well wtf... dunno if any one will read this or if any one cares but i gotta vent some where...
tried to sighn a pair for a buddy who has always been helpful for getting guild points and skill ups, so the least i could do was sighn him a pair of these.

Nala, the reason that you tried 14 syn and fail to HQ one is that you only meet tier I (8-10% HQ rate). The lvl require is :
Clothcraft (43) + 31 = 74 Clothcraft
Goldsmithing (20) + 31 = 51 Goldsmithing
As mention, you said your clothcraft is 74+1 and your goldsmithing is only 50. This only make you on tier I UNLESS you get advance support for your goldsmithing which bring you to Clothcraft 74+1 Goldsmithing 50+3 which make you on Tier II (25-30% HQ rate). This will surely give you better chance to get a HQ on it.

Sorry to hear about your luck but first i wanna ask, did you get any breaks? If you answered no to that question then chances are you were not facing the "optimal" HQ direction and or tier lvl, and yes they really do exist, personally a month or so ago, i chose the lvl 18 craft kenpogi's to HQ (+1 sells for 20k and no subs atm) so i equipped my earth staff and i got enough materials to make 6 kenpogis, went in first person view and got in my direction first synth was NQ second was a HQ 3rd was a break 4th was a NQ 5th was a HQ and 6th was a NQ, i was thinking to myself that break had to be accidental even trying to HQ not sure why i would break a lvl 18 craft being 60 levels over, so desythed the 3 NQ's tried another and a NQ.. at this point i was like wtf and pretty pissed, soooo bought enough for 4 more kenpogis, and it went like this HQ,HQ,break,break. At that point i started believing the rumors i heard from fellow crafters, if your trying to HQ and your not breaking your not in the right tier or not facing the "optimal" HQ direction. I would say get your cloth to 80 your gold should be fine, get a earth staff (it never hurts ^^), once you get 80 and a staff go in first person and face South try about 5-6 synths, no luck go south east but im like 85% sure South is for HQ rate but its been awhile since ive had to deal with Earth Crystals been making rainbow threads for so long all i know now is lightning crystals ><, so it may very well be south east, and as you know darksday/earthsday/windsday with advanced image support and on a full moon would be the ideal HQ rate on these, and of course a second opinion never hurts ^^b Good Luck.

I bought mine long before I could use them for less then 20k ... good thing I did since their going for 60k a pop now(or more >.<)

What craft level do you need for this +1 version? (It says the same levels here as it does for winged earrings)

It will always say the same as the regular version, because it *is* possible to make it at that level, but 10-20 above that cap makes them more often.
actually, it's possible to HQ a craft from any level that you can make it in general. It's very rare, but you can get skillups on high-quality synths ^-^

How about these compared to the Pigeon Earrings for a lvl 62 Paladin?
You guys are also forgetting that AGI makes your Trick Attack ability more powerful. Same way DEX affects Sneak Attack. That is if you're looking at this item as a Theif.
the formula that i read for calculating SA damage had DEX and AGI equally wieghted as modifiers.
Trick Attack is a modifier for Sneak Attack so AGI helps Trick Attack basically.
I don't think trick attack is a modifier for sneak attack because there is an item or something that increases the damage dealt by trick attack when used by itself. I think it actually might be a job ability, but I'm not totally sure.
On Sylph, in Jeuno, I got two of these for 15k each.
you guys are lucky, drone earrings and dodge earrings are 30k to 40k a piece on midgarsormr.
i got lucky, someone musta accidentally put in the price wrong, and i got these for 1.5k. But only 1. :( still need the other

Actually agi boosts your eva, which in turn keeps them from hitting you more often. It's actually dex that drops the rate of them scoreing crits on you.

Agility also adds to your chance to block with your shield or parry with your weapon...just something else to factor into your decision making.

It does increase the amount of parrys and blocks also Guards from monk.

That depends what you want the AGI for. If you are looking for straight Evasion, the Dodge Earrings may be for you. However, AGI also decreases your odds of being Criticaled on (I am 90% sure, anyhow) where as Evasion just increases your chances of Evading. Also, AGI increases Ranged Accuracy, so if you use a bow, gun or throwing weapon, that's something to consider.

How much is the price rang at an AH for one of these?
in jeuno ah, i saw it goes to 10k...next day, it went to 12-14k..and several days later, 20k ><
i should have brought it when i got the chance ><

I got mine for an exceptionally reasonable price of 14k at the Jeuno AH on Unicorn. Now I just have to get 4 more levels to wear it... ^^
That is a good price.
