Mission Orders

Capture the three magicites in Davoi, Beadeaux, and Castle Oztroja to prevent the Shadow Lord's return.

Walkthrough

This mission may need an alliance and or high level assistance. This mission can take up to several hours, depending on your setup!

Jeuno

Head to Ru'Lude Gardens and talk to your Ambassador. He will then give you a key item to obtain an audience with the Archduke of Jeuno. After the cutscene, you need to obtain key items to gain access to the strongholds of the beastmen.

Take the letter the Duke gave you and present it to Aldo of the Tenshodo inside Neptune's Spire in Lower Jeuno. If you are not a member of the Tenshodo you must become one before you can continue this mission. Either complete the quest for membership or buy a scroll from the Auction House. After a cutscene you will obtain a Silver Bell as one of the three for access to the Magicite in Beadeaux. Then, talk to Sattal-Mansal and he will tell you to bring him a Quadav Charm and a Quadav Augury Shell so that he can give you the last two key items needed for Beadeaux -- Key Items, Coruscant Rosary and Black Matinee Necklace.

Now, either fight Coeurls in Meriphataud Mountains for Coeurl Meat or buy a piece from the Auction House. Head to Upper Jeuno and talk to Baudin, who is next to a house across from the Chocobo Stables. Once the cutscene is over, trade him the meat and you will receive Davoi Charm.

Finally, just walk between the Armor and Weapon shops and talk to Paya-Sabya. After the cutscene, head to Muckvix's Junk Store in Lower Jeuno and talk to Muckvix in the back room. After a cutscene, you will receive a Yagudo Torch.

Now, it's time to head out.

Davoi

This one is quick and simple, but you may have to fight an Orcish Trooper or Orcish Gladiator at the Wall of Dark Arts. Once you enter Davoi, turn right, take top route to G-7, go to the southernmost point. You'll see the Wall of Dark Arts immediately.

Activate the wall, by clicking on it, pass through, and enter Monastic Cavern. There are no monsters in here, so just follow this to the hollowed out bone wall, click the Magicite, and watch the cutscene. Once everyone is done with that and received Magicite: Optistone, warp back to Jeuno.

Castle Oztroja

Castle Oztroja will either be the longest or second longest task of the mission, because even to level 40+ everything will aggro halfway through, and the Yagudo appear in groups of three and four.

When you enter the castle, head to the door at (I-8). Have everyone stand back and away from the door. Send a Black Mage to test the levers, as if he triggers the trapdoor he can just Escape and come back. The lever combination changes with every game day, so just have one member try them. If the Black Mage is successful, then let him trigger the lever and have everyone else run inside the door.

Once inside, head to the right and up the stairs. You come to an intersection at (I-8) and need to head right. Follow this all the way straight and don't take the right turn at (I-7). Follow this until you come to another intersection, which is also on the second floor of the castle. DO NOT DROP DOWN, as you CAN fall. If you do, you have to start this all over again. Stay near the edge of the walls, and take the tunnel at (G-8), which will eventually lead you to an outside court at (G-7).

Again, you will be on an overpass and DON'T FALL DOWN. Go right and take the tunnel at (I-7). Once you enter the tunnel it's pretty straightforward. Head up the stairs, then down, and follow them until you reach an intersection. You're now heading into the lower depths of Castle Oztroja, where Yagudo Lutenists, Priors, Zealots, and Conquistadors are here, plentiful, and in groups of 2 - 4. If you're in an alliance of 35+ or even 40+, you will have to fight, so prepare yourselves.

Once you reach the intersection at (H-8), head right. Follow this through the bend, and go straight, ignoring the left turn at (G-9), and ignoring the left turn again at (G-9) when you follow the bend (if you look at the map, you'll see it's just a loop anyway). Follow this straight and you'll eventually come to the torch door -- this is what your Key Item: Yagudo Torch is for. Activate one of the two torches and wait for all members to appear on the other side.

