O.o Wow. Way to go offtopic. xD Not bashing anyone here, but those are the sorts of conversations that need to stick to the regular forums.

And poopy! I wanted to submit a fashion shot of this great looking blade. Oh well, still looks good on him (but I think it looks 10x better on me...christ, is that a Hauby he's wearing!? /cry... :P).

Anyway, using this GKT is great. Good high DMG and a decent delay, plus the accuracy+3 is a must and the attack+10 is awesome for when thunder is active. Note to SAMs though. If you're pulling, do not use this. It weighs you down more then you'd think, so mobs could easily wipe you before you get to your party. If you're pulling, use a Dotanuki. A Dotanuki is rather easily obtained through a quest in Rabao involving Desert Venom, quest can be found here.

If you don't feel like doing the easy quest, then buy the Dotanuki. Raikiri goes for 30k on the Sylph server right now, Dotanuki goes for 5k. Good luck out there my fellow SAMs.

(Edit: Darn my eagerness to post about this. XD Bit of spelling issues.)

Just got this sword and the movement speed decreasing is actually quite funny, it's like a half gravity effect, so probably best to keep it unequiped whilst moving around areas.

Quite a nice weapon and certainly one of the best (if not the best) at this level range, high damage with low delay, a nice accuracy bonus that reflects that of the Gold Muskateers Uchigatana. The added attack during thunder would be a lot more useful if you were going to xp or fight mobs/nms in areas where Thunder is frequent.

Hey man, I spent 31 lvs as a whm/war before switching to a drk/war. I never had any problems with mp, and i could contribute to melee better than most melee jobs (with a hammer anyway). As long as I had a good tank then there are no problems (but then again, I always have good tanks, inferior players get the boot from my parties.)
-------------------------------------------------
...... LMFAO! Inferior players????? Like people who think they can sub war on WHM?!??!?! Wow, I hope u didn't post ur character name on this, because people will definitely brand you as an "Inferior player".

Here, here!

I leveled my WHM from 20 to 30 purely as a WHM/NIN. I was only booted once because I wouldn't change my subjob, but every party I was in that didn't reject me found to love what I was providing. I generally outdamaged the remainder of the party and not once did I run out of MP.

Never let other people stop you from doing odd things. Do what you feel like doing. That's why this game is so great.

-.-....... Im the only melee whm in the ramuh server that i know off (and if you hit 75 and start that doesnt count) and i will tell you all this... i was a whm/war for a while too and at higher levels whm/war has alot of power. with a capped club skill a hammer can be a devastating weapon. Have you ever seen Hexa Strike.... i bet you havent... i bet you didnt know that side by side Hexa Strike, Rampaging Axe, Raging Fists, and many of the other dominating weapon skills are evenly matched. Just something to think about next time you call a whm/war a noob... do it in ballista and youll be painfully surprised.
RE: Lol
# Mar 15 2007 at 6:42 PM Rating: Decent
first of all, ballista is not an exp pty. and secondly hexa strike is a lvl 65 whm weapon skill. at that level you wont be putting up numbers anywhere near what any other DD can do unless you get some seriously pimped out super hard to get whm DD stuff. i want pics of your claims or it never happened.
RE: Lol

Idk, i guess the str dif at like 30 between a hume whm/nin and a Drg/thf (hume)would not be alot at all (1).

My concern would be that the gear of said whm would be less aimed at the main job of a whm and more aimed at doing a job more spots in the party are devoted to. Kind of like the whole rdm melee debate, if everyone who needs refresh gets refresh and the mob is debuffed and rdm mp is not sucking to hard (regen mp while resting really slowly, and they have to get up to keep that refresh thing goin) and lastly THERE IS NO AOE OF NOTE then im fine with them meleeing. Thats kind of alot to ask, but if your a mage your going to be casting alot (or at least some) and every second your casting a spell is a second your not attacking the mob. This makes tp generation a lil slower, along with that b+ skill, mages dont really get A+ in weapons. All of this together with the obligatory resting between fights would make for very rarely getting a ws off. I know its very rare that i see one of the rdms get his ws off unless its a long fight.

Farming, more power to you. I hear to many Whms pretend they are helpless against mobs that are too weak to them. Mostly the idea of a Whm doing more Dmg than say Drk just scares the bejesus out of me.

Yeah... I'm sure Hexa Strike could compare with Rampage and Raging fists... in the hands of a Galka WAR on a tunnel worm.

I'm not gonna completely bash your style here, if you want to go in and whack a mob in the pt, go for it. Just make sure you don't forget to do your job as a whm, and realize that you're not going to be pulling numbers like DD. </comfort>

Moron...people like you are jerks when it comes to leading a party. You don't know the meaning of diversity. It is true in a party situation that you will want healing more than melee from a whm, but WHM can solo excellently as a whm/war and elvaan do a great job of it as well because of having the best MND and high VIT.

People label jobs and expect you to follow the "trend" and that prevents alot of people from playing certain combos. Lots of good combos are looked down upon because of idiots giving them bad reputation. RDM for example, which I play, is frowned upon for subbing NIN or DRK.

It works even if its not your thing...so don't make fun of people for trying. Plus, whm/war isn't meant for parties you dolt. That's plainly obvious. Even if I can solo mobs and heal effectively as a rdm/nin, it isn't meant for parties because people are skeptical jerks.

