Description

Rauteinot asks you to bring him a slab of Elshimo marble (Rare/Ex). This is a rare drop off of Ivory Lizards found throughout Yuhtunga Jungle. Trade the Elshimo marble to him and he will give you a key item called Rauteinot's parcel.

Bring Rauteinot's parcel to Mulaujeant in front of the Blacksmith's Guild in Northern San d'Oria. Wait several hours (earth time) and Mulaujeant will give you a key item called Sublime statue of the Goddess to give to Rauteinot. Return to Rauteinot in Kazham and you will receive your reward, a scroll of Teleport-Yhoat.

The following real life day after midnight Japan time (11am Eastern / 8am Pacific) is when your teleport scroll reward will be ready for you by the NPC.

The Yhoat Telepoint is in Yhoator Jungle at F-9.

earthday thoery

i did a party with a friend of mine for this quest he was 42whm and i was 48thf. we started on earth day and cleared 2 tunnels out of lizards w/o a drop. when they respawned tho the 1st one we killed gave the drop. we then killed for like 6-7 more hours and finnaly got the drop again on earth day after clearing the tunnel out 1st. our theory is, for the lizards to drop the item u needa make sure the lizards spawn on earth day and not be left over lozards from the day b4...

i think the earthday thoery is correct... 2 drops in 6-7 hours... both on earth day, yea that made me believe it.

I can verify: No weather effects, no TH2. Took about 100 Ivory Lizards. Another person helped me out (I am a 62 WHM). It finally dropped. I'm waiting for the statue as we speak.

I bought the Teleport-Yhoat quest when I was 38 (saved up for it). So this one will be pure money :)

Just wondering.. is this Windy fame to get this quest?? and if so, any ideas what lvl fame is needed?
RE: fame?
# Oct 27 2005 at 1:05 AM Rating: Decent
Yes, Kazam fame is Windy linked, and from my understanding it's the same as the other tele-spells and is Fame 4. I could be totally wrong, of course, so anyone willing to confirm the fame level, it'd be appreciated...

I spent nearly 5 hours running the tunnels between Kahzam and Yhoator Jungle killing every lizard in sight. After eliminating nearly 125, I decided to give the Gemini Falls area a shot, and to my amazment, and sheer joy, the marble dropped on my 14th kill there. While running the tunnels, I went through several different days, moon phases, and weather conditions, and never received the drop. While at Gemini Falls, it was Earth's Day, during the First Quarter Moon and a two drop rain condition. I did this as a 59 RDM subbing BLM for half and THF for the other half (subbed THF at the Falls). I have no idea if the marble even drops from the tunnel lizards or not, since everyone I've asked said they got theirs at the Falls, but I find it very difficult to believe that the same mob in a different location on the map is capable of dropping something that other mobs don't. Either way, this quest is a complete pain in the @$$ and I'm glad that I never have to do it again. If anyone can confirm the drop from tunnel lizards, I'd love to hear about it.

I wasted 3 hours of my life killing these lizards over by the waterfall. I haven't even gotten the drop yet and I had a friend with me and a THF sub. Sucks soooo much.

First, I ran around Yuhtunga Jungle killing the lizards in the tunnels where I found them. Then after getting the info from my WHM friend, I then wasted 1.5-2 hrs of my life killing the ivory lizards at the Gemini Falls location. Killing them was easy & good timing, as one would pop about when I finished killing one, so the first hour was easy. Then my patience and attention started to wear quickly, so I warped out of there & decided to try the teleport-vazhl quest. It must've been an anti-drop day for me, b/c I killed shadows for about an hour waiting for the chest key to drop. But I got frustrated with that too. I guess I'll try again another day when I have more time/patience. I have all the other scrolls, just Vazhl & Yhoat I need. Hard to say if TH1 or TH2 will help too, since there are conflicting posts about this. Although, I do have a lvl 73 THF in my LS... ;>

Good luck to everyone doing these quests. Feel free to solicit me for help on Unicorn server. :D

After taking a break for a few hours, I decided to try it again, this time w/ my PLD husband (Shapelesschasm) to kill mobs more quickly. We decided to start w/ in Fei'Yin & kill mobs for keys. Got the key drop after about 20-30 mins, I guess, not too shabby. Right before it dropped, another guy hunting for keys actually told my husband where the chest was! XD I almost felt bad for him when I walked right past him killing a golem & took the chest...almost! ;> He was probably trying to get the Life Belt anyway.

