Description

Beneath the frozen surface of Beaucedine Glacier lay the ruins of Pso'Xja. The meaning of these extensive tunnels are unknown, though the towers that contain their entrances lead some to believe they were once inhabited by the Ancients. The Tenshodo control these dark ruins, and the decision was recently made to open the ruins to adventurers.

Points of Interest

  • The entrances to the different areas of Pso'Xja are at F-7, I-7, J-8, H-8, G-9 and H-10 of Beaucedine Glacier.
  • The area of Pso'Xja accessed from G-8 is capped at level 40; the area accessed from J-8 is capped at level 50; and the area accessed from H-10 is capped at level 60.
  • Promyvion - Vahzl is accessed from the Pso'Xja tower at F-7.
  • The notorious monster Golden-Tongued Culberry, which drops the Uggalepih Pendant, spawns at J-9 on the third map.
  • A Pso'Xja Pass is required to enter Pso'Xja.

ha ha, messing around with my thf sub on (was 74 PLD/15 THF) i found the NM's. a buddy of mine ran into them the other day but didn't fight them. i gave it a whirl, and killed em both with about 400 hp and 9 mp left XD

silly me, i didn't think they "switched", i thought they were both immune when they acctually switched >_< ugh that coulda save me a lot of time lol. i think the fight took me all in all about 11 minutes ^^

How can you enter this area? I have COP but wasn't able to enter the area. I get the message "the steel gate prevents you from moving any further".

Are you sure you actually registered it as opposed to just installing it? Those are two totally seperate tasks. You will need to go under Extended Content (or something like that) in the POL viewer to register the expansion.

Hope that helps.

Entered PsoXja from the tower closest to the ranguemont pass zone. I was a 62 thief, and I got there before my blm and paladin buddies showed up to start exploring.

Anyhow, inside I immediately saw labrynth lizards (same critters in gustav), and new tonberrys called Cryptonberrys. Cryptonberrys didn't seem particularly difficult, we killed maybe 6 of them and got 3 rare/ex rocks to drop. I want to say they were called Oradynites or something similar. Anyhow, the tonberries and lizards all conned EP to me at 62. So I invis on by them and look around a bit. I go up a flight of stairs and see a Stone Door w/ a green light overhead. Clicking on it says "there's a green light overhead." How useful. Anyhow, 2 rooms back, there's a ??? in the wall. I walk up to it, hit the ??? and the door slams shut, sealing me in. Then 2 NM dolls spawn. Fun. And I left my warpscroll in my other pants. Not fun. Anyhow, after about 4 minutes, they finally finished me off, but had I been wearing my hairpin, eaten food, and not given up hope immediately, it would have been one hell of a fight. I don't think I could have beaten them both, but it would have been CLOSE. Anyhow, the trick w/ the golems is that only one of them can be damaged at any one time. They do this aoe-looking ability, and then they switch. One becomes invulnerable and the other one can be hurt.

With a blm, pal, thf, we made short work of them, though they were really, REALLY magic resistant. After you killed them, re-examine the ??? and get key item Blue Bracelet. Remember the door with the green light? Well the blue bracelet lets you open doors with the blue light.

So we move off. There's droma (EP magic pots), some aggro fatbats, some aggro dolls.

The really fun part:
Treasure Chests are all over the place.

The Really *not* fun part:
9/10 of them are actually mimic-type monsters. So as a thief, I pounce on the first chest I see, and before I can even pick the lock, the thing has mimic-ized and started gnawing on my leg. It uses all the favorite mimic abilities, like box trap (mean aoe poison/stun) and of course, Draw In (i.e., no running away). Plus they seem rather physical resistant. (they don't like fire, though >=D) So anyhow, important distinctions: Treasure Coffers, when botched, may turn into a monster called "mimic". Pso'Xja Treasure Chests are sound aggro and turn into a monster callled..."Treasure Chest."

Anyhow, we killed 3 or 4 EP-DC treasure chests. Didn't get a single drop. Redmage nearby said the chests drop chest keys. So after hearing that, the next chest we saw, I dove at it with lockpicks, picked the chest and got the map of Pso'Xja (god, I love my job.) I'm guessing what happened was that the chest I picked was a legitimate chest, and not a mimic chest, but there is the possibility that you have 2-3 seconds to unlock it before it mutates into a monster. More testing will have to be done. Also note: an even challenge chest made us escape with 40-70 hitpoints each left. It still had about 65% of its hitpoints. Yeesh.

So, undaunted, we headed back in. We fell down a hole or two, found another golem-trap room and got our green bracelets (same pattern, 1 vulnerable, 1 invulnerable). We went through that green door that I mentioned way back at the start of my post. Right now, we're on the map in the left column, 3rd down. That led to a hallway and a dead-end (G-8) with a Crystal Latticework or some such thing. anyhow, it was a green clicky thing. You hit it, and it makes these 2 squares appear in a room a floor below you that lets you cross a chasm. So we booked it back, fell down a hole, and crossed the "bridge". That leads to...The Elevator. We got on, it takes us down, down down to the bottom, we get off at: The Avatar Door. a cracked and crumbling door that didn't do anything when you clicked on it. This just screamed "Plot-Related" to me. Beyond that, unless you took the elevator back up, the only exit was a teleporter that warps you back outside to the glacier near the ranguemont pass zone.