The term noob is used only by "noobs" in my opinion because you can't think of a better, more descriptive, or even courteous thing to say.

Ok, i dont know what the hell you're talking about. Nobody cares what you sub solo. Either that or your server sucks, cus i didn't get any "GO SUB BLM n00b!!!!" when i was soloing the last 600xp on my rdm for a lvl as rdm/nin. In fact i met a rdm who couldn't wait to get higher lvl to solo as rdm/nin

And... your post kinda confuses me cus you sorta contradict yourself a bit (unless i misunderstood it) but...
Ok i was gonna say that those "trends" are there for a reason, because they are what works best for a PT, but after reading your post a couple times...
whatever, im gonna post my opinion here anyway
"trends" are there because they are what work best. Of course theres going to be different "bests" for different things, like solo, pt, and such, but if you're going into a pt you're not going to be doing the best for that pt if you bring the best job combo for solo (well maybe it can be the same sometimes...). This (im talking about between solo and pt setup) is because for pt you normally want a specialist, because on IT++ mobs you aren't going to be doing much unless you focus on one thing to do to that mob, and for solo you want versatility so you can hurt the things and stay alive as well. Those 2 don't mix too often.

SSimpson should read that last part.

Sorry if that post caused any confusion on my part. I did not intend to contradict myself and I neccessarily didn't (not in the context you were thinking). I let my hatred for stupid pt leaders get in the way of my point.

Trends ARE separated into two groups. I agree with you there. However, trends are not neccessarily the "best" sub for a job. Most of them are based upon your own opinion. Depending on your sub, people will look down upon if you don't pick the most common sub. They expect you to sub particular things on my server, even if another sub works better in party situations.

These trends are not to be confused with SOLO subs.

Quote:
Nobody cares what you sub solo.

Exactly, sub whatever you want solo. People have no say as to what you can or cannot sub soloing. In regard to the initial post of this thread, whm/war is NOT intended for party situations. Nonetheless, you shouldn't hold a narrow view on what subs are required to be used. As long as the sub is acceptable and works, then why not invite them. If they know what their doing, which people generally judge that by subs anyway, they will not be a handicap to the party. If someone subs a workable job then they more than likely know how to use it. Why sub it otherwise?

Also, regarding people who won't invite cause of underleveled subs. Grow up! Not everyone can spend 24/7 playing FFXI to level a subjob. If it's 1-2 levels under it is acceptable. People have lives. Well, at least I do.

Idk reallistically Rdm is one of those jobs where sub matters alot less, i mean u have cures and nukes. Blm wont really give you more nukes, just those blm specialtys, and a few of those are drk specialties as well. The mp from a "mage sub" is nice but not like a super big deal.

Besides Drk sub is the only way for rdm to ever get stun, to bad its at such a high level.

Point though: Not inviting a RDM with 2 lvls underleveld BLM sub is just stupid. You wont level more than 2 levels in a typical party anyway and if the underlevled sub is not a detriment, meaning isn't missing anything crucial it was subbed for (i.e. Stun), then why the hell not!
RE: Lol
# Aug 08 2005 at 12:30 PM Rating: Decent
Actually, a RDM/NIN or RDM/DRK is good for Gods cause you can use Stun and even kite if need be. RDM/NIN is probably the best Soloing combo in this game(besides BST of course). I've actually gotten more invites me subbing NIN than me subbing BLM. I've also seen RDM/WAR tank through dunes all the way up to Yhoater Jungle. I miss my 4 RDM and 2 WHM party. we had 1 RDM/WAR, 2 RDM/BLM, 1 RDM/WHM and 2 WHM's. We had 5 MB's per sc(Red Lotus Blade > Flat Blade). I think it's time for people to "think outside the box" and not keep the same trends. Maybe i wanna play NIN/RDM because i want to do extra dmg with my en- spells. I'm sick of tanking as NIN/WAR.

Hah...This Katana is so sexy, it makes me want to go SAM. They need a Dagger or Axe of this same effect. The added accuracy is wonderful, and the Decreses Movement Speed would be great for a Thief that gets in trouble and has to {Run away!}! It would put more space between the Thief and the mob.

And it would be a great axe for pet switching on BST. I love it.

It's Rare but not EX, bad idea SE. There's going to be so many people camping it just to sell it. Even more than most NM, because everything there (quifim) stops aggroing at around 40. A better Idea would have been to make it EX like almost every single other drop you added in that update.

Raikiri means "Lightning Edge" and if you've ever seen Naruto, it is also the name of Kakashi's Hijutsu.

Does the Thunder mean during a weather effect attack is +10?

Actually, to nitpick Raikiri is "Lightning Cut" :D But Lightning Edge does sound cooler, and I know TW used that translation for the same word in Naruto.

Well, my imports from Hong Kong are pretty badly fansubbed because of the typos but it says Lightning Edge in just about every episode. I know it literally means "Cut" because Kakashi split a lightning bolt with it.

Also when referring to swords, Cut and Blade are interchangeable. So this weapon could also be dubbed the Lightning Blade.

On a side not, Chidori means Thousand Birds and the subtitle said "it sounds as if one thousand birds are mooing" lol

Japanese subbers need better English dictionaries.

Yea, when you see "kiri" it usually means "cutter" or "slicer". Not to be confused with "kari" which can mean "killer" or sometimes even "cutter".

Onikiri = Demon Slicer/Cutter
Raikiri = Lightning Slicer/Cutter
