Totally soloable at level 16 as BLU/WHM. Just had to burn through my Two-Hour and spammed Stun, Sprout Smack, and Foot Kick until he hit the dirt. Also went 1/1 on the drop, so I can't say how bad it might be for other folks hunting him down.

I took him down as 21whm/10blm. Fun fight and not too hard, but a bit on the long side because he recasts utsusemi so much. Mijin Gakure only did 26 damage which was a lot less than what I thought it'd hit for. 1/1 solea (obivously) and no bow. I just wanted the solea though, so, I'm happy!
EDIT: Forgot to say that he also gave me 50 exp.

But if you are, his spawn area on this map overlaps the higher area (where the "tougher", key-dropping Yags are) and the lower section populated with weaker Yags. Unless anyway can confirm otherwise, I've only ever seen him pop on the lower area so yeah... happy camping for the 5k drop (z0mg!)

Gonna check back shortly or I'm just going to buy the damn bow.
What made this trip worth while is the fact I ran right into Hoo Mjuu and he was unclaimed. Stunned, killed, no drop except a damn scroll of stinky-eraser. Some /anon WHM goes running by about a minute later and starts killing Yagudo.
The last thing that made camping this guy 'acceptable' (I usually avoid camping NMs as much as possible, I despise doing so) was the fact he spawned three times in about two and a quarter hours. Was totally unrivalled and I even had time to run around him to get a good screenshot before turning his name red.

I think I camped for about an hour and a half or less. I was about to log when he spawned and I nailed him. No bow, but I was trying to get the soleas, which is apparently a 100% drop. There is a ledge nearby that is hard to get to from where he spawns. I didn't worry too much about those, but I did Jump the ones who came too close to the edge. I don't think those guys have anything to do with the NM, so I wouldn't worry about it.

I am getting pissed.. ok the area this NM is suppose to be in, is divided by 2 parts... 1 is a bit higher... HOWTF do you get there? Does he even spawn there?

1/1 on light soleas tho i didnt fight to get this......and i just fought cuz he had a different name then everyone else :P 0/1 on the bow tho
This was the first NM I ever fought, I saw Bloodtear once but didn't understand he was a NM. I just happened to bump into this early in my career seeking the path to kill the 2-3 mission Dragon. I thought it was just another birdman I was killing untill a passerbye started congratulating me and asking if i got the bow (which I did). I asked him what was special about it and he told me about NMs in general and stated that bow was the first good Rng bow you can get.
Sorry felt like nostalgic when i ran across here.

i was farming yag necklaces in giddeus an this thing link aggoed as i was chaining the mobs an running alround, anyways killed him easyly an got the Light Soleas 1st time ^^ 1/1

Is this guy a lottery spawn or does he spawn at certain times. I've only found him once... and that was when I was camping the wrong spot! Also... Does anyone know if he has a single placeholder? and if so what is it?

I believe the Solea are 100% drop, everytime I kill him I get them.

It been a while seen I camped this NM, but I guess it payed off. Got the bow on my first one tonight.
killed this guy 1st time when i was helping my ls buddy to get chest key for kazham...light soleas.... today was farming necks with my RL friend to get Norg fame... saw him there.. ok why not, i engage.... Mijin Gakure... rises again...dies... light soleas....

Is this guy a lottery or a timed spawn? Also, what is his average drop rate for the bow?
After helping someone get a key for giddeus (43mnk, unarmed & unarmored), I'm running back to the area I like for necklace farming...and what do ya know this NM is right in the path I took. At the time, I had no idea what the good drop was but knew I could take it. He must have been up for awhile because he had utsusemi up and recasted it as soon as I knocked it down the first time. Once I got his shadows down, 1-shoted him with Raging Fists and got light soleas which I knew had to be the bad drop. Now that I see the good drop, it's kind of an "ah, so that's where those come from". I'm already past the bow with rng, and have no intention of playing rng on other characters, so 0/1 and I don't care to try again to sell the drop.

I've claimed this guy 5 times in just one day while harvesting/farming and what not. Well, I'm 5/5 on the Light Soleas and 0/5 on that darn bow ><
