.... one uses lizard eggs and one uses bird eggs, thats why there are 2 diferent ways to make the apple pies. in other recipies the lizard eggs also are a lower level than bird eggs for the same product
A lot of recipes have more than one way to make them.
In your case, make the one with lizard eggs since it is the easier recipe, then when you get to the 46-47 range, switch to the other recipe so you can keep getting skill ups all the way to 50

While this may be old news for some of you, I just wanted to say that I just did a couple of trials with apple pies to see if the recent nerf has been repaired. These results are from today. The first apple pie was in my inventory. The second was one that I purchased from the AH in Windy.
Summary
The apple pies have been unnerfed.^^ Stats are as follows:
30 min duration of: +25mp, -1 agility, +3 int
The Experiment
First Apple Pie - Inventory
Consumed at 3.15pm +25 MP, -1 agility, +3 intelligence Expired at 3.45pm
Second Apple Pie - Recent purchase at AH
Consumed at 3.50pm +25 MP, -1 agility, +3 intelligence Expired at 4.20pm
While I should probably done one more test to be certain, I got bored.^^ Anyway. I hope this helps somebody out there.

OK heres the deal, SE made a patch for the patch, because of some issues, including, apple pies not lasting as long as they are supposed to

i just ate one today and it still only lasted 5 mins there was no patch yet
this nerf of the apple pie BETTER be a mistake! i JUST bought 3 stacks the other day at the AH, and now they are worthless. if it's a mistake, let's get to fixin' it, huh boys?
Yes these are now 5 minutes... aka worthless in my opinion... This patch sucked. Bad Square-Enix. Bad.

Someone please tell me I'm wrong...I'm playing FF right now and I've eaten 2 pies in 2 battles.....did the patch make them last 5 min or something?? >.<

multiply that by 3 to get a stack and that equals 2205 gil per stack.
Last time I checked, they were selling for 2200 per stack at the Bastok AH on Cerebrus. Not worth making for profit IMO.
In fact, unless you are synthing for craft skill-up, you may as well buy the Apple Pies and save yourself the trouble.

maybe u didnt notice but it's usually impossible to make gil crafting unless u HQ....

I'm not familiar with Bastok, but if I had to guess .. I'd say the Auction House or player Bazaars, just as it is in Windurst.
I don't know if I've ever seen an NPC selling any sort of pies.

Did the limit recently change to 50? I swore it was 47/49, but now I read 48/50. Is my memory playing tricks or did the limit change recently?

The correct figure for Apple Pie is 25 MP. (Just tested it to double-check. And yes, I'm submitting the correction properly as well.)
Both Bird Eggs and Lizard Eggs work, but Bird Eggs are always two levels higher to synth than Lizard Eggs.

why must Bird eggs be harder than lizard eggs? ill have 4-5 stacks of bird eggs and only 1-2 Lizard eggs.AND i farm in N/SGustaberg for them.
Try farming in Dangruf Wadi for the Lizard Eggs.

I am able to bake these now and there isn't much profit invovlved. Bazzar'in these in Selbina works well, like mithkabobs you make more money than you would at AH. That Cinnamon is expencive even at the Guild with tons of fame.
The guild sucks. I got a good quantity of cinnamon at the guild for 287, only 17 higher than a vendor. The next (game) day the guild price suddenly shot up to over 400. I'm a vendor shoper now :p (Not to mention the guild is always closed when I need it.)

how does one make apple pies +1? I asked a Japanese player and he told me that it required some alchemy skill. Was he right and how much alchemy skill is need? Is the chance to make apple pies +1 go up as your cooking skill goes up?[Orange[/O]range]

No you don't need alchemy skill, its just luck really. Also doing it on firesday improves your chances a lot. I got 1 +1 per 12 synths on firesday with these and with eel kabobs.

Actually according to many Japanese websites and others Alchemy skill does help with chances of HQ synths, The relationship is small but an Alchemy skill equal to or greater than the skill required for the cooking synth adds a 5% bonus to the chance of making HQ synths Approximately.
There are many aspects of the game that Japanese players know far more about than most north american players, for example thew effect of 3 fold weapon skill chains (Never scene a north american player pull one off the 1/2 sec window is brutal) and the eefect of rank and fame on combat ability (yes there are variables that effects both chance to hit and damage based upon those factors)

It gives +25 mp and some stat bonuses ... It's very helpful for (obviously) spellcasters and if used regularly when leveling can really help shorten downtime.

Piecrust is really pie dough. Also Lizard egg is called for but you can use a bird egg. Kinda like boiled egg where lizard egg seems to syntisize better than bird egg. Higher lvls it shouldn't matter.
