Went in with a "Normal" exp setup, 2 war/nin, rng/nin, pld/war, blm/whm, whm/blm... Had no problems on the Boss, used only one anima, and it honestly wasn't needed. Just went in and slashed it to death. No challenge...
A bad night gone well.

Alrighty, so the night before we beat Holla quite successfully. Tonight we were out for Dem... Started out with my LS buds Joshy(WHM/BLM) and Celexa(BLM/WHM). I myself was a WAR/NIN. Shortly thereafter we acquired Jahlives, another WAR/NIN. After some Jeuno shouting we got a RNG/NIN named Liringlas. We debated for a while as to if we will even get a SMN for this and decided to get another RNG. We were set once Soriano(RNG/NIN) joined and now began our journey to Promy-Dem. Outside we noticed the ??? for the gobby and decided to kill it later once we were done. After entering and piddling around a bit Celexa began to feel ill. We made it to the 2nd floor when poor Celexa could take the illness no more and had to log. (Celexa im sorry and hope you get better!)It was here we decided we were going to kill this boss one way or another.

We gathered ourselves on the 3rd floor and made sure to keep it cool if we got aggro because panics would get us nowhere. After a little sneaking and a couple of aggros on part from Soriano ^_^ we came upon a roadblock of some T's and IT's. Soriano then ran... got aggro and we would raise him after only to discover the NM Satiator was mixed in with the bunch. The rest despawned as he slowly dredged his was back. We ran past it over to Soriano and cleared out the lil ones then raised him and waited for the weakness to go away. Popped our knuckles, cracked our necks and killed the MR to finally reach the 4th floor. It was here we got buffed and hauled it all the way to the Spire zone with no loss and complete success.

Outside the Web of Recollections we counted up our anima and figured who would go when. At 50% I was to hit it with a Hysto followed by my 2 hour, along with Jahlives. At 30% Soriano and Liringlas were to 2 hour as well and Joshy would 2 hour if needed for a few extra precious seconds. (The others threw their animas when needed.)

We entered, buffed up and saw the wonderfully ugly Progeneratorsitting there. The 2 RNG's opened up with a volley of Barrage and then us WAR's took turns provoking hate as we casted Utsusemi. Joshy was doing a great job of keeping us alive, and both RNG's were really hitting it well. At 50 I used my Hysteroanima and forgot to 2 hour as Jahlives hacked away at it. Near 30% or so they used the Terroanima so it was running all over and pooping its little guys all over. The RNG's 2 hour'd and blew it away! After a wonderful cutscene we followed up with some fireworks thanks to Soriano and found that the ??? had not left outside. So we killed the Goblin Archaeologist. (Thankfully was weaaaak.) Got 1 Golden Beatcoin which Joshy won with a lot of 992.

So to anyone out there! You dont always have to have the perfect party setup to do everything in FFXI. Good Luck and see you at Promy-Mea! (Dont forget Hi-Potions Warriors!!!)
Done with this one.

I beat this one tonight, and it was suprisingly easy. After almost three hours, (I kid not) at least 10 deaths, and a lot of fake recepticles, we arrived at the 4th floor. Unlike Holla, you can run straight from the Memory Stream to the Spire without any real risk of aggro.

On level 3 our RNG had done a hard disconnect without warning us. We were pretty sure we were going to die, as we had but 4 animas with us and were a RNG short. However, with that much time and effort expended on getting so far, we weren't going to leave without giving the Progenerator a good fight.

Party setup was as follows:

Esthalos, WHM/BLM (me)
Dano, SMN/WHM
Thalvius, WAR/NIN
Zada, BLM/WHM
Yantra, PLD/WAR

We went in, I buffed up and used Blink and Stoneskin (both were indispensable to my survival), and attacked. We fought it down to around 75% HP, using 2 animas, and then Dano used Astral Flow. We had hate control issues, so I don't know if all 3 uses connected, but by the time I checked the Progenerator's HP again he was down to probably 20%. I knew we had it. We used the remainder of our animas and beat it to death from there. It was a pretty decisive victory.

