Summary

An unavoidable decision... If you would seek even greater power, meet with the Immortals stationed at Azouph Isle, Dvucca Isle, Mamool Ja, Halvung and Ilrusi staging points.

Walkthrough

Talk to Waoud at J-10 in Aht Urhgan Whitegate, and choose the option "gaze away" to receive a cutscene. Wait three in-game days, then speak to Waoud again, choosing the same option.

Note: To prevent from having to restart the quest, you must zone before speaking to Waoud for the second time.

Next, go to each of the five staging points and talk to the Immortals there for a quick cutscene and a key item. The staging points are Azouph Isle Staging Point, Dvucca Isle Staging Point, Mamool Ja Staging Point, Halvung Staging Point and Ilrusi Atoll Staging Point.

Once you've obtained all the key items, go talk to Waoud for the final cutscene and your Immortal's Scimitar.

no wait between cutscenes

Apparently, they've changed this so that you no longer have to wait between the first two cutscenes. My amoureux just hit BLU 40 and went to do this. He got the first cs around midnight EST, zoned, and got the second cs directly after. It was definitely the second cs and not just a repeat of the first. Woots for BLU! And he had already unlocked all the staging points, which made it hugely easier for him to complete.
The real prequisite

You have to wait till JP midnight after the first CS. No other quests have to done to get the second CS!

To confirm...

you 100% HAVE to have completed the sentinals quest to deliver the supplies to an immortal before you will be able to get the 2nd cutscene for this quest.

I tried 2x without completing it and got the same 1000g waste of time each time. As soon as I delivered the supplies and became a member of the sentinals (also gives you the Mog Locker) I was able to get the 2nd CS for this quest.

This is absolutely correct. I had talked to him the first time, got the first cs. 3 hours later, I tried talking to him, but only got the 10 questions and a waste of 1000 gil. I kept trying to talk to him 2 more times, and the last time I talked to him was after Japanese Midnight. I then went and did the second mission for Salaheems Sentinels (delivering the supplies package), went back to talk to him to see if I could (1 hour later, the next Vana'diel day) and I got the 2nd cs and the flag for the quest. Now I have to get talk to the 5 immortals at each of the staging points.

Waiting time?
# Nov 08 2007 at 1:21 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, JPT 00:34 I have finished my Mission 2 and visited Waoud at 23:43 Game time. After 3 game days, I visted Waoud again and I chosed "Gaze Away" then he start to ask me the same 10 questions for BLU flag quest. I Alt-Tab at that point and saved that 1k gil that he is going to rob from me.

Now it's 18:16 JPT ( not sure how many game days / game weeks have passed )and I visited Waoud again with my 2nd BLU and got same result. Therefore I bet you have to wait for 1 earth day to proceed to the 2nd phase of this quest which is the 2nd CS from him. 6hr 30min more, I sit and wait and let my *** grow.

Figures, Well Above isn't fully clear.

You have to Talk to Waoud. Then you get a CS with a Imortal.

I'm not sure about this exactly, but You either have to wait i'm guessing just till day change, or 24hr (game) from the CS, if thats not it then JP Midnight prob. (I logged off then realised I didn't have the quest and had to come back later so i'm not sure which it is)

But anyways, Then talk to Waoud again, and you will get another CS, Say "I Have" and then you get the AF quest.

As a side note, I don't know if ML quest is required, But I was up to Royal Pupeteer
can't get quest yet...

I turned lvl 40 as blu. Did the immortal sentry mission. And got the first CS from the NPC and was asked a set of questions. 2 times I tried this and I was told to wait till the next sunrise. I haven't gotten the quest yet. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Try getting the AF weapon and taking your own screenshot and quit knocking Mighty's. At least he's got it to take a picture lmao.
Can't get the CSes from the 5 immortals?
# Aug 16 2006 at 11:01 AM Rating: Decent
I had to talk to Waoud twice and see the divination CS twice. I'm not sure if I just messed something up the first time, but in the second CS, I chose "I have" when asked if I accept that I can no longer be mortal. After that, I was sent to the five staging points.

Must be BLU

There are many AF quests that don't require your job to be the job the AF is for when you complete them. For example, I opened my RDM AF1 quest as RDM, then switched back to BLM and completed the quest. This quest, however, requires you to be BLU when you talk to each of the Immortals at the five staging points.

This probably seems obvious to most people, but I've gotten used to opening AF1 quests with my level 40 jobs and then switching to BLM to complete them. This doesn't create a massive hassle but hopefully this info will save a few people 200 Imperial Standing points.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned, but you need to be on (unconfirmed) or have completed (confirmed) ToAU Mission 2: The Immortals.

Talk to the mithra, Naja Saleem (Saleem's Sentinals) at I-10 in Aht Urgan Whitegate. Walking into the building will give you a CS, you'll need to deliver a supply box to one of the staging posts.

After that talk to Waoud to start the CS for BLU AF1.
Easy in retrospect but what a pain

I can foresee many a Lv40 having a HELL of a time with this quest.

The idea is simple, merely talk to all the Immortals at all 5 staging points. But anyone who's gone to Ilrusi Atoll knows what a pain in the **** that was.

To start this quest, find Waoud again as BLU. Ask him to divine your fortune again. Don't worry you won't lose any money this time, assuming your main job is at least 40BLU at the time. You will get a cutscene instructing you to speak with the 5 Immortals at the 5 staging points. Simple? Sorta.

I'll assume you don't have any of the staging points. As such, use this link to find your way to them.

http://d3adma.tripod.com/

Sneak and Invis are an absolute must for these. Either go as WHM or RDM (or just sub them for the spells) or invest in lots and lots of oils and powders. Once you find your way to the points, attune yourself to the portals (just check them and you'll warp back to Whitegate). You might want to bring a friend or two when travelling to Ilrusi Atoll, there are lots of Imps in that cave before the door, and they have True Sight and difficult to dodge. Not impossible, but not easy.

Note, however, that even if you have this quest started, you *MUST* be BLU main for the Immortals to start their cutscenes. If you didn't go to each point as BLU main, you can travel to any Staging Point you've attuned yourself to by paying the Taru in the Hall of Passage some IS (200 points) assuming Al Zahbi hasn't lost the Astral Candy. You could also start an Assault mission for free passage, but you must be a job that's higher than lv 50 for the NPCs to let you start an Assault mission. You may cancel an Assault mission by talking to the Hume behind the counter that gives I.D. Tags and then start up another to travel to another point.

In other words, if BLU is not 50, if you can change to a job that IS at least 50, you can start a mission, then go back and change to BLU, and then you can travel to that Staging Point as BLU. This saves lots of Imperial Standing, and you don't lose your I.D. Tags.

After speaking with an Immortal you receive a Key Item, Brand of the [whatever]Serpent. Once you have all 5, speak to Waoud again, and you will receive your Sword immediately after the quest finishes, and you will receive the title Branded by the 5 Serpents.

Good luck.

Combat Casters

This sword is sorta nice, really depends on what you other equips look like. I personally used 2x Combats Casters +1 43-55.

The Sword looks cool, and if you're Galka the MP pool is nice too.Thankfully the quest itself is a joke if you already have all Staging points
Immortal's Scimitar or Combat caster +1?
# Jul 31 2006 at 11:10 AM Rating: Default
well at 43 you get the Combat caster+1 with +14 MP and the added stuff from Combat caster itself so have this on off hand maybe?
