One of those items that you can buy if you have the gil, or camp the NM if you have the time. You're not going to get a lot of "oooh's", and "aaah's" with this item. But nice to have if you're a mage of any class. Otherwise, just don your Cotton Cape.
I just bought this for my RDM / WHM and well.. looks nice.. cost me 50k but I know as a Elvaan I need all the MND I can get and its a rare item..
But still in this thread, not many say if its REALLY worth it or not. =/

well u post about how ppl on this post dont say if it is worth it and personally a taru whm i think it is extremly good for me atm well at least till 32 white cape ^^ but still i might stick with the mist silk cape just pecause it toke me so long to get lol right now im 1/1 everytime i saw spipi it was being killed infront of me but then i got my chance and i showed him the pain of haveing someone farm him for 15 hrs lol (not a constant 15 hrs but over time)

What do you mean you need all the MND you can get as an Elvaan? Elvaans have the highest MND of all races.
They have the highest mnd , which means getting more mnd makes their strenghts stronger.

sry to inform u but the mind on a elvaan does not help as much as u think because all cure spells have capps on how much they can cure by except cure 5 and i doubt someone capable of cure 5 would use a mist silk cape lol plz dont take offence to ths i am just informing u ^^
Your an idiot Korey. People capable of Cure V don't use it because there are better back items. MND doesn't just help with cure you know, it helps with something called ENFEEBLES too.

People really are greedy. I was out leveling Thief and happen to run into this NM, when a level 30-ish mage walks by and watches me get my *** kicked by it then goes ahead and takes it. I asked for cures when all he did was stare at my HP die down...sad...

gotta be honest with you... i don't consider myself greedy over minor things, i'll pay for someone's choco ride, give spare materials away for free, sell items to noobs at a discount or give away, etc. But if i'm camping a NM and lose the claim to someone else, i'll sit there and spam my shadowbind macro hoping they lose hate or die or what not. Even if i had mp(i'm a rng), i don't think i would cure someone who claimed the NM if i had been camping it. Call me greedy if you want, but if i spend my time camping an item that is valuable to me, i have every right to let a person do what they can without help from me. I won't go so far as to mpk someone or interfere with them or be a bad sport and /tell angry mesages, but competition is competition.

i totally agree with you it makes me mad when im camping and somebody just comes along and gets claim. often if i am the one that comes along and grabs claim and see somebody run up who says they have been camping for hrs ill give it up. good karma :D

This thing is worth 60K+ on cerberus now
Last night about 330am i was camping and killing everything for 2 hours. Out of no were a higher lvl mage comes up out of the distance as i am running over to area I-7 from J-7 I see him get off his mount and walk to the far side of I-7 then he brags to me when i catch up he killed this damn worm. It pissed me off. There were only 6 people in the whole region on and he takes him from me and starts braggings and hooting then i tell him how long i was camping and he became a real jerk and said too bad it is mine now. His name was sub (something) zerro. This is all on the Hades server. I just wanted to reach through this computer and choke the living *&ap out of him. But oh well. And i know he saw me running and killing everything in sight.

Just camped spiny for the first time today. Camped for 30 min and got the cape on the first kill. 1/1.
about 70k on asura...currently camping spipi so i can sell this and get zinc ores for norg fame

i just killed him 15 mins ago for the 4th time and has dropped 3 capes, the 40k(garuda)really helps after buying 320k in equip for RNG lvl 30... i love the noct+1 gear, its awesome

Came across Spiny while heading to the Horoturo Ruins in E Sab, wasn't sure what it was until I noticed the name was different, I knew it dropped something important. I was hunting with my 47War/23Thf, so I had no problem taking it down. Got the Cape on first drop and a silk thread to ^_^.
I love being a whm and untill i unlock smn it is my main job (will probably switch between the two). When I saw the stats I knew i needed his cape, but being a mage with a complete list of spells i didn't have 40k to spend (Lakshmi). I faught Spiny as a 20 whm and never broke a sweat. I got the cape on the second try (six hours....... many people looking :( ). This cape was well worth it though. Any whm that can travel to Windy I would strongly sedgest you get this cape!