Just a few comments for the WHMs out there: use Blink and Stoneskin because if you get hate, he'll kill you in 3-4 hits without them. Bring Ethers. I used Hi-Ethers, though they take a long time to use. Also bring Yagudo Drinks. I had no problem with MP because of these. Sure, you'll drop a few gil, but it's worth it.

Overall a fairly easy fight, even with 5. Plan ahead and you're fine.

I did all 3 Prommy's a while ago so I don't remember the exact setup. I can tell you what was "different" was that we have 2 beastmaster in our party. I almost left when I did my member serach but the 2 beastmasters are my in game friends.

Most likely she said, "Wanna help me do prommy's?"

Me "Ok"

So yes, the BST part shocked me. Anyway off we go. Totally fun and surprisingly easy. Don't know if anyone has taken BST along for this.

Dragged my SMN here tonight to help out a friend with farming animas and ran across something that bugged me--

Anyone have any idea wtf the ??? at K-12 on the very first floor is for?

Edit -- nm, it's for the NPC Promy quest thingie.

I like Dynamis better than I like this place. This place is Dynamis meets Valkurm Dunes. For reals. Like, taking noobs and then putting them into Dynamis. Kind of like that. gar...

Edit: Destroyed this place the other day. Had two Summoners on board. Absolutely owned this. We even had time for the ENM and guess what? We got the rare drop so now we're rich in addition to getting the win. Bring those Summoners and macro the Psych-anima for their two hour.

I THINK, if you reach the castle at the end, just before the BCNM battle, if you zone back out into the area, your cap will still be off. Just a guess, I've never tried it before. He probably went back to farm the "memories" to either sell or craft with.

actually you receive the cap again, if you zone back into the capped area. I've done it plenty of times to either kite a mob near a dead member, for whm to raise or for member to reraise and run for zone. it does recap ya...-_- be nice if it didn't lol.

Basicaly if you want to continue the missions in FFII, you have to complete the Prommies regardless of your "Job". Although it is very nice to have the time to level numerous "Jobs" some of us really love our 1 main "Job".My character is a Warrior which i've read{No Thanks}for Prommies but I have defeated all 3. The point is to have fun and I did. Thankyou SE for a great Mission. Btw, the only person playing FFII thats not a nooby is the first person who ever logged on.

Made a successful run on this with following party: nin/war, blm/nin, 2x rng/nin, smn/whm, and whm/blm.
2 animas used, 2 ppl 2 houred rng and smn.
We did not follow the posts here just went in with a good dd pt setup and everyone did their job.
slow hits allow you to keep utsus up most of the fight, however i do not reccomend kiting the mob, just stand and fight.
Animas are key to the fight, a must for anygroup unless your pt is the Ideal set up.
One down, two to go, maybe both on first run too lol. GL.

Well I tried this for hte first time last night. No joy.
Here is a little advise from what I learned. We had a fairly well balanced PT RNG/NIN (me), WHM/SMN, WAR/NIN, 2 BLM/WHM, RDM/WHM. not what I would call Ideal for this but not to bad either. Next time here is what I would do. RDM {No thanks.} dont get me wrong I like having a RDM in my PT when I am leveling but here they just lack the needed power. WAR/NIN {No thanks.} Again I would love to have one while leveling but as the main and only tank they cant keep the hate, and this boss hits too often to get Utusemi up after the counter resets. Here is what I want to take on my next run at it

RNG/NIN x2
PLD/WAR
BLM/WHM
WHM/SMN
and fill the final slot with either another PLD or a good DD like another RNG/NIN or SAM/RNG. We did bring alot of Hi-potions and I would again bring more. Have everyone that needs to use them to make a macro.

/item "Hi-potion" <me>

That is all that is needed and it works fine Hi-potions take about 1.5 seconds to activate and I did not get interrupted by the boss when he hit me as I took one. I hope this helps any that have not done this yet on the PT setup as for the tactic when you are in the fight well I am going for the all out tank and kill method like we do with normal mobs since this thing does not have any AOE, although any one that has a ranged main attack like a RNG or BLM I recommend that you still stay back from the fight my daggers did 0 dammage the whole time that I was melee'n but my arrows were hitting for 50+. This fight is not easy by any means this mob has very high defence so being able to stay in the fight is the key here. Good luck to all you that are going to try this in the near future.

