Good Gil Quest (6 BSTs)
# Jan 26 2006 at 4:10 PM Rating: Default
I'm on the unicorn server for any other BSTs who would like to do this BCNM. I've made anywhere around 200-600k average. With 6 BSTs this is as easy as you'd want it to be for fast money.

I've seen subs like: WHM,BRD,RDM,and NIN.

Any of those are awesome. If you sub NIN or RDM, pls make sure you have good CHR gear. Nothing hurts your chances like mischarm.
SMN instead of BST?

I have an idea for this BCNM that uses 6 SMN instead of 6 BST.

SMN would need Ramuh and Gurada. And the main SMN should have Yagudo Drink and Hi-Ethers.

When all 6 SMN enter 5 of them call Ramuh and one calls Garuda. Then, the SMN w/Gurada uses Aerial Armor. All Ramuh and SMN should then have Blink. Then the SMN desummons Garuda and calls Ramuh. Then, a second SMN uses Rolling Thunder so all the Ramuh's have Enthunder.

By this time 2 Blood pacts should be used.

Now, they all should get close to the mobs. The main SMN should Send Ramuh after Helltail Harry. Once attacking Astral Flow and use Judgement bolt.

After that all the SMN should send they're Ramuhs after Harry. The 3 that did not use a Blood Pact should then use Thunderspark, this causes AOE dmg and paralyze effect, but when the main SMNs Ramuh dies all the rabbits should attack one of the other 3 Ramuhs that used Thunderspark.

When the main SMN Bloodpact is ready they should get ready to hit Judgement Bolt again. And the other 5 should Thunderspark whenever they get the chance.

Edit: after Harry is dead the Ramuh's should all focus on the cottentails. If they're still alive, I don't know they're HP or the DMG Ramuh's Thunderspark and Judgement Bolt does at lvl 40.

If all goes well, all the rabbits should stay together so that Judgement Bolt should hit for quite a bit.

I haven't done this stragey myself since I don't know enough SMNs at lvl 40 or higher. But if this is well cordinated and works, then the 6 SMN can all do use one orb and 6 can be done within 2 hrs. So even though it involves using a 2hr, it should be possible to do it as fast and reliably as BST. If anyone out there knows 6 SMN that are willing to try this strategy I would love some feedback.

6 SMN would be able to do it 6 times because only one SMN is using its 2HR each fight.

Yep, hes talking about each of the 6 smns take turns doing the 3x 2hr trick for each 6 times but honestly if you can actually find a full pt of 6 smns and depending everyones lvl with that much fire power grab a pld and rdm for a alliance and go kill a high lvl NM or hnm. the thought of it all, 18 Judgement bolts or 18 Diamond Dusts.. ouch ><

..... for a SMN post lvl 70 astral flow is just to conserve MP.. the lvl 70 BPs will aLMOST always do more dmg, except maybe in the case of MB a astral flow on a high lvl HNM (seen aerial blast MB on kirin for almost 1900 dmg before)highest ever seen a BP dp to kirin was 1400 somting and was a critical onviuosly, aveage being 500-1000 unresisted , but you can BP every 45 secs with yingyang robe and some AF2/ penace gear (robe -5 sec, penace hat or a2 head -3, af2 hands, feet and legs -2 each). BUt as most of the capped COP BCs prove... astral flow > anything in capped BC

Yea they are better but also im speaking from a lvl 60 point of view, also how do you figure astral flow conserves mp? every time you use it your mp goes to 0 unless you have a refresh on then its around 3-5 for about 2 seconds then your avatar dies from the hate. And i still think a 300TP Magic Bursted Astral Flow will do more damage then a predator claws, rush etc.. but hey what do i know im only a lvl 60 smn 10 lvls to go before the last bp's then ill know for sure but ive also seen weak 70 pacts, not to mention ive also seen a double slap for exactly 1001 damage and no it was not a lvl 75 smn and no it was not a {Too Weak} mob it conned even match-tough to us (smn party.) Meh either way damage is damage if it hurts the mob i done my part.

you only lose all your mp if you use the special bp thats unlocked with astral flow, otherwise you DO save mp cuz the perpetuation cost goes to 0. or thats how i understand it anyway

Yeah, when you have the effect of astral flow up, avatar perpetuation gets eliminated; you only lose all MP if you decide "hay ima blow dis up kekeke ^^"

From what he was saying only 1 SMN would use the 2hr, while the others would do blood pacts. This could be done 6 times consecutively.
RE: SMN instead of BST?
# Jan 12 2006 at 3:38 PM Rating: Decent
One Problem with that theory, only the origianl Avatar that used the Blood Pact gains that effect.
So if Ramuh uses Rolling Thunder, only that Ramuh would gain that effect, along with the pt memebers in that area. Also same thing with Garuda, Only that Garuda will gain blink, along with the pt members within area.

