Description

Rauteinot asks you to bring him a slab of Elshimo marble (Rare/Ex). This is a rare drop off of Ivory Lizards found throughout Yuhtunga Jungle. Trade the Elshimo marble to him and he will give you a key item called Rauteinot's parcel.

Bring Rauteinot's parcel to Mulaujeant in front of the Blacksmith's Guild in Northern San d'Oria. Wait several hours (earth time) and Mulaujeant will give you a key item called Sublime statue of the Goddess to give to Rauteinot. Return to Rauteinot in Kazham and you will receive your reward, a scroll of Teleport-Yhoat.

The following real life day after midnight Japan time (11am Eastern / 8am Pacific) is when your teleport scroll reward will be ready for you by the NPC.

The Yhoat Telepoint is in Yhoator Jungle at F-9.

Go into this expecting to put in hours of killing. Bring a few weapons, skillup to about 100-120 on them.

5 hours I got the marble :)

It was not raining, and it was not watersday.

I finally decided to do this quest, since I had enough fame for it. The very first Lizard I killed dropped the marble. I was amazed. I guess this makes up for the 10 hours I spent on the papyrus for Genkai.

Once again, Weather has nothing to do with this quest. No rain. normal boring weather: The Ivory lizard drops Elshimo marble. Hurray for me. Much rejoicing and a New Teleport Yhoat Spell.
NO rain required.

Rain has nothing to do with this quest.

Me, 61BRD/WHM
friend, 64RNG/THF

No rain element the entire 1 hour, and we got 2 drops. The first was on the first lizard we killed.

{Sidewinder} {Caution}
Ivory Lizard takes 1644 damage.
You find a slab of Elshimo Marble on the Ivory Lizard.

WTF!

the next dropped within 1 hour, probably more like 40 minutes. And there was no water element or rain the whole time.

I just did this quest to sell the scoll, a little short on gil. I went over by Gemini Falls and started killing lizzies, third one dropped the marble. TH2 probably helped a lot (52THF/NIN), and it did start to rain as I killed the third lizzy, so that may have had something to do with it as well.

From what I experienced rain has something to do with it...

It was double water element and was obviously raining. So I go out with the first intent of digging up some treasure, then after that falls flat I camp some lizzies (elements disapeared the sec I got on choco for one and rain stopped). Half hour later I join up with some high levels who had been killing all the lizzies in my area. Many minutes later we got a drop, I'd guess late in watersday. Early windsday we got our second drop. However, it was not raining when we got the drops.

my point? As I found out the high levels had been camping them for an hour before I came on the scene, I believe the marble comes up after it rains. I don't know much about ceramics but that makes sense to me.
It doesn't need to be raining..

I completed this quest this weekend with two other folks. A level 53 warrior friend was helping a level 47 white mage, so I decided to join in the lizard slaughter with my level 54 red mage. I subbed thief for the occasion.

Within 10 minutes of my arrival, we got the drop for the white mage. Since my white mage is nearing the level for the scroll, I asked if we could keep hunting a bit longer to see if we could get another slab. We killed a few more lizards, and got a second slab of marble. Since we were on a roll, we decided to try to get a slab for the warrior as well. It dropped in short order. We had three drops in a bit under 45 minutes.

I'm not sure if it was pure luck, or if having the thief sub helped. My paladin friend had helped several people get the drop, and said that he had never heard of it dropping with such frequency.

I'm not sure what day of the Vana'diel week it was, but I can debunk the theory that the marble only drops when it is raining. It was hot weather when we obtained one of the drops, and no weather at all when the other two dropped.

One of the drops happened in the tunnels near the northwest of the Yuhtunga Jungle map, where you end up if you bear right when leaving Kazham. The second was found in the tunnel beneath the hole that you drop down when you go from Kazham to that over-camped entrance to Yhoator. The final drop was in a tunnel just a bit south of Kazham, near a sign post just beyond a goblin spawn. It seems that lizards with the drop are distributed pretty evenly around the map.

Good luck everybody.^^

Pacience is The Key
# Aug 18 2004 at 10:52 PM Rating: Decent
Well pacience is the key for this quest. When i first come to the Gemni Falls i was alone as a 41 Ranger / 15 Thief. It was a terrible idea coz the down time was too long and there was 2 things drivin me nuts: 1) The agroo by others monsters. 2) The Lizards have a petrify atk that (believe me) will get you in trouble.

