but idk if the pos is right on NM it says G-9 but for some reason
when ever i go to I-7 people say I-7 is it, and im just wondering
what the real pos is, so i can actually fight him for once
im a 61thf,61rdm, and 56rng, ive never found him on wide scan, and i always explore on my thf, but ive never seen him, was just wonderin if someone could help me out

was skilling up staff in the jungle as drg71/sam33 with a friend (pld75/war37) he d/ces and a pt comes by so i move my skill up spot to the area where this ******* spawns. kill first wave of monkeys getting nice skill ups and then i see him.
he hits fast but not very hard at lvl 71 i was gettin hit from 20-50 every hit and considering i only had about 400hp from fighting other monkeys in the area and wyvern had been tanking most of em i was in bad condition got him down to about 10% within a min then he used some move (cant remember name) and it hit for last 200dmg of my life no raises nearby so i HP
come back as drg/rdm just incase and kill him as well as 8 other monkey links easy 25xp and no drop 0/1 kidney dagger is worth around 80k on Remora Good luck to all you future hunters^^

I have fought this monkey many many different ways most of the time i have solo'ed him and a few times i had my friend 50thf be there for TH2. I have fought as a 75whm/37nin - 75whm/30thf - 62pup/31nin and 63pup/30thf - and out of the 30 times i fought him, not 1 kidney dagger droped just those stupid pamamas or wild pamamas. But fightin him as my pup i got 40-50 exp from the kill. Needless to say - any one that gets the dagger drop i think is very lucky ^^ but i still have hope that one day it will drop for me too

i'm 0/27. hadn't camped him in months, was in the neighborhood tonight, popped him during the second round of monkey pops cause no one camps him. no drop obviously. 26 of the 27 kills have been with TH2. this thing is my bane. one day... ONE DAY i will get this drop. yeeaarrereghhh
Ok killed this guy today for the third time. Out of sheer boredom I decided to camp a NM. I'm a 69 taru mnk and this monkey puts up a very nice fight.
Because he goes totally ballistic ( very high att speed ) I would not recommend this unless you can deal a boatload of dmg in a short time or have a very high defense.
I only 2hr'ed him and think I would die if I wouldn't. He manages to rip about 900 to 1000 hp
from me in about 50 seconds. Seeing that I am a taru and a mnk that's no great achievement but I state this so you are able to get a idea of his attackspeed. I did about 6k dmg every time before he died and on neither of these occasions he was able to use his regen.

For those of you wondering what happened, I had to use up alll of my Hi-Ethers and 2hr, I did however manage to get him down to 50percent health, and I feel that If I had more potions I could have taken this Notiorious Monster.
This guy isnt hard. I killed him a few times as 67rdm/whm (or /blm). Just kill all those monkey down there, cuz they are placeholders. the first spawn is pretty quick. But i wouldnt recommend to go on killing, cuz this could go on for hrs til the next respawn(respawn time is around 3-4hrs i would say, maybe a bit less). I didnt get much dmg, but links are really really annoying. Sleepga was fun for that, just so they dun scratch around on your Stoneskin. Mischievious Micholas hits pretty fast and Magic Fruit can heal a lot of his life. Not to mention MM has a lot of hp ><
The Placeholders are just down in the area of G-9, not up the ramp/around it.

As rdm i would just buff up, Pro, Phalanx, Stoneskin and Ice Spikes. Micholas is not sleepable, fyi. And now, happy slapping lol

Just camped this guy, got claim, killed him, no drop. He popped in the open area near that little tunnel.
I tanked him as RDM66/BLM33. Was no problem. I had my brother help me as a 57THF. Only annoying thing in the fight was that "Magic Fruit" move, cured himself for over 1k. Other than that, he was hitting me for around 40dmg when stoneskin was down.

guys its hyper nms f you ever fought roc he goes into "hyper mode"...
This is listed at level 55.
However, I solo'ed it at level 68 with my npc and gained 17 exp. I'd guess it's closer to level 62-63 based on that.
If not for some timely cure IV's by my npc buddy, I'd have died. I wasn't quite at full health or mp when starting, nor did I have my npc out either, but it certainly wasn't the cakewalk I was expecting by looking at the level 55 listed here.
No drop by the way.

I went 1 / 923874928738 on this stupid dagger, finally got it this morning. Solo'd it mostly as SMN, Fenrir tanked it well enough >.>b Noticed repop times anywhere from 1h20 past death to 3h+ -.-

Killed this many months ago with LS mates, drk, smn and rng (me), all aroung lvl 45-ish. Not too much off a problem. Don't try to sleep this guy. Got the Dagger after the 2nd kill. Sold for 300k and split 3 ways.
About two nights ago, samn smn and I (57thf this time) try again so I can keep the dagger. We forgot to not try to sleep him... I died 5 times till we got the right combo. Got the drop from the 2nd kill again, but this time, its mine!
Ska started as a 60 smn, died twice, tried as 69 blm, died twice. Came back as 64 whm and he kept me alive while I tanked with Crow gear on.

