i got 2 ring's after killing 59 mob, and i got 3 degens out of 10 and 2 stacks odf oil's.
for all thf's there, these ring worth farming better than rare ring's (even if u have the money don't buy it and go farm it)

i was farming as PLD75/THF31 (TH1).

Was passing through Ordelle's last night doing my ZM5 headstone. Saw a Stroper Chyme up downstairs, killed no drop. Remembered there were two upstairs. 1st one, no drop.

That's pretty awful. They never changed the drop rate, apparently. I used to camp the Archer rings before it went rare/ex for 700k a pop, with TH2. Me and my camping buddy would get 1 in every 100~ Sometimes very close to one another but very rarely. Made a ton of gil doing that :] May I suggest, at level 40 you try your luck in Riverne Site A01 though, against the Carmine Dobsonfly NM's. Double the stats, although you can only hold 1, the drop rate is incredible. The ring itself is called "Jaeger Ring" and is level 35. And while you're at it you might get a shot at a Voyager Sallet. It can be taken with 3-4 SMN Lv40 all 2 hour Diamond Dust, a couple maybe 3 BLM on hand in case that doesn't do the trick to Elemental Seal + Sleepga. And a Paladin tank to get the initial aggro, as you cannot pull these flies seperately no matter how spread out they are. They all link no matter what you do. Make sure everyone takes reraise because if you fail the first shot at it, it's very tedious, and could take up to 2 hours~ with this setup with many deaths. Also be aware there's bombs in the area that aggro magic.

I am 0/20 on this yesterday, and i went 1/35+ weeks before they invented the r/ex version. Gah i hate this monster...
I went 2/40 or so on these as 50THF/NIN. Not a waste of time by any means, as these are great rings. Not to mention I made around 100k farming Flame Degens and other misc. items while I was waiting for Chymes to pop. All in all about 5 hours of farming for the rings, and I made a hefty sum of gil from the other spoils, not a wasted trip I'd say.
I think they upped the drop rate on this. Back when they first made stroper chyme's drop r/ex I went down to get myself some for my Warand I killed over 100 before the first one dropped. I left after getting my first because it suckedso bad. I've since dropped that ring and today decided I needed a pair for my dnc. I went 2/12 with TH3 on 50% moon!
Needless to say I was a little shocked given my prior experience. So yea, I think they may have upped the drop rate. If not, take a thief with you cuz this was **** easy for a change.

Just went out to Ordelle's caves today as 47THF. I got to the chyme's spawn spots, killed one, no drop. Even without capped marksmanship and sleeping it for shadows it wasn't too hard (evasion bonus wins!). Anyway, I'm about 0/5 on this, and that's with TH2. I quit because I didn't bring enough sleep bolts and I ran out. Gonna try again tomorrow though, maybe I'll have better luck.

did they change the drop rate or something? after reading everyones post on the subject i figured that since i had nothing to do i would run down there and shoot for one...joking to myself as im running down there thinking how funny it would be if i got on first kill...and wouldnt ya know it sure enough i am 1/1 LMAO

I just helped a friend with a TK (odardpm) and so me (SMN70/WHM35) went to try our luck for them (my way needed em.)
Well we get to ordelle's caves, got into the H-12 drop at the top, and killed the chyme there no drop.
We try this for an hour and no luck. Yet as soon after, we try something that works... Earth Crusher > Banish II > wait 10 > then SATA evisceration. Well we keep doing this and they drop quite easily, 3/100 so far.... and there u go!
Dont give up hope, these things are much better than paying 1 mil for archers ring, in the time it takes to farm an archers on my server, you could get them both! so GL to all guys and happy campin!

You can not sell these. Anything with EX are not sellable or tradeable and you can have MORE then one on your character. Rare items are sellable and tradeable and you can only have ONE on your character. RARE/EX items are not sellable or tradeable and can sometimes have more then one depending on the item. I'm sorry you were mixed up. It took me quite some time to get myself one. I hope this information is correct, I would appreciated it if someone could correct me.

one of the only lucky things thats hapened to me in this game...
my friend and I went into the cave looking for some shikaree rings, we found out that the drop rate is VERY low and it is almost impossible to get two drops. He was a 58 rng/thf and I am 62sam/thf, he ended up dying geting claim with low HP. I got one drop after a handfull of kills the next time i loged on in that zone, and on my way out i passed another chime in a tunnel and decided to kill it, since i went the wrong way and had to turn around, and it ended up droping ANOTHER shikaree ring! I fliped...two drops in 5-10mins, unheard-of with this NM.

Yeah I took out my 50THF/25NIN last night with a couple friends and got my first ring within 20 kills. Then, SOMEBODY in the party says hey that wasn't too bad we should get the second one within the next hour. 9 Straight hours later... Oh I WILL be going back.

Me and a few friends of mine, Usasuke and Lockdown went out one time, didn't even know that Stroper Chyme dropped that ring, drop rate 1/8 or so. Gave it to Usa. That was almost a year ago.
Today, went out with Sizzlechest to farm for Flame Degens. Killed Stroper Chyme about 5 times, 1/5. Grats Sizz on that lot. ^^

53SAM/RNG, I got this drop: 1/46. This was without THF of any sort.
My SAM/WAR Friend had a THF with him and told me he was 2/130-ish.
Fighting at my level, I did have a little bit of difficulty. I subbed /RNG so I will know where they have spawned. I would rather have RNG then /THF in this situation because running from the 1st spawn all the way to the 4th spawn and realizing someone else already killed it is a huge waste of time. I like to know WHERE it is and if it is already dead. Just preferance though. Sure, I might have recieved the drop sooner, but it would have taken me longer to know where the next jelly spawned and when.
Two jelly fights as 53SAM/RNG (my currently highest level as of this date) can lower me down to low health. After two fights I will have to rest or use some sort of HP Regen. I fought with Seigen (sp?) so I can use Third Eye to dodge the majority of the jelly's attacks.
You CAN (it is true) have two of these rings on at the same time. It is a great way to kill time while you wait for party invites. Be sure to say in your search comment that you have a warp out of there. Going in without a warp out can cause you to be late to your party if you farm while waiting for a PT.
When you come up to the areas where these monsters spawn, you will notice there is a wall/ledge you can't get up. Go back one room and you will notice on your map, a little path leading south. Take that and you will see holes in the ground. these holes lead you to the higher ground on the floor below. Don't take the first one on the left and right side of this room, take the ones at the dead ends.
There are four spawn points. Two on the floor where you to fall down holes to reach, and two on the stairway to the right of the right room (from the first floor). Using a Bow and Arrow is a slow claim if your trying to outclaim someone, Dia or provoke is fast. RDM can get good and fast claims with fast cast ^^.

It's helpful most of the time, but since I am a mage I have indeed found a ring more suitable for my Party roles that I play. It's wonderful for soloing, which is something to do quite often on my Summoner. I keep this ring on me at all times just in case. It's also great for Skill-Ups. I'll get another ring when I pick my Samurai back up ;)

Sucky Drop Rate. I went 1/100+. But now I'm going to try camping a 2nd for my lvl 30DRG. Hope it wasn't a ***** like the first drop...0/50++ atm. >_<;;

WOOT, I finally got my 2nd. ^^ It realls help in 30 cap stuff, like ballista. I use it for NIN, DRG, and even whm when I solo as /nin.>>;\

After 50 kills LEAVE the zone. Take a snack break or something and just pull yourself together for 10 minutes or so. After that walk back into the zone and resume the killing!
