I ran around the area the secret room was forever today, and couldn't find a chest...
I then decided to run past the area where the AF ??? is, and drop down where all of the lizards are. I ran around there and almost immediately found a treasure chest. :)
I'm glad I had Phalanx and Stoneskin on... of course a lizard was guarding it and attacked me as soon as I popped the chest - hello chainspell and warp!
Now I'm sitting back and waiting for it to get past midnight in Japan... *sigh* I really hate that you have to wait - I wouldn't have minded trying for my AF3 today too while I had the time. I work during the week, so.. that also means I have to wait til I get home from work tomorrow to even get my my boots! :)

SummaryInvestigate reports of a ghost in the cathedral. WalkthroughYou must be at least level 50 and have completed The Crimson Trial - RDM AF1 to obtain this quest. Before starting this quest, save time by buying a Velvet cloth from the auction house. Head to Chateau d'Oraguille and speak to Curilla. She gives you the key item Old Watch and directs you to the cathedral in North San d'Oria. Enter the cathedral and go down to the basement, and talk to the priest in front of the large piano. He'll ask you to bring him a Velvet cloth. Trade him the cloth to receive a cutscene and receive the key item Old Boots. After the cutscene, go back to Chateau d'Oraguille and speak again with Curilla. Next, head to Crawler's Nest and farm a Nest Chest Key. Mobs that drop the keys include Blazer Beetles, Exorays, Hornflies, Labyrinth Lizard, Mushussus, Rumble Crawlers, Wespes and Witch Hazels. Once you get a key, find a regular treasure chest. On the second map, the chest can spawn at I-8, G-9, H-7 and H-8; or on the third map at I-8, H-8, G-7, H-9 and G-9. Trade your key to the chest to receive Crawler Blood. Note: You must go back to Curilla after obtaining the Blood, to trigger another CS before you go to bury your boots. Next, use sneak and head to I-10 on the second map. After sneaking past a scorpion, you will find a ??? in the middle of the corridor. Examine the ???. ok. i go to I 10 and check the ??? where the soldier crawlers are passed the doom scorp... and it says... "It looks as if something was placed here recently"

You can bury the boots and blood anytime but you can only retrieve it after midnight Japan time? This one part just does not seem clear. Or do you get the AF gear when you bury the items.

I did this last night and it only took me about and 2 hour to complete it. I went with two other people to look for the chest. I already had the key so that made it easier. Now I am just waiting for the time of Japan and I should have my boots. This quest was pretty easy.

I did it, all within 2 hours.. I already had my key so basically it was just finding the chest.. I asked a few parties to be on the lookout for me, but I found it in the big 'donut' room. Now I'm just waiting til midnight JPN time.. -Waits-
So I finally reach 50, being a total hell getting G1 done, but after I'm finished it, my all time goal was to get a dark staff.^_^.....However, since the last update a lot of stuff have being turn either Rare/ex or Ex alone. This makes Gillsellers SKY rocket the price in Fairy... So the Staff cost 500k+ now(T.T)...Anyways..this is about the boots. Today I decided to go look for the chest, I got help from a 61THF/NIN(IxiDeathixi(-.^)b) in case anything goes wrong(which it did). We started in the huge room near the Secret Room, we spend time looking around for a good 20-25minutes, we tried everywhere even inside the Secret room which I saw it there once. So after we had no luck we tried looking around Crawler's Nest with no map..(hehe).. We spent time looking in every tunnel we could enter... Until we came across the room with the Labarynth Lizzard(in this area no one goes only BST to lvl that i have seeing lol)to only died cause Ixideathixi thought they wouldn't aggro us...(they aggro and like all lizards the Link...... use sneak)I dlvl... Lucky there was a WHM just passing by and decided to give us RII which brought my lvl back..(27/8k lol)So once we where fully healed we started searching every tunnel without taking chances, so we both where inv& Sneak. Some how we manage to come out to Rolandberry Fields...(Some other way I guess)So almost giving all hope from finding the chest, he finds it at some room Filled with Exos..Don't know if it's the "Doughnut room" but i'm pretty sure it's was the Exo Room. lol We took on only one Exo and the others...just went to the other side of the room which gave me plenty of time to get the blood. I have burried the boots and the blood, and waiting on Japans time. Over all the Quest is a pain if you have to look everywhere in Crawler's Nest for a Chest, but right now...I can't complain. haha

Can i redo this quest if i drop the boots? ^^;
im in washington state, anyone know what time it would be here if it's mignight in japan? i can't find out where to get the info, and many ppl on the game have told me several diffrent times.

I just found the chest in the room with Exorays. But as soon as i kneeled down to open it, i got aggro, and died.
Worths it though, waiting midnight to get my boots ^^

I found the chest within about 5min in the Exoray room, which is on the inside of the donut. Unfortunately when I popped the chest they all aggroed and killed me, but it was a justified sacrifice...

