I solo this thing as BLU65/NIN32. Buff up with Refueling, Metallic Body, and Utsusemi: Ichi. I keep Heabutt consistent. He seems to stay stunned for about 3 seconds and since he's slow, gives you time to put shadows up, keeping stoneskin up helps too. Around 35% hp I zerg the **** outta it and boom, it's dead.
Good thing to watch out for while farming moss or cuttings. ^^
Also watch out for Blank Gaze, will paralyze you, and thats no fun. :/

After reading some of the posts I thought he would be harder.
Didn't even want to fight him I was just farming when he popped and aggroed. I would say this guy is soloable lv60 on most jobs. lv66 SAM took him down. He hits hard, but crap accuracy.
No drop... :/ go figure.

Soloed this as a 60 Thf /nin I was a sad thing really, because I had another goob link with it and by my luck I was using it to get HP from my blood bolts. The NM does NOT have good Acc. He hits hard but I got hit 3 or 4 times the whole time for about 100ish and the only reason I got hit was because of the link. Was pretty easy fight and I got my GK ^^.
Solo as 71BLM/RDM
Step 1:
Use Gravity and Bind to keep Burn/Choke/Shock and Bio II up. Poison wears quickly. Nuke with StoneIV, ThunderIII, and BlizzardIII. Use Drain for quick HP back at small MP cost. Eventually I manafonted and spammed nukes while being hit.
Step 2:
Cry - you didn't get drop.
Step 3: (Optional)
Ignore Step 2 because you got drop.

ok so i just killed KoH n no drop, solo as 66pld/30thf was rather fun fight used sentinel n rampart normals buff for my lvl p3 n s3 didnt have to 2 hr ran out of mp tho n ended fight with 700ish hp all in all a fun fight, i gonna have to agree tho with the moon phase theory, im sure it has something to do with the drop rate btw this was my first kill on KoH yay me

So I was sitting around at idk maybe 2:30 in the morning bored cant go to sleep so i decide to go to keeper of halidom i've been looking at him for awhile wanting that GKatana (to sell i've been poor as of late it sells for 650k on laksmhi) so I get a tele mea go there and when I get to spawn point look who's there Keeper of Halidom I dismount quickly call wyvern I must admit I did not take this thing seriously it said I could solo it at lvl 65 so I thought easy then he starts hitting me for 70-90 with 125-140 criticals freaked I berserked and did a penta first one did 668 >.> that was all 5 hits btw that drops it to 76% from there I smack it again it hits me a few more I get to about....250 hp and two hour get full health and about 56 tp i do both jumps again do a penta that drops it to 36% hit hit hit another penta and one more and what DROP! plus some moss and some tree cuttings to sell all and all good night 650k for me

My tid bit of info - sub ninja if your under 70
I'm a 67 monk now, and my first attempt was at 65...in which I took the damage route...and in all my wonderful DD gear I was cut down with a 400~ uppercut. I swapped any -evasion gear out, subbed ninja and getting 41-46 exp a kill.
0/10 had THII with me one of those times.

TH75 NIN75 WAR75, 0/68 on this dude , always drop 1 cutting 2 mosses, i'm seriously doubt, this dude really drop GK , or its just Ancient Goobbue??

I fought this guy a lot last night as a 65 pld/thf on a full moon, and the drop rate is still really low for GK. Unless you are farming cuttings, it usually is a waste time. Plus, do you really need 1 water crystal from a NM? At least give two or something! I must have been really lucky the first time because that's when I got the drop. Overall 1/5 on this guy for the Daihannya.

fought this NM yesterday with a friend 60war/30nin i am 60sam/30thf. we were farmin cuttings untill we saw this NM didnt expect it to pop so soon so my friend put up shadows and voked.. it double attacked him and hit again shadows down already.. as we were drillin our WS's on this NM we did distoration (Tachi: Enpi + Rampage) war was about 325 HP becuz he couldnt get shadows back up after Skillchain he took hate right off me and it killed him. it used uppercut for like 200 somethin after he dropt i hit 2hour and solo skillchained it (Tachi: Kagero + Tachi: Koki) made fusion. didnt help at all the NM was still about 45% health after skillchains 35% health so i said **** it and Flee'd out.. not knowin where i was goin i came to a dead end.... i said **** im dead lol but i looked in my invy and "Wudoyou know" and instant warp scroll used that as soon as possible lol warped and ended back in jeuno where the war HP and we went back to farmin..lol fun fight though. The next day came back with a 75mnk/37war and raiped it lol 0/1 ; ; i wanted that Great Katana oh well ill come back for this NM some other time

I seriously doubt this mob drops this GK...

The drop rate is so low that having Treasure Hunter 1+2 doesn't even really seem to help that much. With a small percentage drop rate TH only increases it so much. So while I may get nearly 100 beehive chips in an hour, I won't get 100 daihannyas because the chips are much more common. Same reason you shouldn't use sushi or highly potent attack food too low level. If your base accuracy is 10 and sushi increases that by 15% your bonus is squat. A Jack o'lantern would double it. However if your accuracy is 50, 15% makes a difference.
Bottom line is this one is all luck. Or in many cases, lack thereof.

Easy solo as War75/Nin37 but the drop rate's getting unbearable...0/190 had my thf friend come with half the time for TH2 but nothing, even went as War75/Thf32 once in awhile, almost died twice and still nothing...

64/32 DRG/WHM. Not a hard fight, just keep an echo drop on you if you are actualy hunting it. I mostly kill it for the 100% tree cutting drop

soloed keeper as 58thf/29nin with bloody bolts and no SH and using my level 40 npc, tough fight, especially since npc was out of MP, but I killed it and the link. so far I'm like 0/gagillion ;). EXTREMELY RARE DROP. never heard of ANYONE ever getting it

I've killed him twice, once at lvl 60, once at lvl 65. the 60 fight was rough, almost died, but won in the end with a 75 SAM cheering me on. at 65 he's not that hard, his Acc. sucks. NIN/THF btw. Didn't get katana either time, I hear you need TH3 to get the drop, just 1 tree cutting and 2 moss, don't remember the xp it gave. hope this helps, and good luck on him.

i've been killing this the past couple days as 61/62 thf with no problems whatsoever. :) 0/6
I hit this guy on and off when I'm bored. 69 SMN and he was leaving me with (on average) 1 water crystal, 2 moss, and a tree cutting. He gives 34 xp to me. Roughly takes Fenrir 3 Eclipse Bites + melee to bring him down.
I'm guessing him to have 3500-4000hp. I've never seen the katana so far out of 6 claims.

I just solo'd this guy as 61THF/30NIN. He missed A LOT and I was able to keep shadows up. I went into the fight with 11 bloody bolts and ran out 1/2 way through. At the end of the fight I got lazy on my shadows, finished him off with a Dancing Edge, my hp was 182/808 after a crit hit of 209 and 2 regular hits for 85-95 each on me. All I got was 2 moss and a cutting. Still nice to know I could take it though. ^^ Oh.. and don't want to forget the 57xp. I think I Dancing Edge'd him 8 times for around 300-350 each time.

I've had TH1, at least, present every time with kill.
BTW, straight tanking this guy without healing items is dumb. I was almost killed at 70 as war/thf solo(Grabbed a DRG farming in the area, she cured me, and we went at it). I did it at 71 with my NPC level 50, but it was close.
