God, reading some of the posts on this page make my eyes bleed -.-;
1) This knife is neither rare nor ex, it's not dropped from an nm or an hnm or an enm nor a bcnm, it is a synthed item, with it's own +1 version called Hawker Knife +1
2) There are no rare/ex knives with these stats, there is however a rare/ex AXE with these kinda stats called the Franscica dropped off of Aquarius in Boyahda Tree
3) The knife USED to MAKE this knife is a normal and nowhere near rare drop from an nm in Davoi called Hawkeyed Dnatbat, in fact if it wasn't for knowing people who haven't gotten the knife from killing him, i'd say it's a 100% drop as i've always gotten it, and i don't even have treasure hunter
well hopefully that clears something up at least c.c

actually, if you look at it closely, you will see that they dont have the same stats. Even though they both have the ranged accuracy stat, the hawker has +agility and +charisma.
Damn, I'd say these arent worth the price unless u are a bst, archers work fine for rng, I know from experience. I was in the same party as 2 other rngs, and I was missing just as much as they were. One of them had a hawker and an archer, the other 2 archer, I had 2 hawkers and lots of other ranged acc+ gear they didnt have.
Prices on Caitsith server: Archer's Knife=25k Hawker's Knife=150k (varies from day to day)
I bought my Hawkers for 160k, and I had bad timing when I sold them back because they dropped down to 99k. But I wanted gil so bad I didn't care much.
Possible your acc is already capped. In my experience, all the things that have a chance to fail WILL have a minimum chance of failure regardless of the # of +trait you have. That minimum goes down as lvl gap between you and mob increases with you on the + side (farming) and increases as you are on the - side (XPing). So at some point you are wasting your time raising a trait. Unfortunately I'm not mathematically inclined enough to figure out that point or I'd spend my $ more intelligently on gear...

to those who argue that archers knives r lvl 30.... U R WRONG i have 2 and they r lvl 28 knives. maybe the hawkers r lvl 30 but not the archers and i believe they r a drop not crafted
that's why only mid 90 to 100 lvl alchemists make these, they all attempt to craft the 2.5 million gil +1 version o_O. i'm 99, and i hope i can craft one myself (not for profit, i wanna freakin' use it!), and i would, but it's the damn dragon blood that's hard to get my hands on. i could do it, but my ls rarely does faffy/nidhogg, and one annoying rdm named defenestrator keeps buying all the dragon blood off the AH (lvl 64. my guess is he has a wyrmal abj of some sort and he's buying all of the ingredients, selling em to another hi-lvl alchemist and hoping to get a -1 synth. why? i don't know, but it's off topic so i'll shut up now :P)
Ok, well, since I am not high enough to do this (and I would love to see dragon blood drop)... I am going to let you in on a little secret... Dragon blood drops off the Nightmare bats in Ifrit's culdron. I confirmed this with an ls member of mine who knows a lvl 75 thf that farms it. Drop is incredibly rare (the person gets like only one every time they go there... and I get the impression it is hours of farming).
Anyways, You may want to try stealing from the bats... who knows... again, I am only a lvl 43 thf, so I don't dare try to fight these things, one jetstream would kill me... or 3 hits for that matter (I know it's three cause I went in to steal off one once... and only once).
So, it may take you time, but who knows... you might have a better drop rate then the person on our server, and well, there are enough bats to keep you busy for hours.
Ima keep this one short and to the point........this knife is as over-rated as it is expensive. I use dual Arechers knifes on my RNG/NIN and they work jsut as good as one of these.
I tested this out on rng/nin. You sir are wrong and just simply trying to find a reason to justify the fact that you have no gil. Not only did I find I hit more often than with archers, my damage also increased.
Ok now i do see the point to these knifes since im now using them, lemme try to quikly justify what i said a long time ago......
1) When i posted the previous statement about them being "EXTREMELY pricey its because at that time they were sell for 375k 90% of the time, as soon as the price dropped below 190k on Titan i bought 2 ON THE SPOT!
2) This is where i am humbled at me saying "They are just as good as Archers", once I got them i did notice a approx, 10-12% better hit rate on my bow and a slight increse in close quarters dagger fights. As to u saying i am cheap for not spending about 750k on dual hawkers, i guess we have greatly differing ideas on whats being cheap.
this was my first post btw ...back when i didnt test out my opinions and based em purely on info.
Yeah i have RNG as my main. i have noct+1 gear, emperor hair., leapin boots, but i dunno if i wanna pay 400k for a knife that only adds +1 rnged accuracy and +1 agi. i dunno if i do get it i might just have one of my high lvl friends craft it if anything.
I want this knife but dual wield will run me about 450K on Unicorn. I saw a RNG with 2 Arc+1, Peacock and +1 Noct gear, must be nice to have that kinda money.
yes the stats stack and i think spending 200k for 1 RngAcc, 1 AGI and 2 CHR is a waste of money, i know im goin with the double archers knives and savin my money for other stuff
#REDACTED,
Posted:Sep 23 2004 at 3:29 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I'm getting 2 Hawker's Knives+1 when I get my next level. Why? Because I feel like i wanna be the best rng i can be. Having these also let me get to much higher lvls with the same weapon, so its a long term investment like the emp hairpin or leaping boots.
May be a silly question and if so I apologize, but... As a RNG/NIN, if you equip 2 of these, does it double the stats bonus? Meaning, would it give you Ranged Accuracy +22 by dual-wielding them? Just trying to be certain before buying 2 if I wouldnt get the stat stack for it.
You can buy them at Jeuno. I cant believe these are going for 300k on peoples servers!! You wont believe thsi but they are going for 10k on my server. Dont knwo how this is possible...but its the truth. Now the +1 version on the other hand, goes for 900k so hmm....
Reasons for this is based on a simple concept, supply and demand on other servers there are more rngs thenn small servers so you get high demand resulting in drop of price. ^_^ when less ppl go after an item like perhaps on less populated servers prices go up.
Um.. i think u got it backwards. When demand for an item is high, the price goes up. When there is a surplus of an item (higher supply, less demand) the price goes down.
Hawker's Knife goes for 170K(2mill for +1) on my server(Phoenix), man u guys are getting ripped on the other servers. Dragons blood cost 162K, Beastmen Blood for 2K, Fiend Blood(why would u not farm this?)200 and Archer's Knife, 20K. Yet, I can't afford it. ========= Baelwulf Phoenix 28 RNG, 30 WAR, 13 MNK
I have screamed until my veins collapsed I've waited as my time's elapsed Now, All I do is live with so much fate I've wished for this, I've bi*ched at that I've left behind this little fact: You cannot kill what you did not create
Well If the knife costs around ~290k to make and your Alchemy Is capped (100), Then why wouldn't you want to make this? Escpecially if there is a chance for a HQ synth which sells for atleast 7x the amount it cost to make. 1.5 million+ on Phoenix for +1.
