Vana'diel Bestiary: Goobbue Gardener

In Rolanberry and Pashow, you get lower level goobbues and yes, they drop dahlias and treant bulbs (as well as cuttings and moss). The two places for just cuttings and moss are in the Sanctuary (goobbue gardners) and up near the waterfall in the Tree (elder goobbues).

For solo farming, the best is in Sanctuary. There are two camping spots for them:

1) north of the regular entrance to the Tree (4 to 5 spawn on about a 6 minute cycle). Best spot to camp is standing on the log just south of the pond, using tab/rotate/tab etc. Dont use widescan, takes too much time.

2) in the two areas to the west of the regular entrance, leading to the "back door" to the Tree (go thru the bush at the western side). You come into a larger area (3 pop here), then around a large tree into a smaller area (2 pop here) that leads to the back door. These are on a cycle: once the front room is empty of its 3, then the 2 in the back room pop. When the back room is cleared, after roughly a minute, the ones in the front room start to pop again.

Note 1: This place is heavily camped by the gilsellers. If you are going to farm here, your best bet is to have either charm or voke (steal is fast, but too much time to get close enough) If you don't have either one (e.g., a thf/nin), then make sure you use darts to pull, and you will still get beaten a lot, but you will have some chance.

Note 2: Even though a 60+ job can easily solo the gardners, I always found that I had far more luck (and a more enjoyable time) if I partied with one other farmer. Got good enough at it so that most of the gilsellers would try to invite me to duo when I showed up!!! And I am sure a lot of the non-regulars thought I was a gilseller myself. But I was running 70 flower pots, and that takes a ton of cuttings....

Note 3: Drop rate is not too fantastic even with TH2 (plus 4 leaf mandy bud and lucky egg -- wth, you might as well try!). Would take me about an hour to get a stack of cuttings and 2 stacks of moss (average ratio) if there were only 2 or 3 other farmers there. Have seen as many as 10 farmers trying to work it.

Note 4: If there are a lot of farmers, grab some lightning crystals off the elementals, kill robber gobs (etc.) up near the outpost, and desynth the mail/helms/etc.

Note 5: Stopped playing in September 2005, so updates may change stuff. If not, info should be good... I estimate I have taken 60-70 stacks of cuttings out of the Sanctuary, probably a lot more.

There are a lot of them near the zone to Boyahda Tree - Around J/K-12. I actually trained about six of them once going from one zone into Boyahda to the other zone. It was a funny site. Also, watch for the Rock Golem.

I'm sure there are more, but this is the area where I am most familiar. I have not seen any near the site for the SAM quest.

Yeah I've farmed plenty of these and never saw a single treant bulb or dahlia, maybe it changed it with a patch or something? In any case I know people who have farmed out a few mil here and never seen one so I think the info might be wrong. The ones in the Marshlands drop all of it, but doesn't seem to be true in Zitah