I've done this BCNM 18 times in the last 2 days, all sucessful with my LS mates. Our PT setup.

Bst/Whm x 6

Our record time was 6 min 10 sec. On Remora. We used the basic strategy, 1 bst calls jug and lets pet get aggro. Everyone else charms and sends rabbits against Harry, except one who sends his against the 7th cottontail.

SO basically, once Harry is dead kill off the remaining Cottontail. Then release your pets one at a time and kill them off till you're done.

Out of 18 runs, I saw somebody get into the red twice. Each time it was the person using the Jug pet. Because of mischarms, after the jug is dead the remaining bunnies will go after the jug owner. The best way to counter this is for one person to sic his cottontail on harry at the start, and the rest pick another non-charmed cottontail. This way the bunnies are bashing on eachother while you're trying to charm, instead of on your pt mates. It will also help with speed because the bunnies will have less life left over when Harry dies.

Good Luck. If anybody has beaten 6min 10sec post up, love to see the competition.

2:Pick which o'clock each bst is going to have (11,1,5,3,12,)
3:Trade Orb.
4: 1 person summon jug. make it sic one of the main rabits in front.
5:once every one has charmed or tried leave jug and charm a pet.
6:one person has to take 1 rabit and others take harry.
7:stand back and wave goodbye to harry.
8: once harrys dead call out hp status of pet. (pethpp)
9: leave who ever has most one by one killing them off.

I've tried subbing it as WHM/BST... and I'd have to say that the Charm succession rate is at most half as much. I tried charming easy prey and too weak and it doesn't make it that often.

I did this bcnm today with 4 other BST and a RDM. We got Utsusemi: Ni 3 times, Phalanx 3 times and erase twice in 6 orbs. 500k per person... overall a pretty good night of BCNM. Only one orb gave us a low priced drop (phalanx only which is still 180k on Fenrir). Best thing to do for this with bst is to have one BST send a jugpet at the closest rabbit. This will put hate on the jugpet not the BST then all the other BSTs go in and get pets. In our case we had the RDM sleep 2 of the rabbits while our pets attacked Harry but if there had been another BST he would have charmed a rabbit and sent it at the extra. Once everything is charmed then its sit back and wait for stuff to die. Our slowest time on this was the first one at 9 minutes and 47 seconds and from there it only increased in speed.

I've spent the afternoon reading up on BCNM40s, as my LS is doing one tonight for my Erase scroll. The party is PLD, WHM, BLM, BST, BRD and WAR, judging by the posts I've been reading, this sounds far from ideal, but might just be possible. Opinions?

Bst rape this BCMN. My LS has done a bstx6 group here about 30+ times in the last 2 weeks and had only one failure, when we were still unfamiliar with it.
We just charm 6 of the 7 normal bunnies, sic one on the other and 5 on the main. Afterwards, we just kill off our pets one at a time. It never last more than 10 min.

Just as Hazel said a bit before me this is easy to do if you have a Bard, 2 healers (one main healer and one who only heals the Bard and Debuffs the Rabbits) and three Damage Dealers. Now I personally think it's easiest if you have a THF, a RNG, and a WAR... all with NIN sub using Utsusemi (Or a NIN main with any sub)

This plan works on both this BCNM and the one with the Mandies in Balga Dias
here's my scheme
# Nov 26 2004 at 11:48 PM Rating: Default
This is just a thought here. I've never done any BCNM but I think I'm pretty good at planning crap. Anyway I was going to try to keep this in the LS, but we don't have a BST at the required level. Nor do we have a RNG, but I think I might just go get some outside help. Anyway the setup would be like this. BRD, WHM, THF (me), BST, BST (since everyone said BST is good for this), and finally a BLM or PLD. I was thinking BLM to help with the sleeping and nuke the living crap out of everything in the place so it'll go quicker. The BLM would use high level lightning and water spells since bunnies are weak against those elements.

