* The forthcoming version update is scheduled to feature the following job adjustments:

o Dark Knight

+ The effect duration of the job ability Last Resort will be increased from 30 to 180 seconds.

o Ranger

+ The recast time of the job ability Bounty Shot will be reduced from 5 minutes to 1 minute, and a successful hit will occasionally enhance the effect of Treasure Hunter.
+ The job ability Barrage will launch an additional projectile at level 90.
+ Accuracy calculations for Barrage will be eased in proportion to the maximum number of shots.

o Puppetmaster

+ The following automaton attachments will be added:

Name Description
Heat Capacitor A fire-based automaton attachment.
Functionality: Erases all Fire Maneuver effects to restore TP.
Power Cooler An ice-based automaton attachment.
Functionality: Reduces MP cost in proportion to the number of Ice Maneuvers in effect.
Barrage Turbine A wind-based automaton attachment.
Functionality: Erases all Wind Maneuver effects to occasionally grant a Barrage effect.
Galvanizer A lightning-based automaton attachment.
Functionality: Increases chance of countering in proportion to the number of Thunder Maneuvers in effect.

+ The following weapon skills will be added for the Valoredge and Sharpshot frames:

Skill Name Frame Effect
String Shredder Valoredge Delivers a twofold attack.
Critical hit rate varies with TP.
Armor Shatterer Sharpshot Delivers a fourfold attack.
Additional effect: Weakens defense
Additional effect duration varies with TP.

o Job Traits

+ The following job traits will be added:

Job Trait Level Obtained* Effect
Tranquil Heart WHM Lv.21
RDM Lv.26
SCH Lv.30 Reduces enmity gain when casting healing magic.
Stalwart Soul DKN Lv.45 Reduces HP consumption when using Souleater.
Dead Aim RNG Lv.50 Improves power of critical hits for ranged attacks.


*The level indicated is that at which the trait will initially be obtained. Trait effectiveness will subsequently increase at higher levels.
+ Certain job traits will see their maximum level of effectiveness adjusted by equipment, magic, and/or job abilities.

o Other Adjustments

+ VIT will play a role in calculating damage taken from critical hits.
+ Experience point penalties when KO’d will be eased for characters level 75 and below.
At levels 1–30, the penalty will be removed entirely. At levels 31–75, the amount of XP lost will be lowered as indicated in the chart below.

Interesting stuff. Wasn't expecting major job adjustments but this is some nice news.

Sad about Dead Aim for RNGs as often critical hits based on ranged attacks are used to calculate pDIF/attack/defence stuff. If the trait adds in a lot of uncertainty, it could make discovering more attack related stuff a pain in the behind.

25% job ability haste from Desperate Blows

25% haste from gear.

Double march + haste: approx 35% haste


DRK can hit the 80% cap for 3 minutes out of 5 without use of 2 hours.


Maybe it's a good thing DRK doesn't have a crit WS because this is insane and a crit WS on top of it would break the game.

It's just Critical hit attack bonus for ranged attacks. It'll be +5% to critical hit damage and +8% if there is a second tier before lvl 90.

Nice change to exp. Slightly meh on job updates, dont get me wrong those jbos needed a buff of some sort but just seems a bit weak. WHM trait is interesting though. Also whats up with VIT calculation for taking critical damage now, and does that effect mobs as well.

The trait is meh for WHM... Cure 5+6 spam = no enmity issue anyway.

It would be more useful for RDM & SCH, if it weren't for the fact that nobody invites them to heal anyway, due to the fact that anyone subbing /WHM gets the same levels of Cure as they do...

Is this a sick joke? Whm already has low enmity cures and Sch and Rdm don't even heal. This would be useful if Rdm and Sch had oh I don't know a cure above a war/whm.

Berserk with 25% job ability haste is not "meh". And that 25% haste is applied outside of the gear and magical haste caps. Even without outside haste DRK will be able to hit 50% haste for 3 minutes out of every 5. And with haste and marches they can hit the 80% attack speed reduction cap without the use of Soul Voice.

This is huge, huge boost for DRK.

And also, SAM might no longer be the best sub for DRK. With berserk + fully merited last resort /WAR will allow +25% JA haste and +50% Attack for 3 minutes out of 5. That might come out to more overall damage than /SAM.

If they plan on giving RDM and SCH multiple tiers of Tranquil Heart, then they may be getting better cures in the near future.

It'd be interesting if a rework in the enmity generation of Cure V was on tap.

To be fair, it's still probably more useful to WHM than Shield Defense Bonus.

Would DRK not even get LR for 3 min out of 4 min and 10 seconds by LR recast down?

I hope the Stalwart Soul does not reduce the output DMG of Soul Eater. It is also a bit weird that they add Soul Eater at lv 30 but readjust it with a jobtrait at lv 45. They could have adjusted it without the need of a new job trait.

Since when is DRK called DKN?

It's practically guaranteed that it won't be. I don't know of any job traits with direct penalizing effects, other than unintended side effects such as Evasion Bonus on THF when you're TRYING to be hit to skill up parrying, or something like that.

It will most likely just work inversely to "enhances Souleater effect" gear; instead of increasing the damage done without affecting HP lost (what the gear does), the trait will work by reducing HP lost without affecting the damage done.

With Last Resort recast fully merited, thats 3 out of every 4 mins 10 sec, or 72% of the time. Pretty awesome. Looks like I might be on my DRK a little more frequently now.

Rangers and Dark Knights are usually overlooked for Abyssea stuffs so this is pretty neat.

This is especially good for Rangers, now it actually has some use rather than a placebo TH.

Neat, but sort of redundant if you have the Regain hand-to-hand for Automatons.

Meh, not much use out of this as MP is pretty abundant and you can just D.A.D to get MP back in a pinch.

Made a lot of suggestions in the feedback forum for something like this, glad it's finally coming.

Hehheheheheh, now THIS is what Puppetmasters can REALLY have some fun with!
Ducal Guard/Razed Ruins/Roaring Laughter or Gnarled Horn and set the Dynamo... once again with the Regain hand-to-hand you can use slot in a Dark Maneuver to trigger Cannibal Blade. Be interesting to see what some Automatons can totally **** up after this update.

I agree it is silly that any /WHM job has access to the same cure spells as RDM & SCH. It is silly to say that any of those jobs are as effective a healer though.Those 2 jobs bring more to the table than just Cure IV. Only the remaining mage jobs and a DNC could really be considered a viable replacement. The reason no one invites them to cure is b/c WHM is head and shoulders above the rest and often required ob some fights.

I do think this new trait might be a signal of future updates to both RDM and SCH. I always thought the easiest way to implement a higher tier cure would be to remove the enmity bonuses from Cure V and simply add a trait that covers all cure spells. WHM would just get a lot more tiers.

Ive tanked a bunch of stuff lowman as RDM/NIN through damage and cure 4, but now half my tanking ability is gone.
