Everyone says this is great for mage jobs, but it's actually even better for low-level DD jobs who solo /WHM. I've soloed WAR, THF and NIN up to level 37 this way. Here's how:
#1: Try to maximize the total amount of MP you have. If you're rich, get yourself one or two astral rings. Anything to bring your MP pool close to the amount restored by a drink. Being a Mithra, I used RSE gear (+48) a lot when I hit lv. ~ 30.
#2: Get your cooking up to level 25. Juices are great for cooking skill-ups, as you can use them as you level up a job as well. Orange up to level 10, Apple up to level 20, Pineapple up to 30, Melon up to 40 (See a pattern? :) You'll have to do one or two other recipes between gaps to skill up closer. See the cooking recipes.
#3: Get a few inventory quests done, as increased space means you'll be holding more synthesis materials out in the field. See the gobbie bag quests.
#4: Get some MND+ equipment to you swap in & out to maximize Cures' effectiness. The Justice badge quest is free and +3 MND at level 7, for example. You can also buy it for cheap at the auction house. Add more MND until Cure cures for 30, Cure II for 90. Example Cure macro: /equip Neck "Justice Badge", /magic Cure <me>, /wait 8, /equip Neck "Spike Necklace".
#5: Farm water clusters. Pashow marshlands is a good spot for those.
#6: Buy your materials at regional vendors, for Pete's sake.
#7: Go for Easy Prey. You heard me, Easy Prey. Four 25 EXP mobs in a row non-stop are better than a 100 EXP mob that you almost die from and have to rest afterwards. With Easy Prey, you cure yourself in-between fights, pop a juice when your MP is low, and continue. The EXP numbers will seem low but consider that you'll never have to wait for a PT, never die, go AFK when you like, log-in & log-out while in the field and pick up right from where you stopped, and you'll only have to deal with one moron, not five. (^,^)
With Pineapple juice as WAR/WHM, for example, I never stopped, as 15 juices kept me refreshed for a full hour.