W00T!!!!
I fired the final shot that killed this pain in the a** last night. This DEM boss (sorry not going to try to spell its name) is a tough bugger. Not that the fight was all that hard it was just that I am used to doing over 80 dmg per hit not this 40-50 pathetic hits. Oh well we won, and I made a new friend out of the PT we had thank you Norma (PLD) for helping us achieve this victory. our PT setup was:

2 RNG
2 BLM
1 WHM
1 PLD
we used psychoanimas when we were in trouble and that allowed the whm to get the pld's health up. This mob hits hard and fast and near the end it has a really hard attack that does 200+ dmg that is hard to handle no matter how your PT is setup. on this fight we tanked and killed just like a normal fight. It worked out good we had the PLD determine when the 2 hrs would be used by starting hers and then the BLMs nuking hte hell out of it. The mobs health dropped fast then and after the 2hrs wore off I hit it with barrage for about 200 and then my Eagle eye shot took the mob for 380. That was alot better than the first time I hit this mob with my EES I only did around 190 :(. Again thanks to the PT I had last night you guys were great sending me to Lufaise Meadows.

For thoes woundering how to get the map, you first need to obtain the item 'Beryl Memosphere' from a Groger. just take a few people there to farm Animas, your bound to get a few while doing this. Later when your actually going though the area, on the last floor in (J-9) theres a large yellow-ish sphere that has a ??? in it. Trade the Beryl Memosphere to it and you revice the map. Theres a few mobs that tend to hover around the thing to just be careful. have your pt stand back. I died while doing this only because theres a quick little cutsceen that stops you. guy just walked up and had his way with me. >_< have your blm tractor you out, safest thing to do.

theres several of the yellow-ish sphere things around the area, im not sure if the ??? changes location each time or not, this is just where it was for me. next time i go on a dem run ill have to check it again, see if its there or moved. Good Luck ^_^
Its easy!

Yeah, since the December update, these things are cake. My best advice is to bring in only a party of 6. Anything more is unnecessary, and will just lead to death due to disorganization and uneeded aggro of have to sneak 12 people up 4 floors. When you get to the BC, just go in and tank it like any other Incredibly Tough XP mob, thats what my Ls did. Of course, bring those items needed in a BC, hi-pots, ethers, MP regen, HP regen.... etc. Other than that, its easy. My biggest piece of advice is just dont overthink it, go in and kick some butt. Good Luck!

[ Promyvion: Dem - Notes & Strategies ]

Since there seems to be a lack of information on Promyvion: Dem, I thought it wouldn't hurt to write this up.

To provide an opening summary, the point of the Promyvion missions is to enter the various Promyvions, defeat the Memory Receptacles on each floor to proceed, and ultimately, to conquer the BCNM in the tower at the very end.

[ Items to Bring Along ]

1. Potions

Everyone, including mages, should have Potions and/or Hi-Potions. I personally brought along a couple Hi-Potions, but numerous Potions, since those can be used instantly. Though I did not have to use them all, you never know when things may go wrong, but I'm sure many mages have died while waiting for their MP to regenerate.

For those who are unfamiliar with them, Potions regenerate Hit Points (HP).

2. Ethers

All mages should have some Ethers, if not Hi-Ethers. Drinks can only do so much. If you're in a pinch, and you need that MP, that's it right there: You need that MP. Alternatively, you can bring along Mulsum, which gives you less MP, but which also works instantly. I personally had two Ethers and did not have to use them.

For those who are unfamiliar with them, Ethers regenerate Mana/Magic Points (MP).

3. Regen/Refresh Items (e.g. Drinks)

For the sake of the Promyvions, I brought along Yagudo Drinks, and I highly recommend them to any mage who is going to Promyvion. Naturally, if you can't afford a whole bunch of them -- I took seven -- try to at least buy some MP regenerating juices. For melee, you can bring along HP regenerating items if you want to, but you won't want to use them in the middle of the BCNM battle. Having HP regen isn't nearly as useful as having a Potion or a Hi-Potion in that inventory slot instead. Still, if you have room to spare, and want to bring some, by all means; just make sure you have the essentials taken care of first.

