We have decided to do this in my main, and it sounds like it's going to be fun. Even though the idea isn't too terribly original, it's one worth throwing out for others to bring up to theirs if they think it's going to be something fun.

Plain and simple, Linkshell Secret Santa. We are going to do random names, set a spending limit, and deliver the gifts through the auction house on a set date. Some ideas for gifts include crafting items, partying food or other consumables your favorite ls member uses on a regular basis.

Again, I know it's not too terribly original, but one most of the members in my ls seem to be wanting to do, so it may be fun for other ls's to do as well.

We put it up for a vote inside of our linkshell's forums. Right now we are in what would you feel comfy with stage. Most are saying 5-10k since it can be easily farmed. But mid next month we will be making the poll to let people decide and after that, hopefully the application to randomize the names.

I would be interested in knowing how you work it out. The DBS linkshell has over 100 members and it's hard to keep track of who's who. I think it would be a great way for us all to get to know each other better. Thanks for the suggestion and not minding if people borrow the idea. What is your linkshell's name so you can get proper credit?

OOSG since OSG was taken. We come from a forum called Old School Gamers. :) (most of us are old ;) )

Depending on who works up the application, it may be one that we can share with others to use. I can't make any promises, as we have a few different ideas for the name selection. But right now a name pairer or even a database that randomizes the names seems like the two best options.

You could always go the classic way and get a list of names of participants, split it in two, put the first half on a piece of paper and the second half in a hat. Draw the names and pair them up that way. And the person in charge would be responsible for letting everyone know who they are buying for.

Those are just a few of the ideas of how we thought about handlng it.

Thanks Tiffie. Since we have so many people on our linkshell (we kind of swallowed 4 other linkshells in the past couple months), this was a great idea for everyone to get to know each other better. I haven't seen more than 30 people on our linkshell at once, but I know we have over 100 members. I don't know if all are going to participate, but forwarning to Jeuno, there is going to be an invasion of blue linkpearls on December 19th.
Everyone has been so excited about this idea, and now we all can have something to look forward to over the next 2 months. I'm even going to help our lower levels farm, since a few are in the stages of needing every penny they can get. If you want, check out our forums (/points at sig) under DBS Linkshell and see how I worked it out on our end. If you have any input or advice, let me know.
Glad you are feeling better. :)

That sounds like fun, I think I'll relay that to my LS members... although we're not very big... at all =P

But still! much fun to be had by all. Thanks for posting the idea.

I'd love to know how it turns out for everyone after all is said and done with it. It's definately something that any size ls can do, and being smaller may be an advantage in it being easier to organize.
