Ok, what did they break this time?

Was just having a lucky streak. Free carabosse, 2 gems, my own carabosse, 2 gems, actually got a gear drop from T4 Voidwatch, and then... maintenance? ; ;

The October Version Update is Here! (10/25/2011)

October 26, 2011 (JST) Version Update
NOC_EU wrote:

Event-related

Voidwatch has undergone the following revisions:
The planar rift on the second floor of Delkfutt's Tower is now located at F-5 instead of J-5.
It is now possible for players to fulfill victory conditions even if they find themselves disconnected when the enemy is defeated. This can be accomplished by examining the accompanying riftworn pyxis upon reconnecting.

Battle-related

 [dev1030] New Battlefields
New Burning Circle Notorious Monster (BCNM) battlefields have been added.

BCNM Picture

Locations, entry requirements, and other conditions for the new battlefields will be as follows:
Orb Type	Price	Location	Battlefield Name	Restrictions
Phobos Orb	30 Kindred's Crests	Spire of Holla	Empty Hopes	Level: Any
Time: 15 min.
Participants: 6
Spire of Dem	Empty Dreams	Level: Any
Time: 15 min.
Participants: 6
Spire of Mea	Empty Desires	Level: Any
Time: 15 min.
Participants: 6
Deimos Orb	50 Kindred's Crests	Spire of Vahzl	Empty Aspirations	Level: Any
Time: 15 min.
Participants: 6

* Players victorious in the battlefields at the Spires of Holla, Dem, Mea, and Vahzl will receive items that may, in turn, be traded to the NPC Shami to claim rewards.

Resolved Issues
The following issues have been rectified:
The issue in which players were occasionally unable to warp back to their home nation from outposts after changing their nation of allegiance.
The issue in which the VNM Aello would stop attacking under certain circumstances.
The issue in which the VNM Akvan would erroneously drop Moon Amulets on occasion.
The issue in which armoury crates for the BCNM battlefield Taurassic Park would occasionally fail to spawn.
The issue in which the Abyssea - Grauberg NM Amphitrite would unintentionally switch from absorbing physical damage to absorbing magic damage.
The issue in which incorrect item names were displayed during conversations with certain Voidwatch NPCs.
The issue in which Japanese text was displayed alongside the English during part of a conversation with the Voidwatch Officer NPCs.
The issue in which the help text for Scroll of Break did not include "DRK Lv.95".
The issue in which the item Habaneros could not be put up for auction.

Known Issues (English-language version only)
• A line of Japanese text will occasionally appear at the conclusion of new battlefields containing the Anamnestic Vault enemy.

Strange, this already works. I've disconnected twice during Voidwatch, and both times I was able to reconnect, rejoin, and receive rewards. The first time it happened, I actually came back to nothing but a chest. Everyone else had left already. I'm surprised the chest didn't depop when the last person went out of range, but it was still there waiting for me.

I'm glad they are fixing Taurassic Park though.

Currently, you cannot receive rewards if you reconnect after the chest has disappeared. I believe this maint will allow you get rewards even if you don't reconnect in that period of time.

What was so broken about dropping moon amulets instead of more petrified logs? They're worth about the same. Unless it was broken because it was dropping moon amulets instead of the body piece, in which case SOB, I've gotten like 3 amulets!

I suspect it went from emergency update to "well, this patch IS ready ... since the server is coming down anyway ... UPDATE!"

Well, last week's maintenance sounded like it was supposed to have a version update. Only there was no client update, and absolutely no patch notes to go with the maintenance. I'm guessing they meant to roll this update out last week, but had to push it back for some reason.

That's what they were aiming for. I've always liked the references they make with some of the BCNM names, like "Whom Wilt Thou Call?", "Toad-al Recall", "The Last Orc-Shunned Hero", and so forth.

There are some real classics in the Assault mission names too: Saving Private Ryaaf, Desperately Seeking Cephalopods, Marids in the Mist...

ToAU had some pretty great witty writing all around, actually. There's the awesome Three Men and a Closet quest, and Naja really amuses me in general. When they went serious mode there were some great moments too: the Luzaf portion of the mission storyline, the excellent Serpent Generals story quests (absolutely worth doing for story alone), etc.

"Whom Wilt Thou Call" has to be the best BCNM name ever. ^_^