Kill the few Yagudo here, and head right at the intersection at (H-10). Open the door, and enter the Altar Room. There's nothing in here, so just follow this to the hollowed out bone wall. Activate the Magicite, and watch the cutscene. Once everyone is done with that and received Magicite: Orustone, warp back to Jeuno.

Beadeaux

This part of the mission is actually easy to complete, but you have to make two trips. The first trip deals with killing the two named Quadav (not Notorious Monsters) and getting enough drops for everyone. This can be either quick, or time consuming, depending on the size of the alliance.

Enter Beadeaux, go straight, and head left at the intersection at (F-7). Follow the bed and go straight, ignoring the open area to the right. Follow the bend and head sound into the tunnel at (H-7). The Land Pugils aggro here, so you may need to kill them for anyone in the the 30s.

Once in the tunnel, follow the winding path down until you reach an intersection at (H-7). Left is the way to the Qulun Dome, and the Magicite. However, you only have one of the three key items needed to open the door, so we need to go right. Follow this path until you come to an intersection, and head right at (G-7), for left is The Afflictor, which will *curse* you. You have to be silenced by The Muter, to not be cursed when walking past The Afflictor. You'll see The Muter and you need to click on it and *activate* it to become muted.

We had a White Mage that had Silena and Cursna, so she didn't get muted, but had everyone else do so. They went ahead and killed all the Quadav in the room of The Afflictor at (G-8), while she just allowed herself to be cursed. She uncursed herself, and cast Silena on the other mages. We let her rest up, and just went on with our business.

Once past the machines, follow the tunnel and ignore the right turn at (F-7) and follow the tunnel out into the above. Follow the tunnel until you come to another Muter machine. Now, here's how you get onto the top platform and avoid the machines. You need to go *clockwise* around this entire area. On other words you need to go from (F-9) east, then southeast to (H-9). Go from here southwest to (H-10), then west and then southwest to (F-10) (the afflicter machines should be *out* of your vision or *north* of you), and finally go west and then north to (E-10) to the little incline leading up onto the above ledges.

You need to follow the southern ridge of this (DON'T FALL OFF!) until you get to (J-9). There will be a little doorway pass with some torches nearby. This is where De'Vyu Headhunter spawns, and depending on your alliance you may have to fight him numerous times. He usually drops 3 Quadav Charms, but since we had two alliances he did drop 2 and then 4 once. However, 3 seems to be the median. His respawn time seems to be just about 15 minutes even, as we timed it when we had to kill him 8 times.

After every person has a charm, let's head back north to the starting area, but STAY ON THE LEDGE. You need to follow the ridge again until you get to (F-6), which is right by the entrance. At (F-6), near the two huts on the ledge, is where Go'Bhu Gascon will spawn. He drops the Quadav Augury Shell, the last of the two items needed, and like De'Vyu Headhunter, he drops a median of 3 shells per fight. His respawn time seems to be just about 15 minutes as well.

Once everyone has a Quadav Charm and a Quadav Augury Shell, head back to Jeuno. Enter the Neptune's Spire again and trade the items *ONE at a time* to Sattal-Mansa. For some reason, if you trade him both at the same time (this happened to one of our members), he gives you the key item for the first item put in. He also takes the second item, but doesn't give you credit for it, so you'll have to go back to fight one of the two named Quadav to get another one.

After everyone has their two key items, head back to Beadeaux. Head to the the Qulun Dome as mentioned above. There's nothing in here, so just follow this to the hollowed out bone wall. Activate the Magicite, and watch the cutscene. Once everyone is done with that and received Magicite: Aurastone, warp back to Jeuno.

Jeuno

Head back to the Archduke and a cutscene will play. He will give you your airship pass! Then, head to your embassy and talk to the person behind the counter. You will then be recognized as having achieved Rank 5 and will be awarded 10,000gil as well! The assistant to the ambassador will then order you home.