Here's the plan:
If there is no PLD, I run in with Utsusemi up and try to dodge or some sort of crap and possibly use pefect dodge. So basically I'm the distraction while the BRD or BLM tries to sleep everything so we can focus on the harder mob. Whoever sees something wake up they sleep it since we'll have two people with this ability. Going on with the plan, the two BST would charm a couple and help with the beating up of the main mob. We take out the big guy then start taking about the others and the WHM just keeps us all alive.

I know it doesn't sound like the best plan in the world but could someone comment on this and tell me how I could make it better. Thanks a lot.

I had a pt of 3 taru and 1 elvaan bst/whm, 1 galka pld/war, and 1 mithran drg/war (me). First time we went in, we didn't know what to expect and we all died. Charms failed and the bunnies made mincemeat of us.

Second time in, we had our pld run in first, use Invincible, while the bsts all tried to charm simultaneously. This worked much better. Then they all had bunnies beating bunnies, while the pld and I beat on helltail harry with the extra bunny. Our pld died in the end, but we managed to win. No spectacular drops.

Third time we tried something different. The beginning was the same, our pld ran in and invincibled, while the bsts charmed bunnies off him. Then they occupied all the rabbits, including helltail harry, while we rested. They just went through all the bunnies till the big one was left, which we all then beat on. One bst died because of an unfortunately timed curaga. Still, a piece of cake. Moderately better drops, but still nothing spectacular.

As long as you have 4 bst in your party, its pretty easy. With the pld invincible strategy, its even easier. Its just too bad with that technique, you have to wait 2 hours. Still, not too bad. Hopefully the next one will drop some nice stuff.

6 bsts own this fight in no time at all. I've done it with 5 bsts before too, no real problems. Brd is not needed. If you have 5 bsts who know what they're doing you could bring any other class at all in and just have him sit in the corner the entire fight.

I just did this in a group of 5 BST/WHM and myself as BRD/BST. I thought I could provide lullaby, ballad, etude and also charm one of the rabbits. I was wrong; even with +29 chr from equipment and Enchanting Etude I never had a successful charm. A Bard is very useful for keeping the rabbits asleep until they're charmed, but go BRD/WHM, not BRD/BST.

Do Black Mages have any chance of sleeping these monsters with es+sleepga?

If a monster is asleep and you cast a sleepga on it. Does it have a chance of waking back up?

Do you think a blm blm brd bst whm nin/war or pld/war would have a good chance?

Yes a blm is doable for elemental seal -> sleepga. The blm must be fairly competent with watching the mobs when they awake. Blm needs to stay a good distance away while still being withing casting distance. All the bunnies seemed to awake at the same time, so once they awake from the first sleep immediately cast sleepga again and you shouldn't get touched. If the blm doesn't notice the mass awakening they are instantly dead because sleepga is easily interrupted.

Trade a few of them for more BST if you can, they are awesome for this. The best I've seen was my friend doing it 5 BST and him as BRD. That was awesome. I, as a BLM, would assume you can Sleepga them, and, everything always has the chance of waking up.

Bard's Horde Lullaby

I tried this one in Bulga Dias. Bard Drk Drk Pld Rdm Whm. Seems promising, right? Wrong. Four times and nothing to show for it but xp loss. Skip down to end of post to get the big message.

First fight: Horde Lullaby, pull NM away, hack, slash, hack, the linkers wake up one by one, and start hitting me. I sleep them all, which only works on the ones that are awake. The rest wake up and attack. I'm down before the song recharges. NM got down 1/2 before we all fall down.

Second fight: I tell them Horde isn't working the way they say it is. They ignore me, and we try again. Same o same o. I horde them as they start to wake up, and i just reverse the situation, going down before recharge. A few make it out before we all go down.

Third fight: They believe me horde isn't working. So, we try it a different way. I run in the middle of the BC and horde. They take the NM away and hack-slash-hack it to 3/4. Bout then, they wake up one by one. I dont horde them. They link/aggro to tank or WHM, Rdm tries to gather them and return them to me. Tank redirects her, they go all over the place. I can't sleep them. Tank goes down. Healers go down. I'm down. One dark makes it out before it's over.

