Hello, im not to accustomed askin for help here but I'm in need of this weapon badly ; ;
Garuda Server, Name Kazume
Started about a year ago camping it for my BRD (yeah hardly a job that needs it but so many have one so why not give it a shot XD)
After about 3 months of ToD's and getting outclaimed, plus sometimes I would have ToD and there wasnt anyone free or willing to come help out, so I gave up at that point.
Flash forward ToAU release, got COR to 75 eventually and am now trying to camp this for my COR since it's an awesome TP weapon for the job. Almos every COR at 75 has this and I even saw one with it and of-handing a Phantom Fleuret O_o...
Needless to say i'm pumped again to try and get this for myself ^ ^
But once again, there's either not enough help online, I get outlotted (people who know me know that i lot on occasion under 200 consistently... ) or when everything seems to be perfect (i.e.: im only one lotting, Full PT with an alliance sometimes, etc.) then the obvious happens,.. someone else claims it and kills...
Add to that I cant seem to find a NIN willing to tank it for me on occasion (I have BRD and COR to 75, so the support is there, no excuse about not having either job to come help ; ;)
Either that or people aren't psyched about the Idea of a COR getting an awesome weapon... I don't even know the reason anymore, atfer three more months of no sword, the help just isn't as frequent as it used to be ; ;
Point is i'm trying yet again to camp it and as you all know, the week of 3/11-3/17 is break time from classes for most people, so I'll be busy getting ToD's again and if anyone can lend a hand i'd greatly appreciate it. Also if anyone can help me as of today up until the 17th I can look into taking time of from LS events to come and possibly get help with the sword.
The LS i'm in has the rule "Your ToD your drop" but at this point I dont care who lots as long as i'm there lotting with you..
(maybe that's why they wont come... I usually have the ToD that I worked to get XD)
Total time since I began camping this is about a year, actual time at the site is about 3 months on BRD and 3 on COR so half a year O_o and I know people that get it way quicker than that ; ;
anyways im usually gonne be there most of the time starting now and most of my off time there next week since i'm on break ^ ^
any help is appreciated.

Honestly, PLD doesnt help much in a Charybdis fight, and in fact can make the fight much more difficult if they decide to melee it... Charybdis hits WAY too hard and fast for a PLD to tank him, especially only a 70. If you have someone else tanking, and you're meleeing as PLD, then you're giving it lots more TP< and charybdis with TP is VERY deadly - this is how alliances of 18 wipe to him when groups of 3 (RDM BRD NIN or THF) can easily take him out without any trouble. Since PLD does get Two auto-refreshes (trait and Parade gorget), you coudl equip Crow gear, and hang back and be a support/healing job, but I HIGHLY advise against tanking it or meleeing.
wow, it's not very often that equipment ACTUALLY matches the image lol, i like that this sword looks like it does in the picture, its cool!!
lol, if you want a good example of how equipment is wrong compared to pictures, then just buy a hypno staff (only 1k on sylph) the image is blue and kinda looks cool, but the staff itself is one of those boring crooked sticks :(

The Story:
Well I woke up on a Beautiful Saturday morning (Around 10-ish) to log on in the deepest regions of the Sea Serpent Grotto, I was there for the ToD. And Whaddya know? An hour later, Charybdis Pops. I get the ToD, 11:30 AM (Eastern Time).
Fast-Forward 8 Hours. Chipsahoy, Saturna, Chemius, Cenni, and I are all chillin' down there, taking down place-holders, and we seemed fairly confident (Seeing we were the only people down there at the moment). Three Hours into the Window I see a familiar Galka (He was there getting the ToD with me earlier). I thought "Oh no big deal".
Another hour of killing Place-Holders, and I see a swarm of Teal-Linkpearls coming into the room. "Competition ;;". They outnumbered us, and after they had come, they literally claimed every placeholder that spawned. Every. Single. One. Our little party of friends were disheartened. "No way we're getting Charybdis now ;;".
But... When it really mattered, when Charybdis finally spawned. As I (As well as everyone else, I'm guessing) was fumbling with our Macro's....
Saturna! Our FAVORITE Mithra managed to Claim Charybdis with a quick-draw-Dia!
Half hour of fighting later (We were being cautious, and we got an Elemental Aggro that I had to solo). Charybdis was down, and the Joyeuse was mine.

