SummaryMany animals conscripted during the war did not return. Brutus wants you to put their souls to rest. WalkthroughTalk to Brutus at the chocobo stables in Upper Jeuno to start this quest. Brutus will give you three key items called Aquafloras to put in some underground pools as a remembrance to the beasts that died. Next, go to Fei'Yin. There are three pools in the lower area of Fei'Yin at H-8, H-5 and F-5. Examine the pool at F-5 and Dabotz's Ghost appears. Kill him, then inspect the pool again for a cutscene. Then inspect the other two pools in that area. Then, return to Upper Jeuno and talk to Brutus. The final part requires you to go to Castle Oztroja and kill Yagudo Conquistadors, Yagudo Priors and Yagudo Zealots for an Oztroja Chest key. Find a chest, trade key and you'll get a Beast collar. Trade this collar to the walking NPC monkey called Tebhi, who often roams in the area where the yagudo spawn. He'll disappear, so head back to Upper Jeuno and talk to Brutus one more time to receive your Beast Gaiters. Quest SeriesThis quest is part of the Beastmaster artifact gear quest series. Last night I got a few friends to go help me get the key.After about an hour we finally got the key to drop.Then it took us another 2 hours to find the chest.I opened the chest,waited....and saw that I had received 3k gil.I had forgotten to talk to Brutus after I came back from Fei'yin ><.Went back n did the whole part within an hour this morning though.
For all you adventurous beastmasters out there, the key part in Oztroja is not soloable. The mobs for pets are too few and too weak. The yagudos themselves are easy prey but they are way too hard for soloing, especially when your pets are being brought to near death within 3 hits.
It is soloable. Bring a funguar jug, it should be able to handle two EP chest key Yags at one time with your help.

It is possible that you can solo this. I have been able to solo the chest key droppers, but with no drop. There is a nice spot on the second last map on:

In 3 corners there are little indents in the wall. Each one of the indents will have 2 key droppers. Once you have cleared the 2 in each cave, quickly go back and they should be popping up one at a time.
The lower levels will occasionally link with the Yagudo that you are trying to kill. Let them kill your pet and they usually will leave you alone. I have been scrictly using crab familiar. You do get a little exp, and some decent drops aswell.
The worst part for me, is seeing the chest waiting for someone to open, but never getting a key to open it up. I logged on about 5-6 hours later... The chest is still there, but still no key drop :(

Although you obviously need to be BST to flag quest and as far as I know get the reward both sections can be completed as other jobs (See below).

He wasn't as easy as I imagined though (or as easy as the other AF2 NM's I've solo'd), the Dark Element was alot easier and that gave me 20xp, a seal and a cluster. With the NM I never used 2hr and ended @ 50%hp without my Herc Ring activating once.
Curse never landed although he used it several times. He cast Tornado and Freeze a few times (forgot how pretty they are) and ~aga II alot, SS absorbed them all. Also cast Poison II and a few elemental debuffs but they were all resisted. Oh and near the end he used Ice Spike's to annoy me -.-.
On a side note (and this is pure speculation) his cast times seem a little quicker than usual. I have no proof or timings, just a feeling the AM and certainly the ~aga II's appeared to have a shorter cast time. Just something to be aware of when fighting this fellow.
Then recheck the pool after the fight.

I don't think you even have to bother changing back to BST. You have to get the quest started as BST, but after that you can do the whole thing as another job. I have yet to do the Castle Oz part, but when I went back and talked to Brutus after doing Fei'yn I was still on my WHM and he talked to me about going to castle oz.
BTW, the NM ghost is no joke. Fortunately I went with a 75 NIN and 65 PLD friends of mine and went as 61 WHM. We didn't have any trouble with him, but it was a fairly strung out battle. Likes to cast AM (not a problem for a NIN tank) and resists enfeebles like a ****. I couldn't get silence/paralyze etc to stick once.

An interesting thing happened to me doing this quest. I tried to solo the Babotz's Ghost at 52. After about 5 CCs and over a dozen random bats I got him halfway dead, then I got Bogy agro and had to zone. Apparently while I was zoning, someone must have killed him(he did go unclaimed becuase i sent some bats after the bogy guy), because 2 days later I finally got some help and when I went to spawn him again, I got the cutscene>.< I didn't know whether to be pissed or happy.
about the nm in fei yin, i found him on the northwestern pool :o killed him with ease as drg 61/whm with a 70drg/whm friend. slow and steady. saved TP for leg sweep and used a few pineapple juices ^^ gah its a galka in bst af.. i want ; ;

i solo this guy as 75drg/rdm, fully buffed with blink/stoneskin/phalanx and some how forgot protect and shell /slap <me> but he still went down pretty easy for being a ghost type resistant to lance's, paralyze kinda sux w/o paralyna, so i just saved my penta for then, so my wyvern would remove it for me, or when he started casting -ga spells/ancient magic, thou one did get throu, even thou it was freeze, where i have - resist cause of scorp harness, it hit for only 299, so his magic is pretty weak lol. easily soloable.