Fourth Fight. Ok, healers stand around me so they link to healers or me. That's what we decided before we head out. I horde, but I must have moved or something, because my song got interrupted. I'm down. Healers down. Tank down. We're down. No one makes it out. This happened all within a minute.

I think the last one would work, but I stopped because I dont think the BARD starring one will work too well. that, and I had lousy charisma, so I stopped while we've still got atleast someone with their Orb. I had +10 char plus used Flint Caviar before each battle, so +14. Still, +14 wasn't enough. Got Signa, Noble's, and Still have my caviar, but waiting on Mary's horn. went down to 80k on my server.

Still, If you want to go the Bard-sleep route, You're Bard must be primo. And even with a primo bard, They must still be in range with the bard. Have your healers stand near the bard in the middle of the BC. And know:

Horde Lullaby doesn't stack. It WILL wake up your sleeping linkers. Definately.

# Jul 14 2004 at 12:41 PM Rating: Decent
i find that the "steaming sprouts" BCNM is easier than this one. no matter what, you MUST have a brd in the party, or it is hopeless. im a pld, and the setup we have is brd, pld, rdm, rdm, rng, sam. me, the sam, and the rng take on the black mandy, while one of the rdms takes care of us. the other rdm takes care of the brd, who constantly hordes the group of the others. when the black mandy uses the ancient magic flood, i have plenty of time to shiled bash him to break it up. after the black one is dead, you simply take out the others one by one. ive made about 500k with my static doing this BCNM over the last couple of weeks, so its well worth it.

I did this the other night 7 times. We won all 7, quite easily.

BST-BST-BST-BRD-RDM*. One of the beasts would pull a familiar in order to start the fight and engage Helltail Harry, drawing aggro. While he did that, the Bard would put the bunnies to sleep.

The other Beasts then each snagged one of the cottontails and sic'ed them on Harry. I (RDM) stayed next to the BRD, who ran away from the fight. It should be mentioned here that the BRD subbed WHM and had Stoneskin-Blink up.

Eventually, the 4 bunnies who weren't charmed woke up and went after the bard. I spammed cures on him until he was able to put the bunnies back to sleep. The 3 BSTs all had WHM subbed as well so they could help heal. After Harry died, the BSTs would sic the charmed rabbits on one of the uncharmed rabbits while the BRD slept those that weren't charmed. Should a charmed rabbit die, the BST just charms a new one.

Repeat this process until all the uncharmed rabbits are dead. Release the rabbits one at a time, until you kill the last one without any pets at all.

*Yes, we had only 5 people. The 6th member was a mule of another player, and made a couple of warps back to Jeuno to get more orbs. This is how we were able to do 7 orbs.
In fact, the last time we did this we didn't use one of the three BSTs, but a WAR instead. The WAR died almost instantly, but we were still able to do it with 4...it just took a little bit longer.

Total take: 4 Utsusemi: Ni, 3 Erase and 2 Phalanx, plus assorted other stuff. Add that all up and divide by 5, that's 300-400K for about 3 hours work. Not bad.
and then we died...
# May 21 2004 at 11:56 PM Rating: Decent
Is it just me or is this fight incredibly hard?

I went in there with a pretty good party; RNG [me], BRD, DRG, WHM, SAM, RDM. Granted we had no real tank, but things didn't even get that far.

First fight: I ran up within arrow range and pulled the big bunny. All other bunnies aggro, BRD's sleep song works for about 2 seconds then BRD dies, I die shortly after, then the rest of the PT is toast as well.

Second fight: Me and BRD run up together, the plan is for him to sleep all the bunnies, then I choose a small bunny to pull away from the pack, we kill, repeat, etc. until all bunnies are dead, then we take big bunny. lol things didn't work that way at all.

When the BRD slept it just caused all the bunnies to aggro him, he dies, I die, everyone else dies shortly after.

I mean wtf? We all felt pretty confident going in and I know that it's possible to beat this BCNM. But apparently nobody that's posted here has. Anyone have a good strategy to share so I don't waste another orb?
