Can I request the boots and how do i go about doing it. I had the boots at one time but not anymore. Ive opened the coffer like 3 times since and no boots. I looked into current quests looks like im currently on True Will. now do i just have to complete that one or all of them to go back and request. i need to request the first 3 for the katanas the legs and the boots I cant remember if i ever got head af i dont think i did. If someone can give me some input that would help out a lot Thank you!!

SummaryA piece of ninja artifact gear lays hidden in a coffer chest in Sea Serpent Grotto. WalkthroughNote: To do this quest, you must first complete the quest 20 in Pirate Years - NIN AF1 and activate the quest Borghertz's Lurking Hands. You will need to have a Mythril Beastcoin to find your coffer. Head to Sea Serpent Grotto and find a Grotto coffer key. The mobs Blubber Eyes, Bog Sahagin, Marsh Sahagin, Razorjaw Pugil, Rock Crab and Swamp Sahagin drop the keys. Next, find the treasure coffer. To do this, first head to H-11 and examine the ??? on the wall. Continue to examine the ??? until you see the message about mythril shavings. Then, trade your Mythril Beastcoin to the ???, and a door will open. Go through this door to proceed to the next map. In this area, coffer chests can spawn at H-7, I-9, H-8, G-6, F-6, G-10, F-9, D-9 and E-11. Trade your key to the coffer to receive your Ninja's Kyahan. I was shouting for help in Jeuno for a long time when I looked up the levels for the mobs that drop the coffer key. All the mobs range from level 52-62 depending on the mob. So I decided to solo the key. I bought a mythril beastcoin from the AH in Norg then I proceded to the mythril door. In order to open the door you need to click on it until it says "There is mythril dust around the hole/door" I went to the little cul-de-sac in (J-5) near where Mouu The Waverider spawns. About 10 or 11 sahagins and 2 death by rock crabs later I decided to call it a night and try again the next morning. I logged in and decided to go a little further into the cave and thought I found a safe place to camp sahagins and as I pulled a Bog Sahagin a crabs pops, agros and kills me. A kind RDM came and gave me a raise and asked using the Auto-translate function if I was looking for the key. I nodded and he invited me to his party where him and his two japanese friends were leveling thier NPC's they killed 6 or 7 mobs before the Key drops off a Razorjaw Pugil and they even helped me find the coffer too!!

How often does the Coffer for AF feet pop? I been running around wasting sneak like mad.

yeah so i have made many trips thru ssg for it is my favorite zone due to the fact im a nin and norg is near by etc etc... but i decided to ge the coffer for my boots yesterday night since i had just done 2 other af parts so i went for a 3rd
i was a 56 nin at the time with 2 tnl to 57 but even though i read all these posts about how ppl duoed as 60s-60+s and died or had trouble i went for it
i went to myth door, walked around looking for an isolated mob and since i dont like crabs i went for one of them. Engaged, owned, got every drp possible (i think) it didnt touch me and i coulda gone to sleep. i used only Huton Hyoton Katon Kurayami and duh Utsusemi.

Do you have to start the quest w/ guslam to get the armor? It's just that I still have rng af hands on w/ guslam and that's all he'll speak about. If I do have to follow through w/ the rng stuff, do I have to go as far as fighting DS or just getting the old gauntlets? - thanks for any input >.<

I solo'ed this coffer as 69RDM/NIN with a little NPC assistance. It took 2 trips + 3 Tactics Pearl calls before I got it (so about 60-ish kills). Then I came back as 50NIN/WHM and eventually got the coffer. My key eventually dropped off of a Bog Sahagin.
Correction: Must be lv51+ to obtain the quest.

I just opened this coffer and got my kyahan as 50NIN. Just like all AF, you can get it at 50.

How do i get the the harder areas that let you fight the mobs that drop the coffer keys? Do i need to go through the Ornamented Door or what please help me!!! And if I do how do i get through it??

This has become an incredibly tough key for me to obtain, I've gone to the Grotto upwards of ten times, and sat behind the door you need the mythil beastcoin to enter killing sahagin for hours. I've even tried with a lv68 THF buddy and still no luck. If anyone could give me help, I would be ever grateful. Name is Dunpeal and I'm on Carbuncle. Please, this key is driving me nuts.
All right, got this key Saturday night behind the mythril door off a Bog Sahagin. A BST in my LS had told me they were dropping behind the silver door, but when we went back, it was nothing doing. Came back Saturday night with a level 70 MNK (neither done of us subbing THF, stupidly), and we got the key in about an hour behind the mythril door. How we got it in an hour without TH is beyond me.
I think we were lucky, because there were two other people there farming for the key when we got there, and I was able to get the key, find the coffer, and get out before they even found a single key.

I had a very kind BST by the name of Kesac to help me tonight and we went all the way down behind the mythril door to where all the Blubber Eyes were, after twenty minutes or so, I finally got a key off a Robber Crab conned Very Tough to me at level 54.
I've heard Blubber Eyes themselves drop the key, but after fighting one of them with just us two (he was lv60) and his Razorjaw Pugil, we were both at half hp from a Firega II and decided not to engage any more ^^;
Again, thanks to Kesac for hearing my cries in Lower Jeuno. Now all I have to do is open the coffer itself.....

54 nin/war (me)
60 whm/smn
60 drk/war
65 sam/thf

In 1 hour, we killed so many monsters that we all had coffer keys. This is one of the easiest coffer keys int he entire game to get and a very easy coffer to find since nobody camps it.

I think any standard coffer mob/skillup (lvls 160-200) parties would be fine. Coffer mobs are coffer mobs, always the same level range (although not necessarily same difficulty).

I am an avid fisherman, and hung out in SSG a ton! (Also a Ninja) Anyhow one day a LS mate came out with his DRK, and we whacked Sahagins and Crabs behind Mithril Beastcoin door for the key, and then found the coffer back there.
Anyhow quick and dirty walkthrough:
1. Obtain mithril beastcoin from AH (or mob if THF.)
2. Open Mitril Beastcoin door SW of fishing lake in SSG.
3. Kill mobs behind mithril beastcoin door until you get a key.(I got mine from a Crab Add)
4. Open coffer, which is also located deeper in behind Mithril Beastcoin door. The map back here can be confusing as there is a winding "S" shaped path with drop offs. See map @ http://www.speakeasy.org/~sticks/ffxi/treasure/Mp_Sea_Serpent_Grotto_03.html
5. Wait until nighttime and run fast! Wee!
OK, a little about the party needed to handle this. I was a upper 50's NIN, and my DRK friend was a lower 60 DRK. We did get taken out once from links/adds. Add a healer of some type to this mix and you should be fine. In summary a party of 3 around 60 with a healer will be fine back here.
