Quake, as well as Tornado, Freeze, Flare, Burst, Flood, and Gravity, All have II versions, all are approx. lvl 200 however. The spell Meteor also exists, except it and Meteor II, are both lvl. 200.
Meteor is a skill of Carbuncle (SMN), Meteor 2 is used by King Behemoth. Other spells like Jubaku: Ni (dynamis ninja), Stonega IV (Kirin), Stone V (Kirin) or Banishga III (Byakko) are also used by certain Dynamis mobs, HNMs or GODs. So those spells are/might be reserved for future monsters or maybe future expansions (like Banish III). Also the Drain II "spell" and Aspir II "spell" are also ingame, they are the "added effect: Drain HP/MP" of certain weapons or ammo.

Incorrect, Meteorite is what Carbuncle uses which is in no way shape or form on the damage level of Ancient Magic. Meteor is what King Behemoth use. Wanted to nip this in the bud since Alla is the #1 source for misinformation. No clue where you pulled Meteor II from... your @$$ perhaps? Or KI's posts about dat files? ^^
all of the AM are more for fun. They cost alot mp, take ages to cast and the (unresisted) dmg (on a MB) will make the blm tank (and die) for sure unless the mob dies right away.In alot random pt's you'll plainly miss the MB since you have to start casting and hope for your guys starting in time, another drawback is that you cant do things like sleeping adds or stunning evil attacks (like bomb tosses) for that time. Also your mostly using distortion chains (water/ice) during most of the game till lvl3 chains. Besides those spells are pretty useless (or dangerous for the pt) if used outside skillchains (like a brainless triggerhappy taru blm planting a freeze right on top of the 1st voke. . .)
While I agree that AM only hinders the party, having generally at least one is essential to Manaburn parties (which in a nutshell is bunch of black mages blowing a mob up with one single spell). So AMs have their advantages, just not in the traditional party setting... incase anyone wasn't aware.
One think my LS has always been there for is genkai and the limit break items. We'll sit for hours just making sure that all the pieces are recieved by those who need them.
Fast forward to the necropolis and waiting on a lich to spawn for the papyrus. Six of us are down there fending off dogs and mummys and fallen knights awaiting the lich to spawn. Well, POP! It's on the horizon and I can't even target it yet, so I creep forward until I can at least verify my findings with a difficulty check. Ten seconds later my LS buddy says,
Alesandra: POP...lich here. Want me to pull? Seiferx: Wait for Gizzmo. Alesandra: OK Lionhardt: Bye Ale. Alesandra: You're leaving? Lionhardt: Nope. Lionhardt: you're gonna die soon. Alesandra: huh??? (I then hear what sounds like wind blowing and I see all this light around the lich) Lich casts Quake on Alesandra. Alesandra takes 975 damage. Alesandra was defeated by the Lich.
Damn thing aggroed me and I didn't even know it. I hate arcane magic when I'm on the other side of where it's being cast...

compare from other Ancient Spell, this one cost alot!! why? cuz the monster that drop this r high lv .. like lv.70 or from BCNM50 which u need a full PT to get that.. and it's all random drop too...