Can someone explain why this would be a good sword for PLD? I am just curious. ^^ I can see a RDM definitely useing this but for PLD not so much.
It's good for PLD for the same reason it's good for RDMs (and WARs.) The DoT and TP gain is absolutely insane. The double attack procs 50% of the time. That means a lot more damage and much faster TP gain. Even with the lower damage rating compared to something like an espadon or a company sword the extra damage and extra WSs more than make up for it, especially if you're /nin and main-handing something that will give you better WS numbers.

I got **** for drops today in BCNM40 Under observation, so in anger i went to kill charby PH mobs hoping to get Charby to pop, or go watch for ToD.
I arrive and no one is around save some gilsellers killing Zugg the shoreleaper, 2 Mantas as usual in the room, my friend Davitz is with me (70WAR). At approx 11pm my time he has to leave with it being a sunday so i carry on solo. until 1am when i'm just starting to get tired and thinking about calling it a day... this HUGE manta appears... i tab it and it is Charybdis.
Almost falling out of my chair i made repeated pleas on my LS for assistance, but everyone was sticking to their plans of lvling or were afk. Before long a NIN and a RDM are en route, meanwhile i am panicing as RMT are sizing up charybdis. They engage and rapidly wipe, simply leaving when raised. (relief numer 1).
After a couple of hours of Death, reraises, reinforcements arriving, panics, drama, struggle we got to an alliance of 8,

We knew we were kinda low on healing, but with the addition of Parade gorget, PLDs can keep up a good stream of MP to heal. It wasnt long before NINs started going down, the 72 NIN and a 75 NIN went down once during the fight, we used a alternating system so one NIN was always resting while 2 fighting, all other members supporting NINs and NOT meleeing.
It fell after approx 15-25mins, and Single drop was Joyeuse... my Lot was 917 which was unmatched except for a BST who promptly passed (just wanted to play mind tricks, aint that right spanki ^^). Other lots were low 200, and a mid 700.
And that is how i obtained my Joyeuse! Dreams do come true, even at the most obscure times and places.

RDM gravity it and ran away then two houred. she started blasting the crap out of the NM and it made it to 1% THEN the link woke up and pounded the RDM then the only person left in the other PT was a taru BRD.. which was killed in less then 1 second. amazingly.... it didnt die... and we got claim and killed in in like 2-4 hits!! im so hyped up.. LOLOL welp thats my story... thank you Cluh and Angelxii! you guys fleppen ROCK
I got ToD Sat morning at 11:30am, this was months ago, (was only there for 30mins and it popped). JP team was there camping, Charby popped, JP killed Charby (was hoping for them to get wiped at 1% lol). Went back 7 hours and 50mins after with my Social LS and my Dynamis LS. Same JP team was there. Killed 2 of the PH's, didn't kill the one outside. Then ten minutes after the window was open, Charby popped, BLM friend claimed it. Then PLD friend kited, us mages using light nukes, and DoT, and enfeebs. PLD fell, RR, then tanked/kited again. Another PLD friend was there too meleeing (loltwinpld), he fell too. WAR friend fell, Princess MNK fell. RDM friend came, he was farming eyes. So just mages and one PLD were alive nuking and kiting Chary. JP team was anxious for us to wipe. At 10%, I started nuking heavily(came as blm). Charby didn't like that, did some AOE, ate my blink and ss, my hp went down from 900+ to 19 lol. Then Charby, just fell to the ground or something, I don't remember who killed it, it was chaos, maybe killed by DoT, lol. Joyeuse is mine. Bought E-Sword 2months later for 7.6mil ^^. Joyeuse + E-sword = Sexy.
lol, a friend of mine was talkin to this guy with joyeuse and he said the additional affect procs so many times for him that it should be "Additional Affect: Occasionaly attacks once" XD

