Our LS had done it a few days ago. When we got to spawn area, there was a another LS kiting it. Most of their thfs were down. We lent them ours to try and steal it, naddah so one of ours warped back to get the knife in his Mog House, tele'd to a crag and used the sky warp. Came back and killed it. Another 15 minutes later, it was our turn. Everything was nice and smooth, only our nin died.
my ls has killed this NM many times to get the gem and fight Suzaku... but today was weird.
We had 2 main thfs and neither of them could steal the knife from him. Both thfs didnt have the Bucc. knife on them or in there safe, they just couldnt steal from it. So eventually after over an hour of trying to get the knife and finish the basterd off we wiped. ; ;

Very easy NM. Less meele the better because his AOE is annoying and giving it TP isnt the smartest idea.
how hard is it to steal the knife ?
is it a gaurantee or is it as hard as stealing a testimony ?

I dont think you can fail. Ive stole it as war/thf, our drks have stole it as drk/thf, and our thf has stolen it.

a full alliance of my ls tried it for 15mins too and we couldn't manage to stel it from him...
we tried another day with a nin that has the dagger so we know that steal wasn't a prob and a sm/thf steals it the 1st time he tryed so this isnt sure to be steal

My LS failed at least 20 times using everything from full THF to DRK/THF to WAR/THF to DRG/THF. I don't know what the deal was but we failed every single time.

just like with everything there IS a chance to fail.. ours failed once, lol. the sam/thf stole though ^^)b

You should try +INT gear when trying to steal. It makes a difference. Its what I did for AF. And if that doesnt work, or you dont want to try it, try timing your steals while the BB is casting a spell or about to attack. This is where almost all mobs are most vulnerable. Its easy if you're use to Shield or Weapon Bashing them or using a WS like Flat Blade to stun a mob.
Is there any proof behind any of this information? It all sounds like rumors and random stuff.
well I steal more often successfully when mobs are either casting or they can't see/hear me. but ic could just be coincidence, but I doubt it

Ok get a thief... one is fine. Go to Ve'Lugannon/ silent oil yer assses and go on in till ya find a ???. Okies now clear the area of any Weapons, (Good way to get TP) Then have PLD stand back in the hallway and have all the people stand on sides of the hall. the THF spawns it with "Cutrtana" Obtained from ???. Then THF pulls to within range of PLD, pld vokes and uses all those neat-o Hate getting job abilities. Then if you want to loose, have all your meele unload TP and die in a few seconds. OR wait 30 seconds and unload TP one at a time. SC only with THF ending a Light on the pld w/ SATA. also when BB drops to low HP he cant die unless u use the Bucaneers knife, which a THF needs to steal and equip from it. THF can pull a SATA and end him. Basicly just have a 3-5 man Stun line so his attacks are lessened. His AOE sucks but not too bad. AOE: Stun and Terror (Terror = Stun.....only ...differnt name.....)

Our LS tried him the other day, trying to get the Gem.
At 75% hp our thf managed to steal the knife from him, which we had no idea what it did. Our thf was lvl 69 and the knife was 71 so he couldnt equip it anyways. We were killing him with ease when all of a sudden, one pld goes down. Another grabs hate, we whittle his hp down to almost nothing, and all of a sudden he's all powered up or something. Blm hits him for Thundaga III 748 damage, nothing. Slug Shot 624 damage, nothing. One by one he mauls our alliance. Then by a stroke of luck i am the only one alive with utsusemi up and full hp. LS tells me, OMG KILL HIM HE HAS 1 HP LEFT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!! I wind up sharpshot and barrage. "Mileena's range attack misses the Brigandish Weapon." omg im dead. boom 1,2,3 my shadows are gone. finally i get a holy bolt in, 84 damage, 12 added effect. nothing. Mileena is defeated by the *******.
Found out later we had to kill him with the buc knife, which our thief couldnt even equip tee hee how fun
Oh and one other thing, it stinks trying to raise your party in this place, a detector goes around every few minutes and you have to one shot it or it will summon mobs. Also those mobs aggro magic so teehee. Better have a blm ready or a rdm with Aero III.

Oh, he drops the libation abjuration, too.
This guy is a real b*stard. He has a hate erase move, that gets melees/mages killed. Also he hits really hard even to a 74 :(

THe knife isn't all that important, what you want is the drop, the "Gem of the South", which is later used to force a fight with one of the four gods, Suzaku
Tru dat, but you need this knife to be able to obtain the Bartholomew's Knife, which is important.

oi, my laziness comes back again to bite me...
guess i should do it again with all the little details.
#1- you need a curtana. It's a 2 hour pop as a ??? in several small rooms in ve'lugganon palace. I've seen it in 4 different ones so far. If you look at the ve'lugannon maps, all of them except map1, the tiny rooms off the side of the main path are the ones it shows up in. btw, it also moves around after it pops.
#2-trade the curtana to a ??? in the big room in the middle south of ve'lugannon map1 to make brigandish blade pop. Can steal a buccaneers knife from him. Once he's at 1hp he becomes completely invincible to everything except the buccaneer's knife. btw, he's a real badass so have a good group. I suppose you could try doing steal and flee but that really kinda screws your chances of even getting the buccaneers knife since he will vanish if left alone and curtana can be a pain to find when it wants to be and who knows if theres some sort of flag when you kill him because killing him with it is part of the request. Anyways, the stuff he drops is really nice, be a shame to just waste it.
#3-trade the buccaneers knife to a ??? in the same room and get a message that says nothing happened and lose your hard earned knife
the only person i have ever seen with it said "by rare chance, trade buccaneer knife to ??? will cause Bartholomew ghost thank you and recieve bartholomew knife" ...take that as you will
edit: before you take the last part as fact... i have heard that it actually drops off of him and the you get it form the ??? but the only person ive seen with it said the ??? thing. i just said "drop" before since walking 3 seconds to the ??? and hoping youll get it is basically the same as if it just directly dropped if you think about it. All i know is it is definately connected to Brigandish Blade in some way and once i finally find mine i will post the factual last step.

what other monsters can u steal equips from? o.O can you do it from all weapons? ^^'
He doesn't drop the knife, you have to steal it from him