If you already have an airship pass (for whatever reason), the Duke will give you an additional 20,000 gil, in addition to the 10,000 gil you receive from the embassy.

I did the mission during the weekend and i want to share my thoughts about it.

1- Yes it is indeed a long mission. It took me half a day to do it.

2- I soloed most of it ^^ and i'm whm lvl 36.

With snek invis on and the very good walkthrought stated at the beginning if all you need and maybe a high lvl friend at the end. :)

All the magicites you can go there with sneak invis on. It's pretty easy. In fact i think the mission is damn easy. just long...

The only part where you need help is to get the 2 items from the Quadavs in Beadaux. I had a ls friend , lvl 63 pld to help me and he killed both quadavs really easily. :)

Whm can do this mission really easily :) Good luck ^^

5 people and I, attempted this mission for the first time, with no map. It took us excatly 9 hours. But, we did mess up the first time (went the wrong way in Castle Otroja). We were level 42 i think, at the time. So make sure U start this one early, it you plan on finishing it in one day. :D

If you trade both items at once, you will only receive 1 of the key items needed to get the magicite, and the second item will be lost.
You have to trade each item separately to the tenshodo otherwise you have to go and kill the NMs again until you get the drop.

I am a lev43/21 SAM/WAR and my friend and I just completed the Castle Oz part of this mission last night! He is a lev46/23 DRG/WAR. We ended up getting some help from a lev65 japanese THF/WAR that was really bored from waiting on the NM's spawns. So to our luck we go to do it.
Pretty much after we got through the 1st door, we got aggro from everything there on to the magicite. Everything registered to me as EP all the way to the last room where the harder Yagudos are. Then they were up to EM and T.
With no sneak or Inv we had to kill everything on the way there. Had absolutely no problems doing it.
Then to top it off (since I forgot warp scroll and our lev65 thf didnt have a map to get out) we ended up just running all the way back out with the BIGGEST train I have ever seen. (And my buddy got a snapshot of it lmao)
Hope this helps to anyone who is planning on pursuing this part of the mission soon around my level! Take care all!

Got Rank 4 two days ago.

And LS Mate (lvl 61 thf) came on asking if anyone wanted anything done. So I asked them to kill the 2 NM so I didn't have to, me being the lowly 36 whm. Took about 30 minutes to get the charm and shell. Then warped back to jeuno.
Traded in a bunch of earth crystals. Activated the quest and got all the key items.

Last night I decided to make the ninja run at the 3 areas.

Bedeaux, real easy since i didn't have to deal with any afflictors and made it with just sneak

Davoi, Made it while sneak/invis. Got aggro at wall of evil. Only took 105 hp from a Banish II before zone.

This point I had speant an hour on getting the magicites and made it to Castle Birdhouse.

Castle was a pain in the rear. No map only online copy. I went to the wrong inside ledge got trapped inside a room with two ITs at one point and had to go un-invis to trigger a lever.

But after about 50 minutes I finally made it up to the torch lighting place.

At my last rest stop, I wasn't taking any chances.

I put up Protect II, Shelra, Blink, Aquaveil, Stoneskin. then rested mana back some, then sneak/invis with enough mana left for an emergency warp.

I univis next to the torch, and it took me 5 tries to light the torch kept saying it was too far away. Finally lets me through and i get an aggro taking out my blink.

I become stupid for a minute and try to re invis/sneak on other side of door, forgetting that monsters have "ignore door" abilities.

So there starts the mad dash for the zone. Managed to get to the door, open it and dive into zone with probably 5 angry birds on my heels.

Made it with my heart pumping. As reraise had chosen that point to wear off in the chase.

but I was in the safety of the empty area enjoy the cutscene.

My health when all was said and done. 105/505

Thank god I put up stoneskin.

But enjoyed more cutscenes then warped home for my gil and airship pass.

Oh yeah an odd bit of luck. At the first door, I chose the wrong handle. And trap door opened up. I however was not over it. I somehow triggered the handle and was far enough to the right (Right was wrong and left was right in my case) That i didn't actually fall in.

