Dropped of 5th kill. First night he spawned right on time at 20:00 and 24:00 and then just before 4:00. The 2nd night I got the drop at the 20:00 spawn, but no luck on the 00:00. Since I was already there I waited for the 4:00 but I never saw him. He can despawn very quickly the 3rd time as day breaks.
So 1/5 since I've tried in a LONG time.
I dont have a leveled THF for Treasure Hunter, just WAR30/MNK15 :)

I'd honestly say I get the mantle on an average of 1/3. He's not heavily camped on my server anymore (he was 4 years ago though) so I can get at the very least 1 of the 3 pops. The other day I was 3/4. That was pretty lucky :P
Anyway, i've been camping this guy for years and have noticed something. With my 19THF/WAR mule I made just to camp Spook, he cons Easy Prey and I get the drop pretty often (see above) However, with my main who is a lvl50-ish BLM/WAR I have to kill him 10 or 15 times before I get the drop.
Now, I have don't have TH1 on my BLM (but TH1 shouldn't make that HUGE of a difference anyway) yet my THF's droprate is extraordinarily higher.
I honestly think having it con as EP or higher increases droprates. And this is speaking from 3+ years of Spook camping.

I killed this guy last night as lvl 14smn/7blm used carby as my summon got the travler's mantle 1/1 now seems like it is rarely camped now on siren server. i've been the only one in King's tomb all night.

Just as I was about to fall asleep on Watersday Spook spawned, I looked at him and said, "you suck". Then sneak attacked him for 434 dmg. Dropped a Tree Root and the "Traveler's Mantle". This means I'm like 1/85 now on him! I guess I just had to talk dirty to him.
Still, if you want this drop... make sure you have a few nights to waste.

Well, I farmed Spook from Windsday to Earthsday, that's 2 spawns per night at 20:15 and 0:30 and I haven't gotten the drop. I'm farming as a level 50 THF and he spawned 2 times per night no matter what monsters I killed or didn't kill. I didn't get the traveler's from him after 14 tries. That's 0/14, a waste of a night.
Never did Spook spawn at 3:00 to 3:30, that just doesn't happen these days. Also the drop rate must be very low now. I killed the crypt ghost 10 times and got the drop from him/her, but never have I been able to get the Traveler's to drop. I've tried about six times of farming spook now. i like this dude.... he spawns at EXACTLY 20:00, 24:00 and sometimes 03:00-03:30

Very reliable on the times. It pops quite often, in my opinion. I used to camp this thing back when it was 100k each. Now it's 20k on my server. I'm thinking of doing it again because I want a Vermillion Cloak.

I swear just cuz ur a THF everyone thinks ur just farming for gil. I went to camp this guy today so i could get the TM for my SAM and I get all these dirty looks and ppl start kiting bats in front of me. WTF im not even wearing a SH im just in AF. /cry

yeah he does drop it im 0/18 on him but a THF just got the drop, i saw him equip it as he left /cry i hates this game sumtimes

Yeah spawnz, I have noticed this to on Fenrir server a bot named Tremblingarm.
Guys, does anybody know if spook still drops the Travelers Mantle now?
Since it's not listed on drops and some people have said they have claimed the spook and got the drop I am not to sure.

For Pandemonium players; see if Cursedvagrant is camping this mob. I guarantee this sucker is using a bot. I will not say how I know this but I would like others to make observations. Try to claim the Spook whem he is there. Several complaints have gone to SE by many others. At the time of this posting, nothing has been done.

Been campin this guy 4 hours 0/8 i've also been walking back and forth between the jelly dudes 0/3 which i verify there were two of and that crypt ghost... he doesn't seem to be spawning though and i'm like the only 1 there so i dunno whats up with him but i found out if you don't kill spook before 0:30 will be no third spawn

I wanted a TM for my Ninja, and decided to try getting one from the Spook rather than buying it. I headed out and got there at about 1:00. The Spook was unclaimed, and 4-5 hits later I had my TM ^^; It was very simple and even though the TM only costs 25-30k on Remora now that's still 25-30k I saved by taking the 20 minutes to kill this easy~peasy mob.

