Can't use advanced searchFollow

Hey, I have noticed that ever since before christmas that every time I go to do an advanced search(I have tried at many different times during the day and evening) on the FFXI forums I can't because the site tells me "Forum Search temporarily disabled due to high load.". Now, I could understand that being the case over christmas break and all but shouldn't the server be back to pre-christmas break loads by now? I have premium membership and I have made sure I am logged in. Search is one of the reasons I chose to get the Premium membership in the first place. Any help or info would be greatly apprecitated.

The search is disabled while they integrate the new servers to support the increased stress due to EQ2 and WoW.

They had to make a choice:

A)No search, but the rest of the site works.

~or~

B)Ability to search, but the site constantly crashing.

I am glad they chose A.

I don't recall there being a *formal* announcement about it. You may not have missed anything.

I may just be a stick in the mud on this one, but one of the Advertised features of Premium Membership is:

Quote:
Advanced Search of all Forum Posts and Site Comments

I used a 30-day trial to test this function and liked it very much, so I bought a 6 month subscription (I thought it was only 3 months, but it's good for 6). This was the breaking point for me as I do not use *any* of the other premium features (besides my title).

Any word on when this will be fixed?

Out of curiosity...why did the site decide to go with servers from Apple?

FYI, Kaolian says (in the "Server Status" thread) that the servers arrived like a month ago and some have been installed (one old one was replaced and is being rebuilt) but the search is also being rebuilt because certain terms can bring down the entire site.

I personally think a refund is in order. I have paid for 2 months of service, the money of which has literally been wasted. I may as well have just thrown it in the trash. The forum search disabled has been going on for too long. I understand the technical difficulties but hey, cost of doing business. Promised service was not provided. I'm not one to complain but 2 months (maybe even longer) is getting a little absurd. It can't possibly take 2 months for apple to ship some servers.

From something Illia wrote on 2/04/05

Tried turning a newly tuned forum search on this morning.

I promptly locked up 2 servers, which took most of the day to undo.

I'm sorry but it's going to be a little while longer before I can make it accessible to anyone.