4. Anima

See the next section for an explanation of anima and their value.

[ Anima & Traveling to the Goal ]

If you haven't farmed for anima before, know that you should. They can make or break the battle against the boss of any Promyvion, and although they're 2,000G a pop, they're still worth it. Why? Here's a few reasons: The drop itself is free, and relatively common -- if you're used to coffer key drop rates, you'll love this in comparison -- and you'd have invested much more money into Potions, Hi-Potions, Ethers, Yagudo Drinks, and more that you could potentially lose with nothing gained.

In short, consider anima to be Promyvion insurance: It won't guarantee that you'll be completely satisfied in case of an accident, but you'll have some coverage, at least.

Go with a PT to your Promyvion of choice, kill mobs, and get Recollections (e.g. Recollection of Guilt). Bring these to Harith in the Grand Duke's Palace in Ru'Lude Gardens of Jeuno (the small building next to where Maat is standing). {Trade} him the Recollection and 2,000G. It will be instantly made into an anima for you, which you can use on the enemy like any other item. (You do not {Trade} it to the enemy!)

Read the following item descriptions to gain an understanding of what they do, and where their respective Recollections drop:

[link="http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?fitem=5886"]Psychoanima[/link]
[link="http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?fitem=7024"]Terroanima[/link]
[link="http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?fitem=7025"]Hysteroanima[/link]

Now, on to your journey to the ENM! Most likely, you won't have a map. Don't be worried about that. The Promyvions are vaguely maze-like, but there are no walls, so you can see across a gap and get your bearings. Furthermore, you'll need someone with Wide Scan, and I'll get into another reason for that shortly; the first is because they can find the Memory Receptacles. Those are your goals.

[ Warp (Memory Receptacle) Locations ]

On fighting the Memory Receptacles: Make sure that everyone stays away from them! Your tanks can {Provoke} them, but unless they can somehow manage good DMG against them, it's better to keep them far away. The Memory Receptacles' AOE attack will send you flying out of melee range anyway, and it will build up to a lot of DMG over time. The best strategy is to have a SMN's Avatar (suggestion: Ramuh), a BLM's nukes, and a RNG's Ranged Attacks doing the dirty work. Let the melee kill the Strays, and the RNG if absolutely necessary. Keep defensive buffs up, too.

The first gate I entered was not far from the entranceway at all. My party ran in a straight line, and got right to it. Our Wide Scan user, a RNG, found it easily.

The second gate I entered was at (D-8).

The third gate was at (G-13), but on the third floor, you may run into a fake Memory Receptacle. This is another reason why having someone with Wide Scan is essential. Without it, you may run around Promyvion for hours, risking life and limb, only to find a Memory Receptacle that winds up being fake in the end.

On the final floor, you won't have to fight a Memory Receptacle, and your best plan is to run for the zone while avoiding aggro. That's right, there's a zone! Considering, if you do get aggro, get ready to haul. If you don't make it, don't drag your party members into your death; let your WHM {Raise} you when it's safe to do so. If you don't think your EXP is expendable, you should not be doing Promyvions.

Using POS reports as checkpoints, here's a rough idea on how to get to the big tower (zone): 1. Run to (K-5). 2. Run from here to (J-6). 3. Run straight from there to (I-7), and take a right at the corner. 4. (1-8), which is right around the corner, is your destination. Really, as long as you know you're going to (I-8), you're golden.

[ About the Boss ]

Happy opening note: This ENM (Empty Notorious Monster), Progenerator, does not have AOE attacks! Enjoy.

The boss you'll be fighting is notorious for the small clones of itself -- henceforth referred to as "babies" -- which it spawns. If you think you can get away with it, they're so small of a concern that you can actually ignore them and defeat the boss regardless. Some people will suggest that you don't pay attention to the babies. My party did.

