SummaryZeid, the sole master of the way of the Dark Knight in Vana'diel, has been sighted in the Palborough Mines. If you seek him out, he may make you an apprentice... WalkthroughCompleting this quest will allow you to change to the Dark Knight job. Gumbah is on the 2nd Floor of the mines in a house. He sends you to Palborough Mines. You might have to talk to him a few times before he does, but eventually you will see a cutscene with Werei and Volker which talks about the Palborough Mines. Once there, board the ship on the third floor at (H-8) and you will receive a two-handed sword. Equip the sword and start killing things. You need to kill at least 100 enemies with the sword in any area. Only Warriors and Dark Knights can equip the sword. Once you kill at least 100 enemies by dealing them the final blow with the sword, go to Beadeaux and a cut scene will be triggered that flags you as a Dark Knight. NOTE: Do not kill an enemy with a weapon skill, as it will not count toward the 100 you need. Quest SeriesThis is part of the job flag quest series. Other quests of the series include:

WEll i zoned into beadeaux but nothing happened there was no cut scene or anything and i know i have killed way over 100. i killed 100 bees and i am starting to think that maybe those bees dont count. another reason why nothing happened when i zoned is that half way through the quest i died and deleveled back to 29. if any one can give me any info on why this is not working for me it will be greatly thankful. thanks in advance.

OK, heres the thing... You find that Dark Knight galka dude after you take a boat on the 3rd floor, i cant remember the position of the boat though... after the boat ride, you get the deathbringer. Go to ur own region thingy, and start killing 100 mobs (i did 110 to be sure). If you llog offm counter doesnt reset, if you die, counter doesnt reset, OK?! then after ur sure u got 100 kills, go to la thiene, Pashow marshlands, and then to the bottom right of pashow, to beaudeux or w/e its called, then u get flagged a Dark Knight immeadatly. Then after that you can turn into a DRK and start killing things like crazy. I did this quest a week ago, and it took me 4 days to get scroll of DRAIN and to look around for gear. My DRK is lvl 11 right now. BTW, You can, after 100 kills, go to MH and change into your MAIN and go to beadeux..... this is what i did.
Went to Palborough, got on boat with my friend who was also doing DRK quest, after we got deathbringer, we went and got 100 kills, then we went and changed to MAIN and got a chocobo and went to Beaudeuax. We got DRK right away when we zoned and we happy THE END

On the first floor, go to I-8 and take the lift/elevator thingy. That will spit you out on the 3rd floor and a few rooms away from the boat.

ok i've read the first page worth of posts here and i think i actually have a legit question
say i was going to get DRK or the next quest to upgrade the dang sword, would me and another person be able to party up and collectively kill 100 enemies, or would we each need to kill our own 100 still?
like i mean how it says "____ defeated the Killer Bee" would a partied group count as one for each, or just whoevers name is there?

Is there a way to find out how many kills you have ingame. I been at it for a day and I forgot how many Kills I got and don't wish to be running back and forth to see if I finished the quest. Any help is appreciated.
Ya I would like to know how you are supposed to keep count of 100 mobs in thes quest too, I've lost count also!

I've just unlocked dark knight job and here are my advice to do it painlessly (or as much as possible) :
- you can zone, change job, as much as you want. You may just lost count of your victims.
- you can use any subjob
And the trick i used :
Use 2 swords and macro to change equip
I personnaly used a Wax Sword +1 around San d'Oria.
One hit with the One handed sword : -15 hp
/equip main "Chaosbringer"
One hit with Chaosbringer : -5 hp, one dead rabbit
/equip main "Wax Sword +1"
Find next victim and wait for attack command recast:-)
The beauty of the trick is that it is the delay of the one hand sword that is applied between the hits.
Enjoy, future fellows of the dark side

think i can do this with a 18 war...
Once I finish the 100 monster, do I need to be a warrior or can I carry(not Equiped) the weapon into Beadeaux?

When I did this quest I died, I zoned, I killed mobs in different areas, and I did get the Beadeaux cutscene.
The things you can't do are: Kill mobs with a WS, Kill mobs with Magic, Kill mobs with any weapon other than the Chaosbringer.
Also remember that some mobs can kill themselves (damn bees). If the mob suicides it doesn't count towards your total number of kills.
I'd suggest using nothing but the attack command while actively doing this quest.

Yes, it's true, I finished the quest today. I killed the 100 monsters over 3 days in different zones, dying, zoning, and even changing jobs in between. It doesn't matter where or when you kill the monsters as long as the sword deals the death blow without a WS. But you can USE WS or magic during the fight, just end the fight with a normal blow.

i am a lvl 30 blm with a lvl 8 war. wut im doin now is im shootin tiny mandragoras with my crossbow. this leaves them with one hp and i just kill them with the sucky sword. will this work? ive killed about 85 mobs like that and i really hope it counts
Yes, as long as final kill is with sword, it will count.
OH my god. This has got to be the worst posting for any quest ever. I've never seen so many stupid questions. It's freaking simple. Equip the sword and kill 100 freaking enemies in a row. Long as you kill the damn thing with a regular attack it counts. Yes you can be lvl 1 million war or be whm and heal yourself, you can do anything you want as long as the stupid sword is used to kill it. Jesus christ some ppl are just brain dead I swear.

If you look, there's really none of the repeated questions, just people asking about different scenarios that MIGHT affect the outcome.
Would kinda suck to think you have finished a quest, trekk halfway across the world, and then find out that you did something that voided all your work.

Hi, i have lvl 30 mnk, and have talked to gumbah lots of times, but i cannot get the quest, do i need to get more fame in bastok? or maybe reach rank 3, as im from sandy. would either of those help do you think?

I had 100 + kills and i went Beadeaux and got a cut scene for a Bastok mission rather than the DRK quest. I completed the quest and rezoned but no cut scene for DRK. what's up?
you need to go to Pashhow Marshlands thats where you finish the quest. there is a zone at L-11 that is where the DRK is

I have a question... can you kill 80 monsters zone into bastok come back and kill 20 more then go and still get the cutscene my friend says if I zone it gets resent to 0 and I have to start over my other friend says I dont so I just need to confirm it because I've zoned like 4 times since I started and im sure I've killed 100+ monsters but I dident get the cutscene... also do I need to go as war to get the cutscene or can I go as rdm and get the cutscene as long as the swords killed 100 monsters?
you can go at any job, but you shouldn't zone and do not use magic.
Please dont post false information! You can zone, use magic, log out, nearly ne thing long as you kill with the sword and not its ws!
