killed it like 15 times. droped 5 times. seen him in many places but alway along the wall from the tower to the end of the river. somtimes like 10sec more down the street. a method that works: kill it and be back in 1:30 kill crawler and he WILL pop from 2:05 to 2:15. if you stay after TOD and kill crawler you can down his respawntime to like 1:10 ... fastest time i ever got was like 50min.
if you know that and TOD you dont have to stay long... like 30min and you got an almost granted pop.

ive seen him like 12-14 times near the road. 1 time at the end of the river and 1 time in the middel of the way done the river. many ppl are keep telling me they saw him most times at the end of the river.

never got the cape below 50% of Moon 3 drops at full moon.
and 13 of 15 pops at night... why ever.

it goes 22k in jeuno 30k in windy but sometimes up to 50...

Can't say I've put the most time in on Spipy, but I've killed him 10 or so times with no drop...

Had been harvesting in West Saruta: Red moko grass, Saruta cotton, etc and meanwhile also killing Giant Bees for chips, and Crawlers for threads (and pick-pocketing Mandragoras). Ran out of sickles and still needed a couple more threads to complete a stack. Decided to head to East Saruta and kill Crawlers there and hunt the elusive beast Spipy until I got my stack. Killed one Crawler and saw him. No one around. Had 16 THF/WAR. Used SA and 2hr. Had time for 2 weapons skills (had Beestinger so used Gust Slash). Whipped his butt (as usual), except this time....MIST SILK CAPE! WOOOHOOOT! Angelboo saw me and applauded. Unfortunately, THF could not don the cape for her to see. Oh yeah, he also dropped the last 2 threads for my stack. What a night!

Must say also though, that although they had been going for 150k at Bastok AH, saw that they are only 60k in Jeuno. Oh well. I plan on wearing the thing anyway, but...

After two years of loking for this greedy little crawler I was about to give up. Oh I have got him many times but never got the drop.

Tonight I was running around East Saru farming Yag feathers, bird feathers and insect wings when I thought I would take a chance and pull up widescan, after all what could it hurt. I pulled up wide scan and flipped through the list and there he was on my widescan list, Spiny Spipi (or Stingy Spipi as we call him.) I locked widescan on the little bugger and high tailed it to where he was figuring he would be taken but to my suprise there he sat in all his glory, unclaimed.

I figured well the silk drop would be good as he gives me 2 spools each time but the chance of getting the cape would be zero since I was on BST75/NIN37 and it was not foggy out (that part is just a rumor, it does not have to be foggy out nor do you have to be in a low level job, to get the drop.)

I took off both my swords and started punching him, figured this would be a slow process of taking him out with hand-to-hand, but I wanted to test another rumor I have been told. (next Spiny Spipi rumor kill him slowly and you will get drop.) Mind you BST has no hand-to-hand but Ninja does and well since I used to play Monk in the past my hand-to-hand was pretty high.

I didn't count the number of hits nor did I track the damage but it was a short time and Spiny Spipi was down. I kind of had my eyes closed when he dropped to the ground and the items dropped into my bag.

I looked up at the screen and could not believe my eyes, there in my bag dropped one spool of silk thread and the Mist Silk Cape. I just stared at the screen then slapped that puppy up in my bazzar at max price.

I still cannot believe the luck I had tonight and well, I hope I was able to dispell some of the 'rumors' that are out there for Spiny Spipi.

decided to camp this puppy tonight.. ran in circles for an hour farming silks and beehives when i noticed a larger than average crawler off the beated trail.. nobody else was around. dia'd him and clubbed him down np with my 31whm/15blm. got the drop. currently 150k on bahamat!

Came across this NM unexpectedly the first time on Bahamut with a friend while traveling back to Windurst from somewhere, forgot where. A taru died next to it, friend, I think 30WAR and I, at the time, 23? THF killed it with no trouble at all, rather quick too. 1/1 drop on Bahamut. My friend boasted in /sh, and I got flamed by the taru's ls mates for it, she didn't. >> << Pfft.

0/2 on Asura though. :(

Killed him about 30 minutes ago, did it with a lvl 13 thf, had to use 2 hour and got poisoned with about 75 hp left, finally killed it with 19 hp left and still poisoned, the spiny got his revenge by killing me with poison. Also forgot to set hp in windy so had to travel all the way back to windy :( but I did get the cape which currently selling for 150k on Pandemonium.