I decided to spend a little time camping Spook on my main job WHM. I was LV47 at the time I believe. Anyway of course we all know the spawntimes (20:00, 0:00, and 3:00-4:00). I did wait for a Full Moon however, I just seem to get better drops then. With my thf being only LV9 (-.-;) I just subbed BLM so I could warp out, lol. There was an RMT there, but I didn't care. I have Flash to claim and I've beaten Provoke (which is what they were using) before on casting range alone. I missed first claim cause I was on the phone. Got second, (no drop), 3rd spawn at about 3:34 and missed that claim due to the stupid Tombstone being in my Line-of-sight. ><
Waited one more game day...

Just to clear things up, it's obvious why Spook isn't an NM.
Yes, i know that there is only One of him, but that doesn't mean that it's a notorious monster. Hell, it respawns within minutes. He technically could be any other mob, because remember, Bogys also only appear at night. If you were to kill a Bogy right when it spawned, then it would reappear at around 0:00 as well. Therefore, Spook is no different than a Bogy just that there is only one area where he spawns.

Last night, I logged in just before midnight "for 20 minutes or so", ostensibly to check on the status of my auctions at the Sandy AH. Being in Sandy, and a bit bored, I decided to run to Ranperre's Tomb and try my luck on the Spook. I arrive at 3:00 (game time) and overhear two n00bs chatting excitedly about getting the drop and "getting the heck outta here!!!1!1!!elevetyone!" Cursing my luck, I read on to see they were doing somersaults over finding Orcish Scales for the rank 1-2 mission. Figuring I still had a chance, I ran to the tomb and waited until 4:00 and didn't see the spook.
I recognize that the 3rd spawn is somewhat rare and so I decided to chill in the tomb for a day while prepping for bed, taking out my contacts, and doing other such interesting tasks. After a bunch of AFK time, I /clock'd to see it was now 19:00 and still there was still no competition in the tomb. In fact, after searching I was surprised to see that I was the only person in the area. At this point I started getting excited, hoping against hope for 2-3 uncontested Spook spawns all to my greedy 18 WAR/9 MNK self. 20:00 rolls around, skeletons pop- no Spook. Odd. 0:00 rolls around, still no spook. 4:00 hits... no Spook. I was positioned right behind the tomb and was tab-spamming between the "???" (hole of death for those under 50) and Enchanted Bones and never once saw the Spook. edit: It also helps if you're in the right area. Hoy... This disappointing camp lead me to surmise that at least one of the following is true
1) Lizard Gear is ugly as sin, and the Spook was probably too busy laughing at me to spawn properly
2) Something changed in the March update concerning the time or location of the Spook spawn (highly unlikely, considering SE probably would've announced it)
3) I am destined to never get my greedy little hands on a Traveler's Mantle.
4) I have the worst luck of any camper in the world.
5) All of the other Spook campers knew something that I didn't, or...
6) I really should spend less time on this game... ^_^

It seems that the overcamping (on Remora, at least) has brought down the prices- 25k atm in Windhurst and San D'oria- which, in turn, is decreasing the amount of campers. While that's bad news for people camping this thing for gil, it's pretty good news for the rest of us who actually want to keep the item!
And I realized my error last night :) Not being from the area and all, I didn't have a map and tried to wing it. In two hours: 1/3 on drops, 3/5 on claims. My SAM will be PIMPING in the dunes.

You just have the worst luck. I camped Spook for the first time last night and I claimed it 7/9. I got the Mantle once out of seven tries. I'm going to try again tonight.
And some people say that people who camp NMs to sell at the AHes for gil are worst than RMTs? Puhahaha! Those who claim that ARE RMTs and are mad that someone's butting in on their livelihood.

That is a very narrow-minded view. From what I have seen, known RMT who sell this sell it out of Bazaar to avoid taxation. Outside Lower Jeuno is so clustered with sellers...
I would sell it in AH....except, well, I am 0/9 on drop. Gave up and I used my Night Cape for those levels instead. Same Eva, just no Agi bonus.

Dude im a spook master... this dude spawns every night at 20:00, 0:00, and sometimes between 3-4. I am a good claimer, pretty much the best not to brag tho. info is that the Travelers mantle is now at about 50k on asura. Do not use the macro cheats, or u'll lose it. Instead use a voke macro and wait about half a second after pop to voke or u wont get it. 1 second is too long and someone else may get it. It used to be worth 500k back in the day its not too worth it now.. the drop rate isnt too great unless you have th.

This was a great NM like a 2 years ago when i was a noob and the drop was worth 200k.. but now it is not only over camped but not worth much at all on hades and Leviathan servers (40k).. tell me is hours of campin and hearin a bunch of jerks argueing the whole time worth it?