Then part 2, we headed back to the jungle to kill ivory lizards at Gemini Falls again. It did take pretty long, but not as long as my first attempt. We had fun building up huge trains of lizards & wailing on them using all the AE attacks in our ******* (circle blade, -ga spells, etc.). I think it dropped within an hour, not sure. And I don't remember day/weather/moon ><

Got all the teleport scrolls done now :D

I'm at about 0/100-200 now with TH1. I am reading here some of you say there needs to be a weather effect occuring in order for the marble to drop. I'll make a note of if there is or not when I get the drop to possibly disprove this.

At least these guys drop lizard skins, so i'm making a little gil on the side.

TH 1 does not affect [Rare] Drops. You'll improve your skin drop rate, to be sure, but unfortunately it will not affect your marble drop rate.

And for clarification, debate aside - Square-Enix has officially confirmed that Treasure Hunter 2 *does* improve quest-related [Rare] item drops, through an interview several months ago. Unfortunately, the link escapes me at the moment, but you could easily find it on your own if you're in doubt of this.

anyone can give me some directions to Gemini Falls? I looked up http://www.ffxi-atlas.com/ but couldn't find a path leading there =\

I'm well.. obiviously doing the quest, so a place with a lot of ivoy lizz to kill would be nice, instead of running up and down looking for them ^^;

From the first hole you fall down on your way to Yhoater, travel through the tunnel until you get into the opening. Now from here i'm not sure if it brings you right to this part, but you want to find a place where the ground dips down low and there is a marlboro and a bunch of bees roaming around in this area as well as a fallen tree acting as a bridge above (don't take the log bridge though). Go down to this area with the marlboro and you'll see a tunnel similiar to the many you find across the jungle. If you see a single young opo-opo and three ivory lizards in this tunnel, you know you're on the right track. Simply follow this tunnel and you arrive at the grassy plains by gemini falls, full of ivory lizards and some jungle coeurls.

I spent about an hour last night and about 1/2 - 45 minutes today. I had double rain when I started, moved to single rain and no drop. Towards the end a WHM joined me and the first mob she engaged, the marble dropped. No special moon, no weather affects. I was 73DRK/36THF. So, for all you conspiracy theorists who talk about moon, weather and day. STFU!

I don't know about time, moon phases or weather having much to do with it. I just set out to get it with the idea of selling off the extra drops and making pet food with the meat and eggs. I finally got the drop after about 2 hours of steady fighting.

I got the Elshimo Marble drop...finally...today after about 150 kills (stretched over 2 months.) I read where you have to have a weather effect active in order to get the drop, and I finally got mine today while it was raining (it was also Earthsday around 22:00 with a 7% new moon waning in case that helps) I was hunting as a WHM49/THF20...subbing for TH1. This was the 4th time I had come out trying for the drop with TH1 but this was the first time I had waited for a weather element to start. Once it started raining, I got the drop on my second kill. If anyone out there has been hunting this drop for awhile, try going on a rainy day. It seemed to work for me!

got my marble today after about 6 or so lizzards, was BST59/thf 17 and had a pet when it dropped (still cant confirm if pets cause less dropps) so basically yeah it either drops real quick or it doesnt, my opinion is dont bother spending hour on it all at once, unless you have nothing better to do

Ok...this is the most annoying quest EVER! Read some postings about it dropping between certain days and moonphases. Went to jungle to get my slab between Lightsday and Firesday during a full moon. Killed about 1000 lizzies and nothing! Tried again today and just now got it! O.O Finally!