In our situation, the RNG handled the babies. They would use Ranged Attacks on them until they were defeated, and afterward, they would concentrate on the ENM again. If you have a SMN, {Thunderspark} from Ramuh is useful against the babies as well. Your BLM's -ga spells are not as useful as they are in other applications, but your mileage may vary.

To note, our PT consisted of a WHM/BLM (myself), two WAR/NIN, one RNG/NIN, one BLM/WHM, and one SMN/WHM.

Summarized strategy: Buff at beginning (Protectra, Shellra, Blink, Stoneskin, Utsusemi). Heal MP to full. SMN uses {Astral Flow} at beginning if available, and lets Ramuh own the Progenerator while the WAR/NINs hold it still. Make sure all hits connect! Whether the SMN had {Astral Flow} or not, you would proceed with the WAR/NINs holding it as still as possible. RNG, BLM, WHM and SMN keep their distance, in case they get aggro. (Why, considering that there's no AOEs? Simple: This ENM hits HARD.) Start using animas when it's about half-dead or in case of an emergency. Endure and win.

Now, you may be thinking: What kind of a strategy is that? It's simple, straight-forward, and it's what you have to do. This ENM's strength is its physical attacks. You must outlive it while steadily dealing DMG, and keeping yourself (and possibly others) alive.

[ White Mage Specific Notes ]

Considering that I went as a WHM, here's my little notes section.

1. Concentrate on MP+ gear, not MND+. This is usually expected of WHMs regardless of race and situation, but you will need it here. These battles are rather long, and you will need to {Cure} a lot. This enemy's physical attacks and specials will nearly rend your PT members lifeless (knocking them down from full HP to sub-100 HP in one strike). {Cure} IIIs will happen. You'll need the MP to make them happen.

2. Eat items that expire quickly and help with MP regen while traveling to the boss, like cookies. Bring along a pie for the final ENM battle. You will not need so much MP while fighting Memory Receptacles or general mobs, so go ahead and eat cookies -- I personally chose Ginger Cookies -- while making your way through Promyvion. This will help you /heal to full faster, and your PT will get to the end quicker. When you're about to go into the ENM battle, however, pop a pie and /heal to full again. I used a Rolanberry Pie.

3. Keep Blink and Stoneskin up, but not at the sacrifice of your fellow PT members. Cast it after you've just defeated a Memory Receptacle, when there's a tangle of mobs in your path that you're waiting on, or while others are /healing and you have a healthy amount of MP over them. Only cast it in battle if your tanks have {Regen}, your MP is in good shape, and, basically, your immediate Curing attention is not needed. Do not cast them during the ENM battle, only before. They should not wear off during the battle unless you take a very long time or are getting the stuffing beaten out of you (which, hopefully, won't happen much; I drew aggro twice, and was only hit once, even though I had to toss out {Cure} IIs and IIIs. Simply be careful). If they do wear off in the ENM battle, you should grin and bear it. Everyone else in your PT needs your healing power. Just be careful about how you distribute it.

4. Regularly pop MP regen drinks during the ENM battle, but don't waste them beforehand. Self-explanatory. I only had to /heal once during the ENM battle, and the BLM/WHM took up Curing while I did so. Those Yagudo Drinks are expensive, but you'll be spending even more Gil if your PT is defeated repeatedly. Pop 'em like candy.

5. Do not waste MP on {Banish}. In {Promyvion - Mea}, the regular mobs were, on average, weak to {Banish}. I had a lot of fun nuking and healing simultaneously (within reason, of course, my primary focus being my PT's health). In Dem, that's not the case. Additionally, and regardless of what Promyvion you're in at the time, don't bother casting {Banish} on the ENM.

Aside from the WHM basics, like keeping {Regen} up on the tanks and melee, that about covers what I did specifically for Promyvion.

[ Closing Notes ]

Party Members of Pandemonium: Salya, Vauclaran, Silmaure, Robynbanks, Wicked, and myself, Kohan.

I hope this helped someone. Our PT did not know what to do and could not find a good guide, and we only proceeded thanks to the words of our fellow Pandemoniacs and one PT member who did it once prior. Good luck to you.
