Allakhazam was very honored to send two site administrators to attend Square Enix's 2008 Premier Site Summit for Final Fantasy XI, held July 25th in El Segundo, California.

See story for full details: http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/sdetail.html?story=14462

Keep watching for our Developer Q&A Wrap-up and your chance to win an autographed Final Fantasy XI Piano Collection CD!

Edit: MD called it. I hoped for Monday, he said Thursday. Kudos to you!

Hmm, you'd think they could have at least sprung for a second vehicle. That thing looks terribly crowded. Also, you should have found a way to get that cutout of Lion out of the building. Usagi would have paid you quite a large sum for it I think.

I think I'm too obsessed with FFXI when all I did was scan through the links and determine "this is not the droids I'm looking for".

I'll keep scanning the board for the actual questions and answers and droids.

I really, really, really enjoyed both reports (Thayos -- I LOVE your writing style >.>;) and Pikko had absolutely hilarious pictures.

Why didn't you snag the Lion cutout! lol.

I always notice those really cool plush toys that SE employees seem to have around the office. Where do they get those, anyway?

The address sign for the building is actually pretty cool looking, so Thayos and I decided to take pictures in front of the gigantic 999 sign. To the right, you can see me in front of it. I joked with Thayos that someone would Photoshop the numbers to be upside down to prove that us Allakhazam people really are the devil. Now that I've said that, I expect it to be on the forums within an hour. Chop chop!

Loved both of the write-ups for different reasons. As others have said, your writing style is great, Thayos!

Thayos's write-up is definitely fantastic. Amazingly enough, his recollection of CoP is my favorite part.

Sounds like you guys had a great time! I have a question about one of the pictures of a merchandise display.
In the display there appear to be action figures or statues of each of the FFXI jobs, almost super-deformed looking. Do you know anything about them? Are they going to be for sell? I can't find any info in the SE merchandise site.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by super deformed looking. Are you talking about the little figurines all standing next to each other? If so, I don't think that is FFXI specific merchandise.

I'm sorry, 'super deformed' refers to characters with little bodies and big heads. The ones in the pic aren't in the extreme like some, but the heads are a bit big for the bodies.
I thought I saw a dragoon in purple AF, which is specific to FFXI as far as I know. I'm not looking at the pic right now, so I may be wrong. >.<

EDIT: Now that I look again, many of those characters look to be from FF3 maybe. The dragoon-looking one on the bottom still seems like a FFXI AF Dragoon for some reason to me. 2 rows above and the right there is a FF3 Dragoon I believe.
Never mind. @.@

You're probably referring to the Final Fantasy III Trading Arts set. It includes characters as the Dragoon, Red Mage, Devout, Knight, and Freelancer jobs. There's also a set of FFIV trading arts with Kain the Dragoon, so you could've meant that as well.

All of these are purchasable at a pretty reasonable price (~$18 per set) at SE's offical store. I've got a couple of them. Smiley: grin

Thanks for the info, EtherealX. I edited my above post at the same time you were posting yours. :)
It takes a while to post from an iPhone, heh. I guess I was right about them being from FF3, I recognized them from the game book artwork on my DS game.

Give me a wave on Fairy next time you see me (Brit). /wave

The only thing I didn't like about the sets that SE sells on their site, is that they are incomplete. I bought the FF3 trading arts set on my honeymoon and they also offered black mage & dark knight in the random boxes. When I came home, I found on SE's website they only sold the set that had 5 of the 7 figures.

Thayos has a hell of a writing style. Visualizing my own COP runs while reading that was awesome. I know what you mean with that feeling you get when you hear the hum and see Al'Taieu for the first time... :D

The prices don't really matter when the words SOLD OUT are there. </3
