can someone please tell me whereabouts the ship on third floor is?
the only landmarks i can think of are the dragons lair?
the egg chamber?
the elevator?
any coordinates? and where the ship is?

SummaryZeid, the sole master of the way of the Dark Knight in Vana'diel, has been sighted in the Palborough Mines. If you seek him out, he may make you an apprentice... WalkthroughCompleting this quest will allow you to change to the Dark Knight job. Gumbah is on the 2nd Floor of the mines in a house. He sends you to Palborough Mines. You might have to talk to him a few times before he does, but eventually you will see a cutscene with Werei and Volker which talks about the Palborough Mines. Once there, board the ship on the third floor at (H-8) and you will receive a two-handed sword. Equip the sword and start killing things. You need to kill at least 100 enemies with the sword in any area. Only Warriors and Dark Knights can equip the sword. Once you kill at least 100 enemies by dealing them the final blow with the sword, go to Beadeaux and a cut scene will be triggered that flags you as a Dark Knight. You go to Palborough and gnab the sword, you can be any class; just make sure to have an open slot in your inventory. Go to your residence at Bastok Mines, switch to WAR and equip the blade. Go outside and kill nothing but crap monsters, make sure you count each one you kill. I did 130 kill just to be safe. Do not zone, do not use anything else, just hack and slash all day, use nothing BUT the sword and no WS either, Might Strikes work. After a few hours, once you hit your goal. Go back in your residence, return to your main job. Keep the sword in your inventory and hitch a ride to Beaudeax. Upon entering the area, you will be rewarded with a cut scene and your DRK job. Thats it.

Afte rmy first failed attempt, I suicided in Pashaw and de-leveled to 29. (Not the solution but if you de level after getting the quest you can still do it). Anyway, I read somewhere that you have to deliver the final blow with a normal strike from the chaos bringer. Weapon skills do not count (weird huh). So I went kill about 110 mobs outside bastok (its much faster if you kill these instea dof the ones in the mine). After I finished, I went back to badeaux and sure enough th ecutscene triggered. So all I can figure is that the weaponskill think is true. It doesn't count as a kill with the sword.

Same thing with me. I killed 125+ enemies, using only the sword. All in one session, no zoning, no logging, no resting. Just tore through them then got on a chocobo to Beadeaux and got nothing; no cutscene. The only thing I can think of is that I was changing my macro's at the time, but I don't think that was it. >_< I had the killing blow on all the monsters, but then again I was in windhurst newb zone. Someone said you can check how many kills you have somewhere else, but didn't mention how. If anyone knows, help would be apprectiated.

I found out from some ppl on my LS that if you use the Great Sword Weapon Skills, that the kill doesn't count. It wont reset your kills but that one wont be added.

Ok as far as I know you must deal the death blow with the sword for all 100 mobs. I can't vouge for this because Im only lvl 19 War on Valefor. Now I dont know if the quest goes as far as only being able to use the sword during each fight, but maybe. I'm sorry if this is not much help but maybe provide a couple of ideas to try.

this is still not working for me... swaped to lvl1 war, equpied sword and bow (for better dmg) started a fight shot with bow (quick kill) killed a 150 in 1 session without dieing, changed jobs to main rode chocobo to Beadeaux got off zoned in and no scence, seams like alot of people are havint this problem

I also did this last night, killed 110 mobs as a level 1 WAR with the Chaosbringer.
I did have RDM subbed and was using DIA to make it easier, so perhaps I didnt get the killing blow, as some mobs fell from the DoT. Could this be the problem? I have to kill them with the sword alone? It is not at all clear how you have to kill hem, nor did I get any quest info in my quest log.
I switched back to RDM after 110 to make the trip and no cutscene. Tried again as level 4 WAR and again no cutscene.
Anybody actually have an answer to this one?Nearly broke my keyboard last night in temper.

I got the quest, equipped the sword, took the boat to zeruhn mines, killed 120 enemies. (I counted to 120, but actually killed alot more). After that I went straight to badeaux, and no cutscene. According to all the quest walkthroughs I read, I did nothing wrong. Does the scene start as soon as you enter badeaux or do you need to go to a certain spot for it? I never logged once or left the mines while killing the enemies either.

