Just to let you all know the beast killer effect activates even if the shield isn't equipped just needs to be in your inventory tested this today im a level 67 paladin and i was intimidating flies and dooms in caederva mire today it also is affected by the level of your chr cause i would average 4-5 per fight.

I personally think this is a great shield and i havent even equipped it yet.
Works without being equipped.

LMAO! Wow, you're a real genius arent you? How did you EVER get to this level? The "Doom" you mentioned (I assume a Jnun, since you said Caderva Mire) is UNDEAD... PLD NATURALLY has UNDEAD killer, this is NOTHING to do with this shield! FLies are VERMIN, part of the Insect family... once again, NOTHING to do with this shield! The BEAST family includes mobs such as DHALMELS, TIGERS, etc.... I hope you feel really good about posting ridiculous info when you have no clue what you're talking about.
Works without being equipped.

Ok the killer effect on this shield is HORRIBLE!!! When compared to bibiki seashell, that you get at least 1 or 2 intimidations per battle while this you're lucky to get 1 intimidate every 3 hrs. Cant wait till i lvl and get to use my koenig sheild. Stick with diamond shield this is a waste of time and money

Edit: p.s. almost forgot to mention thank god i didnt have to pay for this it was a gift a friend had sold his SH+1 and felt generous now i know why they laughed when i asked for this

I believe the reason most PLD get this shield is for the enmity +2, not for the defense. Enmity is hard to come by in a shield.
not a bst trait

Beast kill is not a Beastmanster triat, actually. Check ouy the listed Beastmaster traits on this web site.

Eh, yes it is. Just because it's not on 'this site' doesn't mean anything. Alla is not the end-all-be-all FFXI data warehouse. There are plenty of errors and missing information because most of it is user submitted. BST gain Beast Killer at level 70. Ask any 70 BST or check any of the other websites out there.

teng is right. it really doesnt make sense that a bst can not equip the shield, but then a gain, it isnt really a bst type armor. as for a the paladin aspect though it makes perfect sense, more enmity better tanking. Does the beast killer effect also raise the amount of damage you do to a mob? or perhaps lower the dmg it does to you? someon plz tell me

What Beast Killer does is it has a chance to "paralyze" the mob you're fighting if it's hate is facing you. It will read a message like "<insert beast mobs name> is intimedated by Romperstomper's prescenses". So an attack wont go off by the mob. Thusly giving it a paralyze like effect. I can't say for sure if it enhances attack against beasts, but I think not because enhacement such as Beast Killer comes on armors; well you don't attack with a shield do you unless it is Shield Bash.

yea i've seen someone named god. and it said something like sabertooth was intiminated by gods presence lol

it gives you the ability, beast killer, so you will intimidate beasts

Hmm I always hunt tigers in batallia for mu gil and after equipting thie shield i get this notice from them.

The Sabertooth tiger is intimidated by teng's presence.

I was huh??? Doesn't that comment only comes from undead. Could this be the effect of the enmity+2 and Beastkiller effect?
Bst skill on pld/drk?

Beast killer effect is a Beastmaster's skill and yet BST cannot equip it. What does Pld and Drk gain from equipting this shield?
