1x WAR
1x DRG
1x BLM
1x DRK
1x RNG

We had a full 64 people (doing a whole month of northlands so everyone showed up to make sure they all had cities finished), and only 3 THF's. I don't remember how many were /THF, but I know we didn't have a THF or someone /THF in every party.

Someone even paid attention to the moon phase. We entered on Lightsday, Waxing moon 52%, and finished on Watersday, 62% Waxing moon. Did that make a difference? I honestly don't know.
#21 Jun 28 2006 at 12:14 PM Rating: Good
Most we've ever had was in the 20s, also in the cities. The most in the glacier was 9, and the most in xarcabard was 6.

Our rarest AF has been Samurai and Dragoon (I have the only wyrm armet that has ever dropped in the last YEAR), and our most common have been BST, MNK and WAR.

Go fig.

We usually have 4-6 THF in the different alliances, and we joke about one of our PLDs needing to die in order for drop rate to increase. The funky part is, it usually DOES increase when HE dies. :)

BST doesn't seem so common anymore. Since I got my Monster Gloves from Xarcabard--which was amount a month or so ago--I think I've seen one BST thing drop.

But I'm fairly convinced moon phase has little if anything to do with it. It was new moon during our entire last run at Xarcabard and only two things dropped. Of course, it could be that new moon works backwards in the Northlands; but I've had it with theories.

I've been leveling RDM in a LS static. They're insane. I'll probably find myself squarely in 10th place on the RDM pecking order within a week. ^_^

This was my Dynamis LS's best run ever, 12 AF2, 4 silverpieces, about 600 coins total. The run was done during a First Quarter Moon, most melees subbing Thief, and myself being one of two Thief main and kiter, was in a party of Black Mages that would often finish off the monsters that melee would be fighting.

Well. We got a lot of AF2. Too bad they were mostly jobs no one needed desperately. Again. And went for low bids. ...Even one poor warrior piece that nobody wanted had to rot.

However, we got four... Count 'em... FOUR Montiont Silverpieces!
(Names Withheld)
Cleric's Cap[WHM AF2 head]
Valor Gauntlets[PLD AF2 hands]
Warrior's Calligae[WAR AF2 feet]
Bard's Roundlet[BRD AF2 head]
Summoner's Pigaches[SMN AF2 feet]
Warrior's Calligae[WAR AF2 feet]
Scout's Braccae[RNG AF2 legs]
Melee Hose[MNK AF2 legs]
Summoner's Pigaches[SMN AF2 feet]
Melee Hose[MNK AF2 legs]
Scout's Braccae[RNG AF2 legs]
Autolot/rotted - Warrior's Calligae[WAR AF2 feet]

Additionally, because of a trend I saw from personally tracked information, I had changed the way I was kiting the mobs that day to stay as close to the monsters that were being fought. Previously, I would keep the monsters far away from everyone else, for their safety lest I die; however I was confident in my ability to stay alive that day because of evasion skill merits. There's usually only 2 thief mains on each run, so having another thief "Within experience range" and "Within the party that kills the monster" may have helped drops. I'm waiting for our next non-Northlands run to try this technique again.

And for the record, if Moghancement: Light has anything to do with boosting Treasure Hunter, my Treasure Hunter is broken. I've had overwhelming light energy in my mog house for a long time, and my droprate for nice shiny things has still been a crap shoot, and I keep rolling snake eyes.

welp something is weird , I am noticing the thf & /thf affects it by about 2-3 extra drops a run, but we tested a manaburn style. Found that the more Weaponskills used on a mob the less likely it will drop.

Sounds retarded but has anyone else found that the more skills you use on a mob the less chance it drops?

It has no effect.
Please tab back to FFXI.

THF, Number of members, time spent in area, is the ONLY way to effect drop rate.
Though Full Moon does seem to effect it, but not proven.

What the hell? Why does everybody think every single thing in Vanadiel is a direct result of the food/jobs/moon phase/time/whether you walked your dog this morning or not. Hey guys, ever hear of chance? Luck?

Edit: I was saying this generally, as certain factors do in fact affect drop rate. But things like Moghancement: Light and people trying to solve the "HQ mystery" **** me off.
