SummaryZeid, the sole master of the way of the Dark Knight in Vana'diel, has been sighted in the Palborough Mines. If you seek him out, he may make you an apprentice... WalkthroughCompleting this quest will allow you to change to the Dark Knight job. Gumbah is on the 2nd Floor of the mines in a house. He sends you to Palborough Mines. You might have to talk to him a few times before he does, but eventually you will see a cutscene with Werei and Volker which talks about the Palborough Mines. Once there, board the ship on the third floor at (H-8) and you will receive a two-handed sword. Equip the sword and start killing things. You need to kill at least 100 enemies with the sword in any area. Only Warriors and Dark Knights can equip the sword. Once you kill at least 100 enemies by dealing them the final blow with the sword, go to Beadeaux and a cut scene will be triggered that flags you as a Dark Knight. NOTE: Do not kill an enemy with a weapon skill, as it will not count toward the 100 you need. Quest SeriesThis is part of the job flag quest series. Other quests of the series include:

ok i started this quest but paused for a question . i( lvl 1 war ^^) am currently usin an onion knife to weakopn and qswitchin to the chaos bringer for the deathblow will this work or do i have to start over and kill only with the chaosbringer equipped
I just used the chosbringer and it worked. It doesn't take that much longer to do. At least I don't think it did.
I got to Zeid in the mines and afterwards I found out I couldn't get the sword because my inventory was full. If I go back to Zeid will he be their and will he give me the sword? Plz help.
yes he will give you the sword if you go back. This goes for any quest. If your invo. is full, just make it so its not full and talk to the NPC again and you will get the item.

does the monsters have to be easy prey or can i just do it at level 30 and kill everything i see in south gustaberg as a level 30 war?
they can be anything - I killed the 100 mobs as my war 15 (all the easy crap out in Gustaberg), but war 75 would be ok too.
Anybody that can wield the sword can technically do it - but having war leveled up a bit makes it much easier to do this quest.

ANyway to check how many kills you have? (I will be a lot farther behind what i think i am..stupid WS kills..
Ive been murdering flys and worms in Gustaberg no problem I leveled war to 18 before I started thief so It was no problem busy working on upgrading it now
If you kill your 100 in Gustaberg or Sarutabaruta, just be warned that "Final Sting" from the bees will ***** you over, since the bees will get the last blow--not you.

I'm planning on doing this right outside Bastok. So once I get my 100 kills can I go in to Bastok and get a chocobo to get to Beadeaux?

If this was asked and answered already...sorry.
Could I possibly use a subjob, such as WHM, to heal myself and have the kills count.... or must you go out as just a WAR?
And from reading a few pages on here, it seems opinions sway differently from... Yes, you can kill stuff in seperate zones and/or... No, you must do it all in one single zone. Can someone who's actually done this, confirm if you can kill things from zone to zone?
Insead of waiting for a Raise, I zoned back to my HP in Sandy.

70 sounds reasonable...but to be on the safe side i'ld pretend you had 50 and start counting from there...just so you dont run all the way to the final area to have him tell you you aren't done
Well it is hard to say about how many kills you have but i would have to guess if your war started at lvl 1 and you are now 4 and you only killed tunnel worms. Well from lvl 1 - lvl 2 you killed 10, depended on exp u were getting from lvl 2- lvl 3 u killed about 20-25, and finally from lvl 3- lvl 4 it would be about 40 kills. Remember I'm just adding from tunnel worms if u killed anything like forest hares or other types of worms my calculations are off! (but my guess would be about 70 kills) Please rank up if this helps!

Okay, i got my 100 kills...
#1 - do i go to beadeaux next?
#2 - i'm only lvl6 warrior, chances of surviving are very very slim...
can i change job to get there? because i'll unequip the chaosbringer and was told tat it will lose all the kills

Yes switch back to your high lvl job to get there and yes you will still recived the cut screen!

Yes you can! Just make sure you dont kill it with a WS!

Lets see here, I was a level 30 WAR when I completed the quest, it was not hard, and as I see it... Must be the easiest quest I have done. You CAN zone or else all of your kills would be in Beaudeux and ummm, if anyone else notices, I can do about 23 to the level 1 mobs, what are you doing against Quads hard at level 25? *laughs* The sword sucks, but it does get better with Berserk and Mith kabobs... Heres my Q, who do you talk to after your 200 kills to change the ChaosBringer, to the DeathBringer? Much apprechiated.

For those who did use weapon skills to get their 100 and didnt get the cut scene, is it possible to just go to another zone and kill a few more with the sword until the 100 is reached? Such as killing another 10 properly if your sure there were only 10 killed before with a weapon skill?

This may sound stupid but is Beadeaux the same place as Zeid is?
The killing blow MUST be from a regular sword strike. Weaponskills won't work, dropping the mob with dia or any other spell won't work, using a ranged attack to kill it won't work. KILL WITH THE SWORD.
I spent almost 2 hours getting my 100 kills, I walk into Beadeaux and nothing happens. I read these posts and find out that all kills from Weapon Skills don't count. =(

So do you have to kill the monsters with normal attack to get the kill count or can you attack with range attack (Cross-bow) because it would be alot easier to use range attack.
The final blow has to dealt by the Chaosbringer. You can reduce its life with a Crossbow, just don't kill it, otherwise it won't count towards the 100 kills required. Good Luck to you.