Then i was at jeuno and shouted for help. The first thing that happened was someone talkin to me sayin that i shouldn't get help from someone who was acttually doin the same quest coz the drops were real rare. But i didn't listen... I accepted help from a lv. 36 Elvaan White Mage. And Then while we were takin the chocobo for the falls we invited a lv.52 Red Mage who was doin the quest too. And we went together for the falls...

There... at the falls... was simply a lizards' genocide. I had treasure hunter on me, and with the help from the lv.52 one we were always able to get 4 lizards at the same time...

1h50 mins later it was everything finished. We all were w/ the marble. Then, the pty leader asked for us to accept one of his friends into the pty, a lv. 41 Thief who was doin the quest too. In 10 mins we got the thief's marble. So, in 2 hours we were done w/ 4 marbles.

The real thing about this quest is about patience. You must have when killin' the lizards and when you are waitin for the guy at Sandy finish his work.

Still... is a very easy quest.

I got this quest when I was partying in Kazham. I was lvl 27 I think. My party stepped out into the jungle and within three fights a lizzie spawned near us. We killed it and the ivory dropped. I explained i had a quest for that and everyone passed. :) I guess after all the horror stories i've just read i got off very easy!

I completed my Teleport-Yhoat quest late Saturday Evening (early Sunday morning) after about 3 hours worth of hunting. However, if I did not have high-level assistance (thanks go out to Teancum, RDM60, from Virtus LS) it would have taken me much, much longer. As a WHM40, I was able to solo one lizard at a time without TOO much difficulty, but the downtime between lizards was several minutes as I had to full heal each time.

I was able to get this quest right away, but I had already gotten all three of the "Crag" scrolls, so I couldn't tell you what to do about the fame requirements beyond what's already been stated.

We hunted lizards in the large clearings in front of the Gemini Falls area around (J-7). An excellent area, plenty of lizards, with only a few Coeurls that would aggro. I recommend taking a chocobo there, as you must pass many goblin spawns and an overgrown rose. But we were the only ones hunting there, and with a total of about 8 lizards spawning per sweep, it was extremely efficient killing.

We actually found two marbles over the course of the three hours. There was no rhyme or reason to the drops, it was just purely random. Two hours till we found the first one, and the second one dropped an hour after that. On the whole, I'd say it was comparable to hunting the Weapons at Qufim for the Kaiser Sword drop.

We got our drops, warped back to Kazham, and the rest was easy. Turned in the marble, got the package, dropped it off in Sandy (stopped off at Valkurm to do my AF1), then logged off for the night. The next morning, after the new day in Japan, I logged back on and the statue was waiting for me. Delived to Kazham (I left my HP there) and I was now 5/6 of the way towards my teleport collection. Next up, Vahzl...

I, a lvl 49 THF/WAR, and an ls member (45RDM/BLM) hunted lizards in the Kazham area for about 4 hours. We went from ivory lizards to white lizards and back to ivory when we finally got the drop. It was horribly boring, and occasionally we were able to get 7 experience. At least the occasional goblin aggroes got me some silver beastcoins and spare gil. Oh well, at least my ls member got to do the quest.

The only really bad part about the quest was when I later figured out that the scroll goes for 35k in Jeuno. I was able to do the Teleport-Dem quest at lvl 40 with ridiculous ease and got 40k out of it. That's why I hoped that this scroll would go for ~90k. No, it instead goes for an ironic 35k :(

I Hate this quest

ive spent over 16 hrs campin these lizzies on 3 separate occassions. im a lv 37 whm and ive had 3 different groups try to help me. tmy first trip i had a 43 war/thf a bard n me , no luck afterf 6 hrs, no drop. later that day i went back with a lv 54 summ and me spent another 3-4 hrs there no drop. lastly yesterday i went back with a lv 40 something blm and a lv 53 thf with th2 we spent another 3-4 hrs there killing lizzies with no drop we spent a lot of time in area h-7 and no luck, ive quested and done myself all the other tele scroll quest except for vahzi.a lot of you say this is just based on luck well then i have horrible luck. even a th2 like the one that helped me last night was like whys this taking soooo long. i know i could just buy it but that takes the fun outta it tho im not having fun doin it anymore. my funds are lacking because instead of teleporting people to make money ive been preoccupied with gettin all the scrolls except vahzi, im puttin that off til im a higher level. i play in the phoenix server and if i could find someone to help me get this extremely rare drop id pay 5k just for the help, my name in the game is mightymidget pls look me up.