So I'm planning on starting WHM soon and I wanted to pick up one of these. To my dismay, they are going for 200-250k in Jeuno, and bids of 100k in other cities failed, even though that's what the price history says it was going for like a week ago. *coughgilsellerscough* I don't particularly feel like paying that much money for MND+1, but there are no other good back pieces for WHM at low levels, so I guess I'm stuck. But after reading the posts on the NM, I'm going to camp it, because I want the Pilgrim's Wand too and will be in the area anyway. Time to buy my 50 THF roommate a pizza and ask him for a favor...

After camping Spini for a few hours on a couple of days i finally get mt cape.

The First 4 times I fought him i was 50RDM/25THF. Killed him 4 times (obviously lol) yet much to my dismay, no drop. Cue much ranting and me giving up on the cape.
A few weeks later i decided to finally level bst so i can do a few bcnms when who do I spy but my old nemisis Spini wandering near the river, "Right" i think, "You're toast {bio}tch". I grab a mandy and set it to work and watch it quickly die. I grab a bee to dd (O.o), start beating it with my axe, pop a coloured egg an a apple au lait and it was on! Walked away with 66 hp 0 mp 1 silk and my cape^^ All this as a 12BST/6WHM!

I dont know whether this is true or not but this has lead me to believe that your more likely to get drop if the mob is a challenge, not just farm fodder.

Just my 2 pence (I'm english).

I was campin nm with my friend takanna when i dc'ed. We wer campin for an hour and only to realize someone else took it. so we gave up. Damn taru!!!!

I just bought this for my RDM / WHM and well.. looks nice.. cost me 50k but I know as a Elvaan I need all the MND I can get and its a rare item..

But still in this thread, not many say if its REALLY worth it or not. =/

Last night about 330am i was camping and killing everything for 2 hours. Out of no were a higher lvl mage comes up out of the distance as i am running over to area I-7 from J-7 I see him get off his mount and walk to the far side of I-7 then he brags to me when i catch up he killed this damn worm. It pissed me off. There were only 6 people in the whole region on and he takes him from me and starts braggings and hooting then i tell him how long i was camping and he became a real jerk and said too bad it is mine now. His name was sub (something) zerro. This is all on the Hades server. I just wanted to reach through this computer and choke the living *&ap out of him. But oh well. And i know he saw me running and killing everything in sight.

I guess i'm going to camp NMs now that i read how much they sell for.

I need to make some money!

i just killed him 15 mins ago for the 4th time and has dropped 3 capes, the 40k(garuda)really helps after buying 320k in equip for RNG lvl 30... i love the noct+1 gear, its awesome

I love being a whm and untill i unlock smn it is my main job (will probably switch between the two). When I saw the stats I knew i needed his cape, but being a mage with a complete list of spells i didn't have 40k to spend (Lakshmi). I faught Spiny as a 20 whm and never broke a sweat. I got the cape on the second try (six hours....... many people looking :( ). This cape was well worth it though. Any whm that can travel to Windy I would strongly sedgest you get this cape!

I have gotten spiny sippis drop 4times this week while farming with 11 to 13 thf and with my ranger subbed on my pld for the heck of it. I have killed him about 9 times.With thf at 11 once i did actually die once he was down to the last hit and perfect dodge had just wore off,and he missed me,i pulled out my bow for one last hit and I died of poison,Lmao so i grabbed my warrior when i bloodported and chocoed out there to get him again, he wasnt there??There was no one in sight and i shouted did anyone kill spiny? ,no reply.That is still a mystery to me

Black Mages use INT primarily to bolster their magic potency, and you're right there aren't really any skills associated with MND as far as a BLM is concerned. I say this would strictly be used for WHM or BRD.

Is this cape really worth the truble of getting and keeping for a BLM? I mean I don't think they have any spells they really deal with mind.

Ran into him on the open path by mistake, I was surprised cause he was in the open. Beat him easy as a 18pld/war got the drop.

As a lvl 30 Whm, should I keep this cape or pick up a White Cape at lvl 32?