Just fought him while I was trying to farm the Overgrown Roses. But anyway... it is very difficult to solo him as a BST54/WHM27 (now lv 53 btw) killed me twice (yay for rerasie). Then got a 75 RDM to kill it for me, got the drop ^^
... and he won the lot.
Not easily soloable at lv54 BST, but possible; especially if you had /nin. Well, I'm gonna try again when I get back on ^^ should be interesting.

took him easily as a 62 thf, capped eva, marksmanship, status bolts, and utsusemi, he hit me about 2x lol (for 100+ a piece ><;)
We fought it today with a DRK65, DRG59, WHM38 and nearly got owned. His AoE hit me (WHM38) for over 400 with Stoneskin and Blink up. Got 8 exp though ^ - ^

i just spent 5hrs getting this guy to pop and got every drop except the knife. so annoying.
I was camping it today with my friends on Asura. On my experience, it doesnt give a title... v.v However, to pop it out you do need to kill the Young Opo Opos arround, which are the place holders. He pops on the north Corner of the Grid, lower portion (down the chasm). Remember to kill the adds or it will own you! >.> it links.

HNM means Honorific Notorious Monster. It means that you get a title from killing it. It has nothing to do with how powerful the NM is.
I think people equate it to the power of the monster because most HNMs are very powerful such as Roc, Serket, Kirin, Vivian and so on.

HNMs are NMs that are involved in quests, missions, or require high lvls and parties to kill(which is why warchief is a HNM, cause he's there for Mission 2-3 sandoria portion), they are important NMs that usually dont have valuable drops, although some do and its "High-level Nitorious Monster"

He is right- the actual "H" in HNM means you get a title from killing it. The other definitions have just been suggested more and more, so the real definition of HNM is muddled under everything else. Lots of NMs have high respawn timers, not just the ones that take alliances to kill. ALL NMs are "higher than specified level. And the "Horrific", "Hyper", and "Hard" parts were created by people who didnt know what the "H" meant and just adopted their own version when a Japanese player told them "i am hunting HNM" and they couldnt figure out what it was, which works in a way because most HNMs take some skill to kill.
Yes Stray Mary, Skewer Sam, and Deadly Dodo (not sure) are HNMs because you get a title from killing it....Warchief Vatgit can be disregarded in a way because he doesnt drop anything of value, and hes actually for the rank 3 mission.

Popped this yahoo in all of 45 minutes. Spawns in the lower area near near the Overgrown Rose.
Easy fight but watch for links, there are a lot of Opo-opos that spawn down there and this guy has a lot of HP.

I decided that I was going to kill a few different nms the other day, and this was on that list. So I went and camped it for a while... 3 hours or so one day, then today I logged on thinking I will just check if it was there... killed the placeholders and on the next round it spawned ^^. So I cast poison on it and started killing it, at the start of the fight I had 640 hp, and by the end I was at 543 (though my wyvern healed me a lot during the fight :P). It wasn't really a hard battle, not like the Megalobugard (Megalobugard is about the same level it gave me 12 exp last time I killed it, and this nm gave me 14 exp). I killed it and got 2 bunches of Pamamas, a Kazham Pineapple, a Lightning Crystal, and... a Kidney Dagger. Oh I should note I killed this as a level 65 DRG/RDM

I solo'd this guy yesterday as 73PLD/WAR with 1500 hp/169 mp. I ended up using all my MP to cure myself and, just to be safe, used 2h and popped a Selbina Milk that I had leftover from crafting. It used 2 Magic Fruits and I think I used 3 Savage Blades before it died. I survived with ~350hp, so I probably could have lived with cures alone. Dropped a pineapple and 2 pamamas.
Seeing as my friend is going to be gone 2 weeks, I'm rather bored and can't level past her, as she's the White Mage for our static. :(
So I've decided to start doing solo NM hunts ^^ Not Valkurm Emperor or Lizzy crap, I mean NM's that nobody really goes after, something just for fun more than anything. And to prove I can. :P
First off was my Goblinsavior Heronox attempt, went smoothly but no drop. ; ;
Second, I bit off a bit more than I could chew and attempted to solo Dark Spark for my friend's AF Glove quest. I died due to Self Destruct and its constant Bio III spamming >< But she got her gloves, so I'm happy :D
Then I was browsing the forums here and saw this guy. I thought "Hmm, I may as well give it a shot. I hate monkeys." lol ^^;;
Kill a whole lot of monkeys for measly pamama drops for about 2 hours, I'm getting a bit tired.. -.-
Then I see a 66 SAM/THF (Underlevelled sub too!) come into the area and think "... Is he camping this thing too?".
About 4 minutes after he gets there, Micholas spawns and he grabs it :| I start to leave and kill an Overgrown Rose before I go, then notice.. the SAM gets completely owned by this monkey. o.O;
He dies and I wait for Micholas to get back to full HP before claiming him, cause I really didn't want to leech off his misfortune.. >.>;
Anyway, I drag this little sucker over to a corner where I hope no other Opos will link. Sadly, about 3 do but Spirit Taker once again wins, I never really go anywhere less than half MP or HP the whole fight despite links.
After a while, I managed to kill him (with HOLY!! OMGZ) and got the dagger :D Not sure what I'll do with it.. I guess I'll keep it for now, maybe skill up~
