Vana'diel Bestiary: Nue  

So I was killing Nue for the fourth time, announced it on LS, and complained that I could see his dang fangs right in front of me, so why don't they drop? LS mate gave a lol, said give Nue a good punch in the face to knock em out. lol lol etc. Fang again didn't drop. But that got me thinking. Knock the fangs out, eh? A quest that rewards a mnk item, eh? So on Nue #5, superstition got the better of me, and I finished Nue off hand-to-hand (as 75brd/33thf heh). What do you know, Nue fang dropped heh. 1/5
I also, on my second Dodo fight (but 6th spotting >:o ) decided to finish her off h2h. {Dodo Skin} O

Just got it. As a RDM/RNG. popped after second PH was killed. I didn't kill any goblins or statues. Just killed Tigers and set off sharpshot>> waited 5 mins Nue popped and Nue fang dropped. 1/1

I always read about people who get so damn lucky with NM's. I'm usually not that type of person. This NM was an exception.

Showed up to camp where pretty much everything have been killed by a lvl 71 blm/whm. He moved his character to the side against the wall and looked like he was afk. I killed the Tundra Tiger twice and the third spawn was Nue. Killed it and gotthe drop as 66RDM/15THF. Less than 15 minutes of camping ^^

So today I attempted to fight Nue again. I brought my roommate, who is a 75THF/NIN, along with me for TH2 and assisting me on the claim. Our friend who is a 69WHM/34SMN showed up as well. I was 59MNK/29WAR. After waiting about 2 hours for Nue to pop, he finally did!

I voke-claimed him, we destroyed him, and he dropped it! FIRST TRY!
I'm guessing the TH2 helped. But yeah! First try! I went 1/1 on Dodo, too.
Next up... Morbolger.

Basicly I hate my father... Nue changed all that. After getting my first claim @ 90min respawn, I egearly awaited for the next spawn.. here I am almost 5hrs later, and I have yet to see another Nue. -.- 1/1 dodo 0/1 nue, havent gone for the vine yet. ;-; why would they do this to us mnks?

Sub thf for this one. It's a very small pop area so wide scan is a waste. If you have other competition, the PH repop is almost exactly 5 minutes. I personally flee at the 5 minute mark and run circles around the middle structure. Don't forget it can spawn just out in the canyon too.

In japanese folklore Nue is a chimera-like beast that brings bad luck and can turn into a black cloud. The only time I've seen it pop, personally, it was during dark weather. Anyone else notice that or think it might be possible?

First of all TH2 helps! I'd suggest getting thf 45+friend to help.

Solo as 50-55 thf depending how well you play thf ^^

sleep bolts acid bolts and bloody bolts work well and stick 100% of the time with me.

I solod as 56thf/27nin without dropping below 85%
The most annoying thing is paralyze, it hits even with shadows up and stays for a good ammount of time to a 56thf

His cyclone rips through 3 shadows so you gotta watch out for that.

He has around 2,300-2,500 HP the, PH in the area is only 1 of the 2 tigers, if you kill them enough 1 will eventually respawn as a living statue, if you kill that statue it has just a good a chance as turning into a tiger as it does back into a statue, this tiger/statue in no way effects spawn, might as well leave it alone.

The spawntime on this apears to be between 1 hour - 3 hours though i have read people saying it has taken 5 hours; i am weary of the idea that this can be.

I am also supersticious of the idea that using WS or killing gobs can in any way effect droprate OR respawn time, i was killing goblins after first pop that i lost claim to from pt of 4 higher lvls, and was killing gobs for 1 hour 30 mins getting mythril coins before nue popped again, i lost claim again. Anyways they left, i was still killing gobs, exactly 12 kills of the 1 tundra tiger in the zone and about 1hour - Nue popped again. I claimed with no competition, acid bolt, sleep bolt, sneak attack, melee for 60 seconds, sleep bolt again and sneak attack again followed by a Shadowbind WS to recast utsusemi i only lost about 90-110 hp, got drop 1/1.

This is not as diffucult as a fight as morbolger and alot easier on the eyes.

I killed morbolger with about 150+hp left after using bloody bolts, fight lasted about 10-15 mins as thf 56 because i ran out of shihei and often had to shadowbind and bloody bolt him.

i would suggest being 60+ for morbolger if you are a thf. 50+ for nue.

0/47 on this fang....... for a friggin rare/ex fang..... after Morlborger this should be a 100% drop..... 0/47 *twitch~twitch*

1/2 on dodo, 1/13 Morlborger (claims that is) and 0/12 on Nue....

5 minutes. Kill a tiger, wait 5 minutes for the next to show up, kill and wait.
No other mob to kill, statue or goblin or goblin tiger.

Simple. Oh I subbed thf too. I got him 2x within 2 hours. No other camper was there

Killing tigers around the tower for around 45 mins before he popped, got the drop: 1/1.

There is around a 5 min repop on the tigers meaning that you do have enough time to keep the dolls in the tower dead. I cant really comment on whether or not the tiger that shares a spawn with a doll is a PH or not, but I dont see why it wouldnt be.

Was 67thf/nin, no TH gear or food, Iceday and 10% moon.