I decided I'd try and get this guys ToD or something so i traveled to the deep dark reaches of this scary place lol.. When I got there I found about 8 people, I looked up and saw he was out and unclaimed! Realizing everyone was busy I asked the party if i could join since they were not sure if they had enough, they let me in lol.. Soon after we claimed and beat the crap out of this guy! When he died the screen read "You find a joyeuse on the Charydbis." "Crisis receives a joyeuse." I had just showed up there... But some of those people had been there for 8hrs trying to form this party... Crisis then warped out w/o ever saying a word to anyone. I hate people who **** like this. I'm only posting this so that those on the garuda server knows to lookout for this dude... gl getting your joytoys guys :)

Here's the deal for everyone if you want to know. I had been camping Joyeuse for about 15 hours. I was soloing PH's. I see Charby pop, I formed a PT with Linkshell members and friends, and asked the 4 RMT in the area to help out and tank it which they said ok. My BRD friend was coming and said "Dont let the RMT ninja tank it until i'm there". So we're waiting for Omegadeath to arrive as BRD to help out. I see a person /tell me "Lildarkangel>> Can I join?" I'm like uhh ok, and I had my friend REX invite the reject into the 2nd alliance. We kill charby, I got drop. and then, Lildarkangel tells me how i'm single, how people hate me, how she likes it in her nose, and I got back after taking a dump, and I saw all of that and tried to respond but she was offline.

Yet all day, a semi enthusiastic mage initiated timed yawns. Then, right in his turmoil, Dramanue, enthused greatly now, again heard calls. Rejoining on Linkshell, only Charybdis sundered that instant. Trusting in his companions, the articulate mage's outlook (the dream's) retold of where she'd always exist. Rather enthusiastically, he truly saw and was relieved entirely. Vying endlessly, night's dreams never alleviated entangled sensations. Unsupressing exasperated yawns, only Joyeuse's greater nuances usually hindered enthused dreamers. I see, sighing in habit, yonder battle.

Thanks lilbabycakez and other ls members who came kill this for me ... when afk . came back and he was there and there was party there and i was expecting them to kill it but that sait there and started poking me ... there JP but eventually they got it out they gonna help me ... but i got friends to come just in case ... as i was waiting for them to either boot me ... or call for help right before it died to ***** me over 2 nins 75 and 75 brd and 75 thf pounded away ... 1 nin died 2x because whm was a lil slow and AoE is riduculously far distance .... but near end as all english friends yelling at me to make myself quartermaster it dropeed and i got .. and thanx again for your help

Got my Joy bout 4 days ago, got the ToD from a friend who claimed it but last the lot for it, been kinda pissed bout this thing, ive been campin it off and on for a month but everything i get a ToD or it pops no one aroudn to help me. This was weird but funny at the end. Got there with:

Got there at beginning of window, and camped for 2 hours killin PHs, eventually my friend who got me the ToD showed up, and the RDM had to go, got sleepy, and the THF and WHM fell asleep -.- so im there killin with my PLD friend, and 30 min before window closes my BRD friend gets on and i tell to get over here, and the THF wakes up with the WHM, and charby pops when im gettin the BRD down there...scared of rmts, THF claims before me and BRD get there...we wipe. RR back up, and we get ready buff up properly, and THF solos it with double mambo, sexiest thing ive ever seen, PLD and me took care of manta pops and helped cure so we wouldnt let whm gather to much hate. Half hour later, charby falls, and i get my Joy ;)