Anyhow, hope this helps.

Dont feel too bad. I got pummeled by the dolls too. I just have to say, Reraise is your friend. They had a 3 minute un-spawn time by my count, so, I accecpted my raise, ran back out the door, and got as far away from that ??? as i could get.

I got rocked by these 2 dolls also. Glad to hear you made it further in than I did LOL.

Just for info purposes:

Gargoyle-Kappa and Gargoyle-Iola (I think it was Iola...and i'm positive about Kappa.) are the names of the first set. I've got screenshots on the way :D

They are named Gargoyle Kappa and Gargoyle Iota, after two letters of the Greek alphabet.

Entered Pso’ Xja from the tower @ (F-8) in Beaucedine Glacier. If you look at all the maps on this page, we were in the last map in the right hand column. Observed the following:

Maze Lizard. Easy Prey to 53RDM. No aggro.

Snowball. Easy Prey to 53RDM. It's "explosion" casts "Frostga". Rather than the normal status text however, it said "Lebarge is Frost." The effect lasted appx. 1 minute, and took 10hp/2sec. I would suggest NOT fighting these unless you can use Stoneskin to absorb all the DOT. They're weak against fire and ice it seemed. Blizzard did about 85dmg, Fire II did about 190 dmg. This one was looking away from me and didn't aggro. It may still aggro sight and magic like other bombs.

Diremite. Easy Prey to 53RDM.

Nunyunuymi (possibly Hunyunumi). Notorious Monster. HUGE. I could walk in between it's legs with room to spare. A 75 (he cast Thunder III) taru rdm was soloing this thing. It used a Dispelga ability that dropped my invisible. It also used some sort of "Shield Break-ga" and a Bind-ga ability. The bind lasted no less than 30-45 seconds. Whenever the taru landed bind and got out of reach, this thing was swatting at me. It hit me 3 times, 2 w/o Stoneskin. Each hit took about 80hp. The Thunder III the taru cast took about 1/5th of it's HP. The -ga abilities didn't do much damage. All in all....this guy didn't seem all that tuff, even with his size.

I submitted all this to allakhazam as well.

I was doing the Curses, Foiled A-Golem!? quest when I first went into Pso'Xja. I entered the tower at I-7 where Torino-Samarino is and the tarus kept talking about Pso'Xja so I decided to go in and have a peek. It didn't cap me (as a 65 RDM) but I cast Sneak and Invis to keep away the aggro. The first three types of mobs I saw were Snolls (more blue-white bombs), Labyrinth Lizards, and a Cryptberry Cutter? Not sure on the last, but it definitely was a Tonberry... scared me though, so I took off before any of my spells wore off!
Wheres this map at?

With all these floors, I'd hate to think what the heck drops the key in the place..... Can you get the map in a quest like Attohwa Chasm, or is it in the chest?

So word is that the level restrictions vary by tower, and that the first tower you encounter(coming in from Ranguem... that tunnel) caps you at 40? Well I went into that same tower at 66, and I was uncapped. The mobs were all EP to me. I'm wondering if my game just glitched, or if the cap is removed under special circumstances. I don't remember the time, day, moon phase, weather, etc. but if this happens to anyone else, you might wanna take note.

Nope it's the 2nd tower on the way to xarcabard that has the level 40 cap, the farthest one to the west also has no cap.

You know, it'd be nice if they put the quests for the maps directly on these pages... Like, maybe inbetween 'Connected Areas' and 'Quests for'... Obviously they got the maps somehow... tell us how to get them. :P *Please*

They got it off some JP site...it was floating around the forums.

And the JP site? they probably snuck a little peak at the CoP files.

Just wondering, are all FFXI Graphic file stored on our HD? If so, it would be possible to access the map without actually getting them In-Game.

One interesting thind the people I went with found out is that different gates lead to different level caps. I'm not sure if that is true for all of them, but the tower closest to Xarcabard has no level cap restriction. Be mindful of when dropping down the holes though, as even a level 75 will get aggro'd by Thousand Eyes.

Incorrect.

This is located in the Beaucedine Glacier. The first horototo ruins type tree you come to as you come down from the Xarcabard zone had a Gate in it. If you select the gate and enter, you'll have a L40 restriction on you, and everything inside is T or higher.

I ran into the following mobs: Gazer (T), Diremite (T/LE w/ sniper's rings), and Snowball (VT). Snowball is the blue/white bomb you've seen before.

I wasn't able to go much further because the whm I was with disconnected leaving me without sneak, so I instant warped.

Diremite's detect by sound. That's about all I can say.
