Pretty much similar to everyone else. I was leveling my 16 SAM and saw it, didnt bother to look it up and examined the Fallenegg. NM spawned and whiped me in seconds. So I homepointed, switched to DRG75/WHM37 tele-holla and found 1 FallenEgg, got a birg egg, found a second and popped NM again. Jump, High Jump, Smack, dead. I'm guessing it has a lot of health if it wasnt dead from two jumps, but I was naked except for my weapon. Got the pendant. It was more revenge than anything.

So, out of boredom, I'm levelling one of my mules out in La Theine, and come across "BirdEgg" on the ground (at the southern spawn point). Never heard of it before, don't remember seeing Nihni in ANY of the NM lists so it didn't really mean much to me. I clicked on it, got an egg, and all of a sudden, the text comes up and pop goes the NM... Being 20WAR/10MNK, I expected to die, triggered Mighty Strikes, and by the time it wore, the NM was down to about 50%... I wasn't far from 50% myself, tho it wasn't attacking much faster than a normal Akbaba in the area, just hittin for 10+ per hit. I countered a few, WSed a few times, and poof, I had myself a Van Pendant, which beats the hell outta the stupid Justice Badge I'd stuck on the character for the DEF boost... got 52 exp as well with my Chariot Band active (yes, this is a mule, and I went cheap with him, so those givin me crap over the gimp ring or neck piece can sod off).
No clue as to 100% drop rate, I've seen plenty of other R/E drops NOT be 100%, lame as that is. Made me a happy camper tho, for once. If I'd'a been actively seeking the NM n drop, I'd'a prolly never seen it, or died, or not gotten the drop... :p

Nihniknoovi is a hawklike creature (In Kawaiisu legend) that would fly down and carry people back to its mountain home and would eat them.

I just soloed it as lvl 18 PLD. The trick is to use invincible when you get really low. Then you cure yourself to full. As long as you can last that you'll be good.

how do you get this NM to pop? I've read alot of posts but I dont see how you need eggs... Can someone help?

After checking all the post, I was finally able to get. It took me about 40 minutes (went afk for awhile). I was a lvl 30 RDM/10RGN (although you dont need widescan to find this doh!!!) so it was a really easy fight, cant wait to use this for my lower lvl char.

I'm Currently at L-11 in La Thine PLatue, and the Fallen Egg spawned twice here, First time i got a Bird Egg, Second time i got the Bird egg and the NM, Dropped Item. so i am assuming its 100%(also cause its R/ex) I fought a Bat around the area afterwards, and it never became Paralyzed. which leads me to believe it was just our Friends WS blade: Retsu that did that. Welll good Luck and happy hunting all who are out to get this, Im gonna go test it on my Ninja
After reading these threads i decided to try it out. Found 3 eggs and the NM shows up in the north spot. I helped someone do it too and the NM still shows up in the north spot.
All done in 30 mins. 100% drop. Easy.

I found 6 eggs, 3 of which were Bird Eggs, 3 of which were just cracked eggs.
It was on the 3rd bird egg i found the NM, it came down after i picked the egg up.
Funnily enough, it was where i'd found 2 other eggs, 1 bird egg, and 1 cracked egg, also the first place i found it.
Spawned for me in the northern-most point of the 3.
Van Pendant dropped, so i'm happy =)

I pwned this @ 26 ran into it on Accident while skilling up Marksmanship got the drop 1/1, btw i dont think this Item is worth camping for 12 hours lol

Having came in contack with a beastmaster in the lowest point where the egg can spawn, I ask him to tell me if it appears down there ever. Well after talking to him for about 4 hours he lvls and i give up and am about to the outpost in jugnar forest. He took a last look around for me and told me there was a FallenEgg there and asked me if i wanted it. I replied no since i stayed up all night looking for this dang thing, and told him to hit it. Sure as sh*t it spawns. The Beastmasters pet was quickly subdued, and then it began working on him. I zone back into La thiene Plateu to c he had about 50hp and lowering quickly. I make haste down there about past the white stick out on the creg of holla, he dies and tells me it began to go back to were it poped at (idr pos). I rush there to find nothing, run around and around... nothing. I gop over revive the poor beastmaster whom now dlvled because of me, so i decide to relvl him and b on my way.

ok so heres how it goes if it doesn't spawn on the first "Fallen egg" you find, a new one will spawn in 5 min ~I recomend you grab a chocobo and hang at one of the egg spots till 5 min are up~ THEN once it spawns you have 5 min to find the new "Fallen egg" (idk if it can spawn at the same spot as the previous one you found, but it didn't happen to me)after you find the new egg you then have another 5 min till a new spawns, REPEAT these steps untill it spawns at one of the 3 egg spots, I believe the Van pendant drop is a rare/ex 100% drop I also say a stop watch is quite nice for this NM hunt.