Nope, this doesn't work. Something is not working.
I started the quest as a level 30 Blackmage, changed to a level 8 warrior, killed atleast 120 monsters without dying, any other damage source besides the sword, and without changing jobs or logging off.
Afterwards, I promplty marched up to beadeaux and nothing happened when i got there. I then changed to my blackmage and went back and again nothing.
I know how to count, I'm not a moron... There must be something nobody notices that is required to do this.

im a 30monk i change to a war to do the quest definiatley killed over 100 changed back to monk and went to beadeaux but got no cutscene so i have a few questions
1. do i need to make the big journey all on foot with my n00b warrior or can i take a chicken with me monk?
2. does the scene happen as soon as i step into beadeaux or do i need to find him somewhere inside?

You can *start* the quest as a lvl 30 mnk. You must use a WAR/PLD to complete this quest (only 2 jobs that allow you to use Great Sword other than DRK).
Use your WAR/PLD and equip the sword, kill 100 mobs, return to Zeid as the WAR/PLD and you will be done with the quest.
All mobs kills must be with out logging off or changeing jobs.
You MUST have some sort of lvl 30 to START the quest. You MUST use WAR/PLD to complete the quest.

PLD Cant weild the Chaosbringer. You have to be a WAR. 100 Kills, the Chaosbringer must kill the mob, WS kills do not count toward the total, all kills have to be done in one area and all without interuption...still sounds easier than Bst or Drg quests ^^

I know why somepeople cutscenes dont work...happened to me too....u need to kill 100 guys and go to beraudux or whatever all in one session... u cant log off and log on..... i killed 80 guys logged off and another 20 later and it didnt work u need to kill all 100 and go to beraduax

Ok... well I killed 100 monsters with the "Chaos Bringer" so now when I visited Bordeaux it didn't trigger the cutscene. Now do I have to be war when I get to Bordeaux with the sword equipped. Or can I go there with another class selected to trigger the cutscene?

Yeah I have the exact same problem. 107 enemies killed ( I didn't miscount ), went to Beaudeux and nothing happened. Kind of angry right now.
All 100+ of yoru kills have to be in ONE zone
this means you can't do 53 in East Sarutabaruta and 54 in West Sarutabaruta for example ^_^ Hope that helps!

It can be any class. You probably just miss counted to 100. It's a pretty straight and forward quest.

Either this quest is different for some ppl or I messed up somehow. I talked to gumbah and went to the mines. Road the boat and got nothing. Talked to Gumbah again and got a cutscene. He told me to go talk to Zeid. I could not find Zeid in Beaudeaux. This is getting very frustrating. Can anyone help?

just set war so u can equip a grt sword and use whatever else you have as your other job and spend like an hour or two killing stuff and then your done, it's quite easy

Chaosbringer is a level 1 Greatsword equippable by Warrior and Dark Knight only, it requires 100 kills, anythingy, as long as it dies. You need level 30 of a job to trigger the quest, you need to complete it as a Warrior since only a WAR can equip Chaosbringer. You could have a level 30 White Mage talk to Gumbah, get the sword and switch to a level 1 Warrior and kill 100 monsters. Be wary that the sword is very weak for a Greatsword (3 damage) while being as slow as the others. The other Greatsword at level 1 is 14 damage...

Why do we have to be lvl 30? Is it the mobs? Is it a cap by the NPC? Can someone be escorted to get the sword and then take the boat out and finish the quest?

You need to be level 30 because this is an Advanced Job quest. The level restriction for starting ALL Advanced Jobs (officially) is >30 in any job.
I just want to let it be known, for the record, that I misspelled some things in my last post. I'm tired, and after I read my post I realized my errors. :P
[b][/b] So can someone answer definitively if you can be a Lvl 30 ANYTHING then equip the sword as Lvl 1 War and then become a Dark Night. I will try it myself when I reach level 30 but I am curious to know now...

The quest must be completed as a Warrior. You don't have to be level 30 as a Warrior, just level 30 as anything, but you must be a Warrior to equip the sword you are given to use.---