Afterwards trained for what seemed like 2hrs, looking for silk mostly, always heading to the 2 big double trees over in J-6 for some reason. Well, I'm so glad I did because at approx. 2:30ish AM CST I spotted spipi there at the 2 trees with another crawler. Killed it and got the cape on first drop. So happy that I didn't spend 30 or 50k on it (Windy/Jeuno AH price; Pandemonium) :)

I have gotten spiny sippis drop 4times this week while farming with 11 to 13 thf and with my ranger subbed on my pld for the heck of it. I have killed him about 9 times.With thf at 11 once i did actually die once he was down to the last hit and perfect dodge had just wore off,and he missed me,i pulled out my bow for one last hit and I died of poison,Lmao so i grabbed my warrior when i bloodported and chocoed out there to get him again, he wasnt there??There was no one in sight and i shouted did anyone kill spiny? ,no reply.That is still a mystery to me

After over 2 hours of looking for this little foe I finaly came across it and recieved the cape on my first kill. With a 18 RDM it gave me no trouble at all but make sure you have at least 4 empty slots in your pack as you realy don't want to drop the item after getting it.

in a total of 4 hours of camping (2 earlier then 2 later on), spipi popped 3 times. I killed him 3 times and got the cape each time. I was blown away x.x Dumb luck or payment for giving away a cape to a noob in the past.

Don't need to sell them, just get the in the ah, or send them to yourself. The item doesn't count as being on your person if it is in the delivery system. Neat trick in a pinch:)
You could have 20 of the cycling through your delivery box, and the game wouldn't care. However, if you try and pull one out while you have one on you it will complain.

Ok, was lvln my 20 smn and hadnt lvld whm passed 9 at the time. Since i was doin the 20 smn battles i had all me smn battle gear on me. Yagudo drink, ethers, and hi potions. So there I am lvl 9 whm exping in that area where spiny spawns. Of course he spawns when im 9 so we start the epic battle of all battles. Im hittin him for so so low i forget, but i keep beatin on him with staff. Yagudo drink, Cure cure cure, ether ether cure cure, hi potion, ether, cure cure ether benediction cure cure hipotion. I bring him down to about 1percent of his health bar and spiny defeats me! Man that was a blast one helluva fight, if i didn't have my smn fight gear on me at the time the fight woulda been over way way faster than it did. Was wonderin, can you get exp off of a NM? Was so so close to finding out.

Black Mages use INT primarily to bolster their magic potency, and you're right there aren't really any skills associated with MND as far as a BLM is concerned. I say this would strictly be used for WHM or BRD.
RDM have a good use for MND when curing, especially at lower levels. And SMN often have WHM subbed.

Is this cape really worth the truble of getting and keeping for a BLM? I mean I don't think they have any spells they really deal with mind.
Its worth it to newer low level players I suppose with more gil than sense, but frankly theres better capes to get later on as you progress through the game, I found the same situation with that travelers mantle off the spook, its nice at level 12 but there are better level 30 ones to get.
I politely disagree with the bit about newer/lower level players having more gil than sense if they buy this item. After all, there may be better capes as they progress through the game, but until they attain a level at which they can equip it, a higher level cape with better stats does nothing but take up space.
There is also some disparity with jobs. As BRD and RDM, I found better alternatives at lower levels, though not at 10. As BLM, SMN, and WHM, I could not get a similar defense and mind bonus until white cape at level 32, and even then it was at the sacrifice of +3 vs light. For the latter three jobs, I pretty much used the mist silk cape up until the job grew into the tundra mantle at 39.
Finally, there are still some occasions when a level 10 of any item is better than a level 30 or 40 item with better stats. Take, for instance, Eco-warrior, which is capped at 20; and mission 2-3 for all three nations, which end up in fights capped at 25. The level 39 mantle I mentioned above does me no good in BCNM 20s and 30s, nor in the three CoP Promyvion missions which cap at 30.

Ive killed this slimey pos about 6 times now and im 0/6 ;><; Three of the kills was while using 32DRK/16THF and still no drop. I think im cursed when it comes to NM drops.

Ran into him on the open path by mistake, I was surprised cause he was in the open. Beat him easy as a 18pld/war got the drop.
fought him twice before as a 14thf and 37war/15thf.

Ok just to put my two cents in, here is my story on Spiny Spipi and the Mist silk cape. Literaly today (sept. 27) im sitting in the comp lab befor football practice reading these threads and i look at how many people make a living off hunting nm's, so i decide to give it a try. i come home at 9:30 scrum around for about an hour killing crawlers with my 24 war. and im getting mad cuz im not getting silk threads and i havent found spipi yet. but finaly 11 rolls around and i run up to what i thought was a crawler... wrong, it was spipi, and whats better, he was attacking a poor lil taru pld lvl 7, so of course spipi had his way and the poor taru was devouerd, but i sat waiting patiently and got my chance to own the thing. i get the cape and a silk thread and go estatic for 5 mins. i tell the taru and offer him 10k for "holding" spipi for me, a small consulation i know but hey, he did help me out. so to start my hunting career i am 1/1 with spipi and i hope to hunt down and destroy many more nm's to get thier items as well. good hunting to all of you.

I just fought him the other night, but no one will buy it from the AH, so I'm seeing if I can sell it in my bazarr. If you're on Asura just tell me that you want the cape. Tell Dugin, it costs 30,000 gil.