What sort of nonsense is this?!
I died twice, de-leveled and must have ran in a circle *cough* square *cough* 200 times. Yes, I was in the "doughnut" room...and if anyone would like to show me a picture of a square doughnut and prove they exist please do so.
By the time it was 9:00 PM I was doubting the existence of a lot of things. Things like the treasure chest not really existing, same with square doughnuts (and I am right about that) but most of all I doubted/re-realized I don't have enough of a life because I can spend eight hours of my day looking for a nonexistent treasure chest...which...if it ever existed was probably stolen by UFO's and buried among the ruins of Atlantis. That is how UNREAL that stupid chest is!! I know it probably spawned in other areas but I can't find the monument thing in Garlaige Citadel so no map for me. I have used the map *forget user name sorry ><* provided and thank you for that. That map has been immensely helpful. Still yet, it's touch and feel and sometimes (once) I ended up upstairs and I have no idea if I should be there so I retreated into the land of doom scorpions and rumbler crawlers and exrorays...and did anyone else know that beetles aggro to site? I was told everything in there that aggro'd did so to sound...that resulted in my first warp out. Any who...maybe today someone will have found the treasure chest and allowed it spawn some place reachable for me...WISH ME LUCK!! I am sure to die loads and possibly even lose 51!!!

Last night in my exp party I made friends with 2 ppl and one of them changed into a 72 Beastmaster (complete with Courier Carrie ^-^!!) and they helped me find the blood and I buried them and picked up the boots at 8:00 AM (GMT -8:00 whatever time)

the monument for the selbina clay quest isn't actually in galiage citadel, but you have to go through there and come out the other way back into sauromogue champaign in order to get to it.

If you have a moderate lvl thief, you can pick the treasure chest after activating the quest. You do not have to be on RDM main to get the key item from opening the chest.
I found the key but i am not a RDM. How can I get this quest and receive the item?
Um, why would you want the crawlers' blood, or the boots if you weren't RDM? They're rare/ex and only RDM can use them.

No, not right spot.
Easy way to find it:
Enter crawlers nest.
Follow the path all the way to the first drop off.
From the drop, count the second path from the right and go down that path. If you hit Nest beetles your went one to far on the paths, if you hit a dead end, 1 to few on the paths.
Follow that straight until you find the ??? in the middle of the path... This is in a tunnel, not any open rooms.

I wonder if I can solo it...I get help so much from my friends I really wanna do this one on my own and it sounds easy enough as long as I keep sneak up...if I manage to do this I guess I'll report back and say if it's 'soloable'.

Yes - very easy to solo ^^
I did it level 49 - you dont have to kill anything if you already got key, and you only have to find chest, then ??? spot! ;)
If you dont have key yet, then I wouldnt advise it without help from at least one person, but exo's are soloable 51+ RDM, best with nin sub - and keep stoneskin/phalanx up! ;)

The only two parts that caused me to waste time were:
a) looking for the guy in the church (>< although looking back over this it does mention the guy is in the basement)
Turn left when you go in the main door and there is a stairway on your right at the end of the corridor!

b) finding the right ???
As you enter the crawlers nest, and come to the first opening (affectionately known as the "ball" or "sack" room) - so you are standing up high and have to drop down to the bit with the lizards - turn right - it is the 2nd opening. The path is very similar to the one which takes you towards the secret room, and you will have to go in for quite a bit. You will instantly see when you are at the right bit though,as it is the first part with that annoying green light! ><
Invisi will obviously have to be removed to bury the boots and blood - but nothing around here agros to sight anyway.
The chest was surprisingly easy to find...head straight to the big room where you can enter the secret room/rumble crawler bit etc - there are loads of spawn points in here, and you are more than likely to find it here.
First hug the wall around the edge of the room until you come back to where you started and keep hitting tab on your way round (this is autotarget for those who didnt know ;) If you fail to find it here, then go into the middle and go round the middle wall. There are a few points here also. You will come to an opening round the back of this middle bit which also holds a spawn point and is actually the first point I found it, but I wouldnt recommend popping this one unless you're there with a high level alliance, (or are confident with your chainspell/warp =P)as there are 5-7 exorays there, which obviously agro to sight, so as soon as invisi is out you are owned ; ;
The only other thing is if you are wondering when to head back - after midnight (Japan time) which is 4pm GMT.
This is kinda annoying since I finished mine around 7pm ; ;

When I was looking for an exoray mold, the chest spawned in the room so I opened it and got my blood. Stuck the stuff in the ground a few hours ago, just so long waiting for the reward... good luck to everyone

Just to clear a few things up after you recive the old watch from the preist go back to cullier for another cut sceen many people are getting to the ???. point like me and finding out that Someone has been digging here. thats becouse you havent talked to the start npc again and havent read the [quote] you receive the key item "Old Boots." Go back to Curilla after this scene and then head to Crawler's Nest.... grrr 9 hours wasted looking for all the ???. died 4 times by knight crawlers in the Wrong place .... in key items you should have crawlers blood & old boots click on the thing from what i call the Sack room's 2nd tunnel on the right facing away from where you come in go all the way down to till u see a cavity [lager bit] with a doom scorp and just passed that in the green smog is the ???.

someone please help =( i have done everything that i need to for the quest, and i have the old boots and crawler's blood. but, when i click on the ??? it only says "someone has been digging here." it says it is 3am in japan right now... that is after midnight. what am i doing wrong?

wow i have been looking for this chest for awhile, and its not the funnest thing ive done. two coffer pops...no chest...ugh whats a rdm to do...
