I asked a SAM friend of mine to help me with this, as I'm a level 36 wuss and can't kill anything and he can sub THF for TH1. >.> Anyway, on the way to Kazham we picked up a 40WHM and a 50WHM who aslo wanted to do the quest, so we needed four drops in all.
I didn't check the moon, to be honest, but we got one in the last few hours of Lightningsday, two on Lightsday, and one on Darksday. They were spaced pretty evenly, except for the last one, which seemed to take something resembling forever.
I feel I should clarify something about the timing of the quest. This post used to say that Mulaujeant was taking a very long time making my statue. This bothered me, because there's a post somewhere down here that says the Teleport scroll would be ready for you the next day after midnight (Japan time). I assumed it was like Teleport-Altep, where you finish the quest and then go back for the scroll. However, it's the STATUE that will be ready after midnight (Japan time). The scroll will be given to you as soon as you turn the statue in, with no delay.
At least, that's how it worked for me. ^.^

In-Game TextDescriptionRauteinot asks you to bring him a slab of Elshimo marble (Rare/Ex). This is a rare drop off of Ivory Lizards found throughout Yuhtunga Jungle. Trade the Elshimo marble to him and he will give you a key item called Rauteinot's parcel. Bring Rauteinot's parcel to Mulaujeant in front of the Blacksmith's Guild in Northern San d'Oria. Wait several hours (earth time) and Mulaujeant will give you a key item called Sublime statue of the Goddess to give to Rauteinot. Return to Rauteinot in Kazham and you will receive your reward, a scroll of Teleport-Yhoat. The following real life day after midnight Japan time (11am Eastern / 8am Pacific) is when your teleport scroll reward will be ready for you by the NPC. I had a lvl 50 thf friend helping me. He tolf me to sit back at the Kazham gates and ran off. he kills 3 lizzys and we get the drop. the other 2 droped an egg and a tail. But the guy making the statue is taking forever. i checked every day game time nothing. I turned in the marble at 9:50 est last night and still haven't gotten the statue.

went out as my main THF60/NIN30. killed the ivory lizards in the tunnels just south of the Kazham entrance (south of the noob mandy fields and part of the path to bigger noob Yhoater). only took about 15 to get the first piece to drop. then logged in my alt, had him join up in a pt and got a 2nd in about 10 kills. woot Dancing Edge!

killed about 6-10 of the lizards for the drop solo as 51drg/25war. was very simple and took about half an hour
15 lizards later i get my drop i feel bad for the people who killed lizards for 5hrs with nothing >< waiting for stupid sculpture

I have not started this quest yet and am just investigating it right now. When it says that you got to wait a few hours earth time on NPC Mulaujeant in front of the Blacksmith's Guild in Northern San d'Oria, can you do other things like party and come back to him later to pick up the statue.
Earthsday, got drop on third kill, I was estatic ^_^.

no they didn't, killed about 60 alone as a 57 WHM, and then 62 THF offered to help, killed about 270 more and got the drop was killin for about 3 hours.. >< what a crappy quest
Killed about 20 lizards throughout the various tunnels, no drop. Then moved to the J-7 lizard field, and received the drop after another 20
lizards or so.

I think like NM drops this drops better the closer level you are to the mob. I was out getting powerleveled by a friend while he skilled up and I got my marble on the 4 lizzie the all conned as T-DC to me.

i just got my marble.. not bad maybe 20 kills or so (57bst/whm so crab does 200 a hit i do 90)
got mine at J-7 by the jungle courels.

there is a whole field of lizzies with a couple coeurls (spaced far enough to prevent ago/links)
it beats running between tunnels.
to get there: go left after exiting kazham, fall through the hole you normally do when you go to yhoator jungle, go down to where the overgrown rose normally sits and through a tunnel in the back wall and you're there.

I don't have a strong character to kill the Lizards on my own so I've asked some friends from my LS. We (myself and a Level 54 RNG) spent the last 5 hours of Lightsday and the entire Darksday killing Lizards and we never got the marble... it was quite frustrating but I guess I'll keep trying. Hard thing is finding someone to help me kill the Lizards. xD
I spent some time farming for the Elshimo Marble drop as a 50RDM/25THF. I noticed when I got the quest that Rauteinot said these drop under certain conditions, so I came here and tried to get as much info as I could for this quest. Because most people had gotten the drop on a Light or Darksday, I focused my efforts to farming on these days, although I did farm at least once every day of the vana'diel week. Here is what I got for about 4 total hours killing Ivory Lizards in Yuhtanga Jungle.

First time I went killing for 4 hours... no drop then yesterday I went and it drops on first mob I kill -.-; was on darksday in the tunnel at F-7
This was the worst waste of time I had ever indured. Spent 4hours killing lizards non-stop [THF61/NIN30]. No skillups for anything. I finally got the marble, now to wait forever for the statue and scroll.

i was getting PLed in yuhtunga tonight, in the second open area with gobs and mandies, and the hole in the ground. I had killed all the gobs and mandies parties hadnt pulled, so i decide to con the lizard down the hole, it conned T so i figured whatever. Asked my PL if it was ok, knowing lizs have bad specials and such, thinking to myself itd be nice to get that marble, that quests been in my log forever(hadnt bothered trying yet, highest job RNG32), apparently my PL was thinking the same thing cuz he said 'hey maybe you'll get that marble' but anyway, i started shooting at it, really big skillups on marksmanship ^^
Finally killed it with gob aggro in the middle of it, and it being still in the tunnel me on top making for a weird camera angle, and it dropped marble(as well as a beastmen seal, lizard tail, and 200 exp, not to mention 2 marksmanship levels ^^) turns out a friend of both of ours needed the scroll too, just waiting for the guy to carve the statue now

I have noticed that most people seem to get this drop on Darksday. I went hunting it last night with a couple of friends. Me a lvl 37 Whm/Blm, with a lvl 43 War/Nin, and lvl 40 Thf/Nin. We were hunting it for about 3 hrs. then I noticed the day was lightsday. I was getting excited cause that meant the next day was darksday. Then all of a sudden . . . It dropped. Lightday, 14:15 waning 33%. So maybe it drops on both days?

How much fame do you need to get this quest? And also, fame for which nation?
Kazham would be based on Windurst Fame and all my Fame levels are 4 I believe and I got this quest. all I can say to be honest.

i wasnt rdm/blm killing the lizzies and got marble on the third one. ^^
WOW, I feel really greatfully luckly! I killed one lizard and got the drop. I thought I would have to be hunting around forever. But it dropped right away along with a lizard tail and egg.
Over a span of about 3 days I killed maybe 130 of these things I'm just happy it's over with. I'm waiting for the sculptor to finish the statue. XD
