Dark Staff  

i picked mine up for 25K on carbuncle in jueno. i am quite please with the results. simply put a MUST have for ANY mage class

Hello all. I've never posted on an e-board, so forgive my newbiness.

Question: I'm a 51Blu/25Rdm, with a Dark Staff equipped.
Only thing is, Blu does not have the weapon skill for staves.
What I want to know is, as a Blu, what is the significance of being able
to use it if you can't lvl it up? Or, can you?

The prices of these plummeted to 50k on Phoenix, so I picked up a few with the intent of making a quick buck when the "new job rush" ended and their value started increasing again.

Trouble is, they've now crashed down to 20k. Did the ingredients to make them become incredibly common or something?

A similar tale is happening to Light Staffs, though they're only down to 50k so far.

What's most frustrating about all this is that Earth and Wind Staffs are still increasing in price. What the heck?!

Picked one up today for about 25k, really awesome, and the hmp is teh secks :x

Just bought this staff for 700k at Asura, there goes most of my gils T.T

Time to save up to buy my other staffs lol.

im sorry but on Siren server the price jumps but the highest i have ever seen it was 150k... right now the dark staff goes for a big 89-90k the light staff goes for about 90-100k...i fell sorry for yall and you high prices

Got mine for 90k on Diabolos.

I thought this had a hidden effect for Summoners. Is that true?

Has anyone with high woodworking ever tried desynthing this or one of the other elemental staves for the bead?

I don't no if this subject has been answered or not, but Im just curious as to the darks staff's hidden effect on debuffs. I know that it enhances dark type magic all round but if I were to try and slow a mob would the dark staff help or should I just keep my +5 MND items? Please respond input is good. ^^

And lets say the Drk has 120%TP after one battle. He change to this stuff to gain mp. Of course you know.... when someone changes weapon he resets his TP.... right?? And you know that also, no TP...no skillchain...no mb...no chains...sh*tty exp right???

Ive beent through so many dark staves b/c ive changed my mind so many times with Thinking about what job but I will never sell my dark staff again b.c it can cut down on the downtime a whole lot!!!!!

I bought this for my RDM after a few BCNM battles and it is one of the best investments a mage can make. Even with Convert and Refresh, RDM can get low on MP especially when you have to Refresh 3 other people (PLD, WHM, BLM) and debuff. I get a few tics to heal between pulls and that means I get about +30 MP for every battle, sometimes more, depending on the length of pull. Even with the great stats on this staff, I use it for nothing more than healing. I carry a Crimson Blade (lvl 49, DMG 28, DLY 231, MP +10, INT +5)to use during battles and for casting, since the INT +5 with the sword is way better than the +1 from the staff. This is an item that you'll use for good, so pick it up as soon as you can. I also agree that it is almost expected for a lvl 51+ mage to have one, since every mage I've seen attain lvl 51 immediately gets asked if he has one. If you are a BLM or WHM, keep a wand on you as well and write a macro to change gear between heals (i.e. /equip main "Dark Staff", and /equip main "Solid Wand") because the wands give you much more MND and INT boosts when casting.

BTW - They go for 175-200k on Shiva

This Staff saved my RDM butt on many occasions. Definitely recommended. I DO get to heal. refresh at the begining, heal after mob dies, and begin refreshing as soon as another is pulled. I keep my party members happy and even get compliments. and RDM CAN heal in a PT.

i got a Ice staff for 12k off a friend
then did lots of BCNM 40 and picked up this staff and a light Staff for 100k each. Best investment I made
especially since both are nearing 200k now on the Fenrir Server :-\

Denielle you're wrong in some sense, PLD should have one as that would be a letdown also.

well.. i think that it would be a useful staff depending on what kind of rdm you are. if you do Weopon skills its not very useful. but if you do magic bursts from afar i think it's a great thing to have~

Just picked mine up for 110k on Shiva.
Also picked up an Ice Staff for about 35k.

If you are a BLM, buy these two staves!! I fished all weekend to get the cash but definitely worth it.

Oh and as someone else pointed out: If you have mp, get this staff!

i gotta say, this staff is awsome. especially in looks. i love the staves with the crystal ball at the end lol

I think i might buy this for my PLD and just switch to it between fights for better MP regeneration. The only reason I might not is because it's pretty damn expensive and the quipping might become really annoying. I'll probably just make sure I have a rdm or brd with me at all times.

Why does dark bead cost more than the dark staff. On my server at least. I mean since the only way to make these are from a dark bead (Level 80 goldsmith?) ebony log and wind crystal. Or do wood workers try to level from these or hq these?

Well, I just bought my ligth staff last nite, and now I will be saving for this baby. I went with light staff first b/c of the curing bonuses. With smn subbed at 25, auto refresh with a rdm refresh gives 4mp per tick, so that is not a prob. And with the extra clear minds that smn gave, resting is not a prob. Any advice to whm in deciding which is first? Go with light to help better your cures, then go for this. You can always rest during the fight if it is going well. And if you got smn as sub, make sure its at 25 for auto-refresh. Then again, this is all my opinion, and you do not have to listen to me. One more thing, soloing with light staff as a whm will be better, it hits harder than blessed hammer and it gives free carby. I know this gives free Fenrir (or reduced cost) but who has fenrir at low lvl smn?? I sure dont =P I would love to have him though

Dark staff is WORTH ur money if you have mp =P