My friend who said he would help and me went to take this guy out. First we almost died from poor hate control on a VT pot trying to clear the room ^^;;. Turns out as I was waiting for my jug pet timmer to go down the pots started respawning which ruined the whole point of clearing them out in the first place. This NM took care of my first jug with no problem and once again with my second.
My friend died soon from aggro and that left me alone to solo the rest of the fight. I finished with only one problem, where I got aggro from a golem >.> but made it out alive from loseing aggro after running around enough ^^;.
Here are some tips on how to solo this match from my experience:
Jug pets are completly useless stick with bats because 1. they last longer and 2. drain only takes about 6hp from your bats not 175hp from your jug pet -.-;;.
All the single bat monsters were T to me and would uncharm before they died from the NM so unless your far enough away for your bat to not follow you after it uncharms I would suggest sticking to underworld bats, which were dc-em.
Bring yag drinks so you can keep blink up at all times. I used all 4 of my drinks and they were well worth the money.
The fight took me a max of 20-30mins after my friend died and I tossed about 20 bats at him before he died, each lasting about 1-2min(s).
As for toughness... this guy wasn't all as hard as I thought he was going to be. At lvl50 two lvls before 52 I soloed my brd af1 NM in rang. pass that was a whole lot harder and took 20mins and 4 jug pets, but I think it was because he would kill the mobs in the area in about 4-6hits which gave me no time to heal (I had no yag drinks ^^;) and made things dangerous.
As for the chest and getting the key don't try to drag down a leech from way on the top floor it was a waste of time because after my leech died from a double team I found that the slimes did just as good a job as the leech did. The key drop was fast but it took me over an hour to find the chest because of thfs ; ;. The opo-opo ghost is on the same floor as the slimes are and is trackable with widescan, just lock onto him and you'll always know where he is.

Man, I got a party together killed the bogy no problem. Went back to jeuno and....
bam! Found out I forgot to touch the pond after the NM....
I feel like such a newb...

He slept me twice (heart pounds).

Kept blink up and regen.
I never took a swing at him.

key drop rate is horrible ...plus thf likes to pick locks there even now. (target treasure chest twice) and went u lock on it and shortly it dissapear and a thf ran pass me next.

just tried opening chest as DRK, did not get the item. got the hairpin instead. Yes, i did all the quest requirements.
Do you need to be BST Job to open the treasure chest to get the collar?
No you do not, I opened it as whm tonight and got the collar
well, then why not just open it w/ thf then? :P
im pretty sure u need to open it as bst, but the only way to find out is open it as another job. then you can type /fume /angry and /cry or /cheer /joy /hurray. im not sure which... hmm..........

We killed the NM ghost w/ 2 53 BST... it took a while... I suggest a bigger party of BST... dont bother bringing along other jobs besides a blm to warp 2 you when you're done lol. the map i printed out @ lonely vana diel helped. you can find it @ http://www58.tok2.com/home/lonelyff/d_images/feiyin.jpg

3 bst - 50(me) -51 and 54 took down the NM. Seemed like it took forever.
NM did cast Freeze and Tornado a few times, never hit me with it since I kept as far away as was safe considering the tons of aggro mobs here. Keep blink up at all times after killing all of the pot type mobs. NM also cast curse on us that lowered us almost 200 HP.
Got the key with the help of a couple friends of mine - 61 RDM and 60 DRG.
Took longer to find the Opo-opo then it did to find the chest.

Just a note:
You do NOT have to be on your beastmaster when you do the fei yin NM. I changed to my 61 RDM instead. I actually subbed bst so that I could help out the two other bsts I went with (my charm success was 100% - 10 charms at least).
It uses ancient magic so be careful. My party consisted of 61 RDM/BST, 56 BST/WHM, 50 BST/WHM, 60 MNK/WAR, and 61 WHM/BLM. It would have been an easier fight if the mnk and whm weren't there. The WHM ended up taking nasty aggro and had ancient magic cast on him - dead. Make sure to clear the dromas first. They were not there when we started the fight, but popped in the middle (bad news), but we handled it.

Any idea on the level of the ghost?
This is really would help a BST judge how hard it will be.
Edit: I fought him last night with a 72 BST, I would not recommend tryin to solo this guy. And apparently he is about level 54ish, but he is ghost style so it counts for nothing.

I just tried to solo him as DRK75/NIN37. I managed to get him down to like 10%, but then he did Freeze which for some reason was not stunnable(he didnt resist stun either), which brought me down to 40 hp, then stonegaII(semi-fast cast) for 47 damage, that **** goes through blink -.-
Should have been pleny of time to recast blink as it casted freeze...

Get a map of Fei'yin. You need to complete the "Early bird gets the worm" and "Chasing tails" quests (zone) before you can receive the quest. The map really helps.
I solo'd Dabotz's Ghost on my first try at level 52. It was a very long, very hard, intense fight. I didn't bring any juice, but that would have been really handy. The fight lasted at least 45 minutes and I used around 3 Fish Broths (CrabFamiliar) and literally dozens and dozens of bats.
Basic strategy was keep blink up at all costs, save every bit of MP for blink and cure III when needed. I never used release, I would grab some bats (underworld or kamotzs) and throw them at him then go find my next pet and/or rest mp w/ dark staff (don't try and charm anything with this eq'd!!!!). I used a couple T kamotz and the ghost chewed them up so fast there was no worry of them uncharming. I just kept kiting him along throwing bat after bat at him and a jug as needed until he was dead. He managed to hit me with Tornado twice, but both times blink absorbed it thankfully. He also hit me melee a couple times for around 150+ and landed a crit for 280+.
This guy will take you into the yellow FAST if you get near him so take care not to be near any Utukku's or run by any of their rooms when sending next pet at him.

Note the NM spawns in the northeastern pool, the other 2 will not spawn it if you check them first. I can't remember the pos, just check the bst forums, thinking allakazham just posted these quests, its clear bst gets no loving; ;
Note that Tebhi is on the map with the torch door that you go through for the Rank 5 mission; in the middle of that map is a square room with ~4 chest key yagudo (Lutenists also drop keys) and a pool in the middle with two Oozes. The Oozes can be charmed, and can take the Yagudo one-on-one, but the Yagudo wander around a lot and link. I tried to solo a key twice and had to warp out.
A better strategy for soloing might be to drag a Yagudo Parasite (leech, 45-48) all the way here from the pool in the coffer area, behind the combination door. Broth pets might also do OK; the Yagudo are 42-49. A duo would probably do fine.
