[dev1045] Crafting Skill Cap Increase

The forthcoming version update will feature an increase in the crafting skill cap and a host of accompanying adjustments.

These adjustments represent the first phase in a planned overhaul of the synergy and synthesis systems, as outlined below.

The Future of Synthesis and Synergy

The respective roles of synergy and synthesis in obtaining items will be reenvisioned. Rather than a gradual shift in importance from traditional synthesis to synergy, the new vision will preserve and further develop unique roles for both forms of item crafting, with a wide variety of potent new recipes to be introduced.

The ultimate goal is to allow for equipment that offers players greater customization by armor part and situation—such as Level 75 Relic, Salvage, and Limbus armor—to be crafted and augmented through synthesis and synergy.

Characteristics of Synthesis

Crafting impressive standalone items
HQ synthesis will be reflected in significant attribute bonuses
Crafting base items used in more advanced item recipes
Chance of losing ingredients upon failure

Characteristics of Synergy

Crafting items in mass quantities, as well as exclusive items
HQ synergy will be reflected in increased yield for mass-production recipes
Will specialize in adding value to items via augments, etc.
Ingredients (with the exception of fewell) remain intact upon failure

March Update Adjustments

As the first phase in the planned overhaul of synergy and synthesis, the following adjustments will be implemented:

Maximum crafting skill will be increased from 100 to 110, and the base cap from 60 to 70.
To accompany this change, the option to relinquish craftsman status will be replaced by the option to replace artisan status.

New synthesis recipes will be added.

Ending a contract with particular guild will no longer result in the loss of guild points.

The synergy crucible key item may now be purchased for 100 gil.

[dev1101] Adjustments to Assault: Nyzul Isle Uncharted Region

Players who defeat the NMs that spawn on floors 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 five times will be rewarded with a key item corresponding to that section.

Talking to the NPC Berangere at Aht Urhgan Whitegate (L-9) while in possession of one of those key items will allow players to receive one piece of equipment from a list of possible spoils obtainable in that section.
*The key item will be lost once the exchange is complete.

The amount of tokens required to purchase temporary items has been reduced:

Category	Previous Amount	Current Amount
Low 100	50
Medium 200	100
High 300	150

It's okay, Alchemy still won't have anything people want at 110. ;)

I think they need to re-envision Synergy and Synthesis to the reality that no one wants to spend 1 year learning a craft anymore.
The skill up rate needs a serious adjustment.

Skilling up in crafting to me is one of the most unfun aspects of FFXI. It's tedious, losing ingredients is annoying. I just want to be able to make bullets for my COR. It takes twice as long to learn how to make the bullets as it does to level the job, get it geared and skilled, but hey, that's "balance".

Until then you are at the whim of the 300% markup synergists of the world.

There's more information on the config adjustment located here. Due to the tables, it would lead to scroll bars that everyone doesn't like.

I followed up with the development team about the possibility of displaying information that is already available on the client-side and they mentioned that they will be proactively looking into ways to display party/alliance TP, MP, and other information to coincide with the UI revamp timing.

Increasing this amount of information sent to the client means an increase in the amount of data traffic, so the reason it is difficult is due to the fact that we are considering the risk of lag this could cause.

The same reason holds true for some other requests we have seen, such as displaying party member’s status ailments and other information.

Again, we realize the necessity for these things, but please understand that at the moment it is very difficult to do.

inb4 (justified) ********* about how all that information is already sent to the client and just hidden from us normally (because windower is capable of displaying it for us)

Meh, we dont need to know peoples tp now..... We stopped skillchaining 6 years ago!

Ungreatfullness aside I would be glad they inplemented this. It's nice knowing that I could skillchain with someone knowing where someones tp is at. An extra 1-3k dmg here and there is nice if I know when someone is going to ws and not have to say "<tp> X%" every of second.

You just know that if there weren't already 3rd party programs that could show that stuff, the dev team's response to questions about showing TP, etc. would be to lie and deny that it's even possible.

Alrighty! Just got this fancy list to share with you showing what we can have displayed information-wise since it is already sent to the client. This way there is no need for guessing!

Circles denote information that is already displayed in some way shape or form on your client.

1. Party/Alliance Member Information
â—‹ HP
â—‹ MP
â—‹ TP
â—‹ HP %
â—‹ MP %
× Mog House invitation flag
× Mog House area that you are invited to

2. Information that is only sent to yourself pt.1
â—‹ Max HP
â—‹ Max MP
â—‹ Main job
â—‹ Main job level
â—‹ Support job
â—‹ Support job level
â—‹ Experience points
â—‹ Experience points until the next level
â—‹ STR
â—‹ DEX
â—‹ VIT
â—‹ AGI
â—‹ INT
â—‹ MND
â—‹ CHR
â—‹ Main weapon attack power
â—‹ Defense
â—‹ Elemental resistances
â—‹ Title
â—‹ Mission rank
â—‹ Rank points
â—‹ Home point
â—‹ Home nation

3. Information that is only sent to yourself pt.2
â—‹ Ability recast time
â—‹ Battle skills
â—‹ Magic skills
â—‹ Synthesis skills

4. Information that is only sent to yourself pt.3
â—‹ Limit points
â—‹ Merit points
× Assimilation
× Flags for having at least one level 75 job
â—‹ Status of experience points (capped or not)
â—‹ Mode selection (experience points/limit points)

For all of the above, without worrying about the display location or method, it is in fact possible to display this information. On the other hand, information besides what is listed here would be very difficult to display.

As stated in my last post, the development team will be looking into displaying information such as MP and TP for party/alliance members to coincide with the UI revamps.

If you have any other feedback regarding what you would like to see displayed, please refer to the above list when making suggestions.
