Your Launch Day Guide to RIFT Tools on ZAM

RIFT's launch day is here! Are you ready? Check out everything you need to know about ZAM's databases, calculators, tools and more!

MMO gamers have come to expect resources like Wowhead to be available at or near release, so we’re here to make sure you have the same sort of tools and resources at your disposal. To make your life easier in the early days of RIFT, we’ve compiled a nice list of ZAM resources to utilize while you’re playing your first few hours of RIFT.

Further details can be found after the break, but if you just want to browse what we have to offer, feel free to examine the Soul Tree Calculator, Achievement Database, Ability Database, and Wiki at your own pace. Also, don’t forget to check out the Coming Soon! section to see what’s next up for the ZAM RIFT!

Soul Tree Calculator

This tool operates much like Wowhead’s talent calculator and allows you to plot out what souls you’d like to use in RIFT and what points you will spend in those souls. With the number of options available in RIFT, this can be a life saver if you don’t want to sink extra money into re-speccing your character.

Once your build is perfected, a list of abilities that accompanies the souls displays at the bottom of the calculator, giving you a glimpse of what you’ll be able to accomplish in game.

Finally, the ability to link a build from the calculator gives you the option to show off your min-maxing skills to all your forum, chat, and Facebook friends. If you register and login to ZAM, you’ll also be able to comment and rate builds – so if you think your friends build is utter scat, you can let him know!

Achievement Database

If you’re an achievement collector, this is definitely the tool for you. With a few options selected in the filter, you can search through the entire list of in-game achievements by categories like character advancement, PvP, dungeons, planes, and zones. Additionally, the list can be sorted by faction, so if you’re looking to show your pride and collect all the Defiant based achievements, that’s a totally viable option.

Ability Database

While you’re playing an MMO, it’s not always easy to figure out exactly what abilities would work best for you while you’re PvEing of PvPing, so we’ve gathered them all for you! Using our ability database let’s you quickly and easily locate exactly what abilities are used by souls, which we think is pretty handy.

Wiki

If there’s any information that requires more of an explanation, you’ll find it in our RIFT-based wiki. From callings to races to factions, everything that a person might need to know about RIFT is either in our wiki or will shortly be included once the game has been released.

Coming Soon!

And there will definitely be more on its way within the next few days / weeks. We will have database listings for items, NPCs, top soul build lists, and much, much more! We’re the company that brought you Wowhead, so we will do everything in our power to make sure you get the top tier experience you’ve come to expect from the ZAM Network.

First off I'm wondering why all the FF players take time to create an account to then post "I don't care about this!!"

Second, I'm looking forward to try and see if this is just another MMO that'll look impressing in the first few weeks and then lose people like Conan, Warhammer online and whatnot.
Love it or leave it

Wow, what a terrible bunch of trolls you all are...

Have any of you been playing rift for the past few days? It's a great game, it's fresh and captivating, most of all fun. It has had the power to pull me away from WoW completely, having finished all of the current raid content there. I find it amusing there are FF players denouncing this game, I completely dislike the FF series and JRPG's in general, let alone mmo's based off their lore, they are gimmicky and awkward. You talk about rift being a rip-off of other mmo's... well that's exactly what works. WoW and just about every other mmo was based off something before it, Everquest, Asheron's call, Ultima Online etc etc. I like being able to jump into a new game and have a familiar layout and control system, yet still new aspects of the game to figure out on my own.

Rift I would highly recommend for experienced and new mmo players alike. Even though we are still in the honeymoon period (ie Zomg this game is the best it's gonna kill WoW ommggg) I still foresee this game being captivating enough to last a few months, which is definitely worth my 50 dollars. Perhaps the end-game content will end up being stale and unbalanced, that is where the true test will be. For now either buy it, play it and enjoy it, or go and troll elsewhere.

Thanks ZAM for putting up some info about Rift. It is much appreciated.
Trolls all up in har

Looks like the FFXIV players were torn away from their great game long enough to look and troll another MMO.

Oh wait, their game sucks and they don't play it at all so now their free time is spent trolling other games to make themselves feel good about wasting their time playing a crap game.

Color me clueless, but didn't Wowhead exist before ZAM?

No. Wowhead did not exist before ZAM. Alkahazam's (ZAM network) was started during the UO (Ultima Online) days. Many of us(like Orbsydia and Catacombs network along with Drakes) worked hard to create a community for MMO's and catalog their content. That eventually grew into what we have now. Drakes, and as far as I know Orbsydia, moved on but others stepped in and continued where we left off. There is an AMAZING history out there if you take time to research it.
FFXIV Fail Sauce

Mwhahaha!!!

FFXIV is such a fail game they had to link to a page sponsored by a game that actually makes money.

Unlike the fail project of SE's fail staff entitled Final Fantasy!

cant you all tell that rift is paying them to do this? Rift looks like just another crappy free to paly game that actualy costs money. they have a big advertisment fund and I guess its the only way they can even hope to get any players.

If you really want palyers, do something unique, not make the same crap as every other free MMO with the exact same graphics that exists.
Weak!

And to all you anti-FF people out there, drop it. I've played FF games since FF1 and each game has it's own merits.

Same back to you diehard FF people bashing other games.

BOTH of ya drop it, geez.