Pure Luck of the Draw
# Jul 10 2004 at 2:42 PM Rating: Excellent
I didn't want to slay for hours (after reading loads of horror stories for rar/ex drops on these forums) so I borrowed a few LS friends, 61SAM and a 53BRD and I was 36WHM. We choco'd up to the falls and killed 4 lizards and got the drop. So it's purely luck of the draw when the drop ends up dropping.

As far as fame goes, I did 17 quests around Windhurst. I also did 3 of those for repeats. I did:

"Something Fishy"
Windurst Port, NPC: Tokaka @ (C-8)

- Bastore Sardines

"Paying Lip Service"
Windurst Woods, NPC: Tapoh Lihzeh @ (I-8)
- 3 Beehive Chips/drops off bees (Reward 150 gil)
~OR~
- 2 Remi Shells/drops off crabs (Reward 300 gil)

"Creepy Crawlers"
Windurst Woods, NPC: Illu Bohjaa @ (H-6)
- 3 Silk Threads/drops off Crawlers (Reward 600 gil)
~OR~
- 3 Crawler Calculi/drops off Crawlers (Reward 600 gil)

I STRONGLY recommend doing either "Creepy Crawlers" or "Paying Lip Service" for the repeating quests as you don't have to zone everytime to start the quest. They'll take the items anytime and the reward stays the same. "Something Fishy" you have to zone everytime which can be long and a drag.

So I ended up doing about a stack of sardines for the "Something Fishy" quest, 6 stacks of Beehive Chips and 2 stacks of Remi Shells for "Paying Lip Service" quest, and finally about 8 sets of 3 Crawler Calculi and 2 sets of Silk Thread for "Creepy Crawlers" as well as the quests I mentioned above doing to get enough fame for Tele-Mea and Tele-Yhoator quests.

Now just gotta do Mea and hand in the Marble for Yhoator. Good luck with everyone gaining fame.

Hope I helped someone. Take care!

This quest is so ridiculously easy I could cry. Well, it's easy except for the stupid wait.

This is what we did -- started off with a 50 WHM/BLM, a 41 MNK/THF, and I... I decided to be special. I decided that I'd go as my 41 WHM... with NIN subbed. That's right, dual wielding mauls, eating mithkabobs, and using Utsusemi. Somewhere along the way we picked up a 50 MNK and after a few wrong turns and the mass murder of a few zillion Gobs, we made it to Gemini Falls.

I'd say we were there for about an hour, possibly two at the most, but it was actually really fun. The other WHM and I were doing club skill ups, and with our MNK buddies we were doing serious damage to the Lizzies and the Courels that aggro'd us poor level 41's. The MNK/THF's TH was a godsend of course, but it's Gemini Falls you gotta go to. The other Lizards weren't giving us anything, but we got 2 drops within 15 minutes of each other in Gemini Falls.

So yes, Gemini. Go there, get your drop, then go wait 8 real time hours for that stupid statue, then GO BACK TO KAZHAM >.< I'd have left my friggin HP there if I knew I had to go back. Stupid missionaries.

I did this today as a 56 whm, solo'ed for the 1st 3 hours till i got a friend 45 pld subbing thief to come help out. in all it took 5 hours to get the drop. Very frustrating. I got the drop on Iceday and the weather was sunny.
Why do Rare drops have to be so ... Rare? .

I think a lot of it just depends on luck ^^; a WHM in our LS hunted for 6 hours with a 60 THF to get her marble, whereas when I went out with a MNK/THF, it dropped on the fifth lizzie.

Took me two trips but since I'm 55 sam the lizards weren't overly hard and I just kind of ran around killing them. Roughly 4 hours of hunting to get a drop. No rain or anything was occurring when I got it. I assume it's just like any other rare drop for a quest, it just takes a while before you get the item.