I just got My JOyeuse today after trying forever, and I thought i would share a few things of note.
Most sites and players mention a 8-12 hour pop time, but in all honesty, the pop is VERY random, even if you are killing the PH with each pop. The last time I showed up, I didnt have ToD, but camped it for 15 and a half hours before it popped. Which means, it could have been MUCH longer than 15.5 hours, since there's no telling how long ago it was killed before I arrived.
After I got TOD, it popped after 9 hours (only 1 hour into window). I was extremely lucky this time, there was no one there but me, soloing placeholders... SSG was filled with RMT, and at one point, while waiting for ls and friends to arrive, I was worried it woudl get claimed... And sure enough, an RMT duo tried to take it... and it was destroyign them in seconds, so they escaped. Only reason I can imagine them going after this is the Oxblood, or possibly just to **** me off, lmao!
Anyway, placeholder pops every 16min, and one VERY important thing I learned, on EVERY CHarybdis pop I have seen, if TWO Devil Mantas pop in the room instead of one, the very next pop will be Charybdis. This has been true every time I"ve seen it.
Another theory I have, call me crazy on this one if you want... but it seems as though when more people are camping it, it takes much longer to pop. I have been with, and seen SO many parties camping this and give up because it goes 8+ hours into it's window, and just doesnt pop, but when myself, and others I know have had tremendous luck with fast pops if they are the only one there, and soloing the placeholder. Seeing is believing.
Finally, about fighting it. You NEED to keep it very enfeebled (blind, slow, paralyze) and ALWAYS keep DoT spells (Bio II, Poison II at LEAST) on it unless you have a damn good tank with lots of blms to nuke it. You really need a brd, if you dont have one, you are extremely lucky if you win. Double Mambo and Elegy work wonders in this fight, since this thing attacks so frequently and so hard. Also, you dont want many melees pounding on it, and giving it tp, if you do, even an alliance of 18 can wipe, from it spamming AoE, and eating shadows. It's really not bad at all as long as everyone gives 100% and is always on their toes. A pt of three (RDM, BRD, and NIN or THF) can trio this easily, it just takes a little time.
Finally, I want to say, you can depend on others to help you fight it, and it's great to have support, but if you REALLY want this sword, you need to get your butt down there, and be prepared to camp it for a long time alone, and solo placeholders if need be. YOu have to be VERY patient, and if you dont feel it's worth the time, then just dont even consider getting it to begin with.

I got extremly lucky. Camped it for about 9 hours and logged out for the night. Logged in next afternoon and there he was. Pt had just wiped I started calling for my ls. They started to arrive other pt freaked and engaged him again. They die quickly again and after a epic struggle of 45 mins or so of almost dieing the Joyeuese is mine

Finally got the sword, which had been frustrating me before. My RDM now feels that whole much more complete finally. I had only recently come back to the game about 2days before after having a year out, partly because of my luck and other campers with this sword.
Knowing how long I was away, my friends were glad to help. Went there after Maintenance and luckily it hadn't been popped yet, waited for 6hours with a few friends. Forever killing the Devil Manta's. We finally gave up, but I decided to see one last pop and everyone else warped.
Would you belive it, the next pop was Charybdis and everyone had warped, damn my luck! So i telled them all and they was on there way back again. During this time a party of three appeared alerting there shell (which in the entire 6hours was the only people to appear!)
So me alone and time against me the others frantically come back to the grotto. The BLM missed the airship though, but by this time the Ninja and Bard arrived. The BLM also had no gold coin, so the WHm had to trek back to open the gate.
While this was happening me (RDM/BLM), NIN/WAR and the BRD/WHM engaged battle to make sure we got the mob. Took about 5-10mins and it was down to 40% and we had full hp and mp still. easy fight. Then the WHM/BLM, BLM/WHM, THF/NIN arrived and took all of 2minutes to finish her off w00t finally I got my sword.
I wanna thank all involved Kreeper, Isabella, Calle, Odysseus and special shout to Parku who also has returned to the game.