It is possible for the egg to respawn in the same area. It spawned in the southern area for me 3 times in a row.

i was going after this little birdie today, found 10 fallen eggs whitout spawn before i gave up ; ;
it's a shame that he did'nt spawn cuz i wanted the necklace for my pld :(

Since this drop was not the first on my wish-list I did not read these posts very carefully. Thought it could be a fun thing to do later. As usual when I was looking for parties I soloed some Funguars and Thickshells not far from the zone to the Dunes, this time as WHM 18. (Good for skills at that point). Found a "Fallen Egg" and thought that the NM only spawn after you have gotten at least 3 of those eggs. Cool, I thought, I do one now. Whoops. The mad bird poped and killed me.
Went back as MNK 28. The bird and the egg was gone, but I found a new egg up among the threes close to the Jugner zone and got the bird again. The pendant may be usable if I need to tank and for weeker jobs when I am raising skills. (Well even for skilling up guarding for MNK I guess it's very good; you don't want to many critical hits hit you if all other equipments are lowering youre stats. It's great to take punishment when doing that but in even doses, thanks.)

Alright, here's what happened, i'm walking from Jugner forest to wherever and at L-7 of LaTheine, i see "Fallen Egg" so i go to it, pick it up..and keep on going
then some bird attacks me out of nowhere with some weird name.. anywho.. it's weak, but has a lot of health.. dropped the Van Pendant. Sweet.
I swear i'm lucky in this game..i get everything by fluke.

yeah, just went after this tonight as 32WHM/16BLM while hoppin back and forth checkin Jugner and Valkurm for weather patterns for SMN. Friend came as 47RDM. It did maybe 15 damage to me before I blinded it. Melee didn't do much damage (go figure when you're usin an Eremite's Wand). Not much I can say about the spawn except what has already been suggested: grab a chocobo in between spawns and run around until you find it again. good luck to any beginners goin for it
I'm confused as to how this thing is judged on spawn. I've checked 5 eggs in a row with no result except "An egg has fallen here. There must be a nest up in the boughs of the tree."

Took me a bit to find the fallen egg, but Nihni spawned on the first one I found. Obviously, this necklace is for dunes-use-only, but it's certainly a nice one for that!

I've spawned & killed this bad boy 4 times: the Van pendant dropped every time (I turned in the pendant between kills to the R.K. in Ronafaure).
To spawn him, touch a Fallen Egg. A new egg spawns exactly 5 minutes afterwards. You have 5 minutes after the spawn to find and touch the next egg: if you find it more than 10 and less than 15 minutes after touching the last one you will recieve a Bird Egg.
I took him down easily with both THF 18 and WAR 19. I don't recommend taking him with mages below 20 - 23, he hits often and hard enough to keep you from casting efectively.

I checked a Fallen Egg, got a bird egg, used Ancient Circle (recast 10 minutes).
Found another egg 7 minutes later, and didn't get an egg or NM. Infact, as I'm typing this, I still have 20 seconds left on my recast.

What do you get for trading it to the R.K.? (o.O)
Nothing. It adds to your nation's Conquest points tho, so if you're San Dorian, it's a waste of time, considering it takes a helluva lot for Bastok or Windurst to gain control of the Ronfaure. Also, I presume the original poster to mean that he traded it to the other NPC, not the RK at the outpost, since thats who takes items...
BTW, trading items to other outposts is a great way to assist your nation's conquest... (something I get a bit of a kick out of. When I quit, I'm considering taking everything I have down to Sarutabaruta and seeing if I can't win the region for San d'Oria for a period)

I was soloing with my 17 thf by the pond near the Dunes zone and didn't even know about this NM. Last night I logged by the little pond and when I logged on this morning, I was killing fungar and worms and gobs and suddenly I see a "Fallenegg". I run over it to and touch it and obtain a bird egg....and then it says "The owner of the nest appears in a fury!" or watever. Point is, I had about half health and this ***** smoked me. I got him down to about half life and then he critical hit me about twice in a row. He hits fast too. Wish I woulda known about this guy before touching that ******' egg.

i just did this, i saw the egg like 5 times last time got it to spawn.Did about 500dmg with a ws (44sam,Gl to every one.
Just killed him within 4 hits... war 34, anyways got drop first time... i dunno if that happens all the time with /ex items but meh, i guess ill keep the neck lol... real bad necklace though