Haha, I just did the mission tonight as a 34RDM, and my story went very similar to yours. I had a level 56 helping me out, but he fell through the hole in the floor at the door, so I was all alone from that point on. I sneak/invis'd the whole way through, until I eventually got to the torch stands. I took a deep breath, had my LS wish me luck, then casted stoneskin and blink, and took a dash for the door. Keep in mind I only had about 430 hp, and the only armor I was wearing was a Yukata (DEF: 1) since I didn't plan on doing any fighting or getting aggroed. I light the torch, open the door, run past 4 more birds, and zone. My heart is pounding as the next zone loads. I finally pop out on the other side with 31 hp left! I was the happiest person on the planet. As you said, thank god for stoneskin.

Just FYI, the walkthrough says that if you don't trade the Quadav items you get from the NMs to the Taru in Tenshodo seperately, you'll loose one of the items. This is not true. I accidently did this (mainly 'cause I didn't read the walkthrough above closely enough). I only got one key item, but got the unused Quadav Charm returned to my inventory.

I didn't finish the mission last night because I screwed this part up...but all I have to do is go back to Jeuno and trade that last item in for the last key item.

I always like a challenge so I tried to solo this Mission as a level 27 White Mage.

Davoi was too easy. Sneak and Invisible and the magicite was mine.

Oztraja started out pretty easily too. I got to the first door and didn't want to turn off Invisible due to a Yaguda patrol then a high level Red Mage came by, opened the door and I snuck in right behind him. Unfortunately, I didn't have the same luck at the second door...I was killed by the Yaguda guarding the door as I attempted to light the torches.

So, I'm going to try again as Beastmaster (37) with some Silent Oil and Prism Powder this time. I figure I can draw off the Yaguda guards with a Familiar then run through. I'll probably end up dead again but I have to try.

Still haven't done Beaudeaux but planning to soon. If anybody is on Ifrit and plans to do this mission this weekend, send a /tell to Raife. Thanks.

Jus completed this mission last night as a 32Rdm/16Whm. I soloed everything except for the named mob fights which I had my lvl 60 friend help me kill(ok...he did it himself...I jus stayed alive.) I only died once due to agro in Oztroja. All in all, it's extremely easy for Rdm/Whm post 25 as long as you have help for the name spawns in Beadeaux. Good luck. :)

Whoever says you can solo this mission past the NM's is full of compleat sh*t. There are always 2 mobs that check Easy prey to a level 50whm by the door and you have to turn off invisible to activate it= Death if your not lucky with warp...twice like i was. Oh and to the Blms, these mobs are MNK/RNG/NIN or Bard class. they hit way too fast for you to get off any spells that would kill them.

just bring one 50+ melee along or 2 40s, otherwise forget it if your a mage.

Finally got this mission complete today.
I had help with Davoi a while back 'coz I had no map, and I completely solo'd Oztroja the other day.

Today I had help from a couple people for fighting the two nm's in beadeaux, and now I finally have my airship pass.

Solo'd
# Jun 22 2004 at 1:19 PM Rating: Default
I solo'd this mission as lvl 41 BLM/WHM. I had to bring along invisible powders because I couldn't cast invisible on myself, but at least I had sneak. The Davoi part is a piece of cake, Beadeaux was pretty easy as well except for the NMs.

I sneak/invis myself up to the NM (most quads on the ground were too weak but the ones on the top part of the dungeon were DC.) Once I got there I did a couple /shout Help Me Out... after 2 of these (the second one I decided to include a reward) a nin55/thf ran by and completely tore the NMs up. She was nice enough to not accept my reward even. I guess she felt a little bad for me since she left her PT to do it for me.

The castle on the other hand was a major pain. Nothing on the first floor aggro'd but the second floor was a different story. (no pun intended) I got aggro all over the place. Yags came out of no where to kill me three times. The last time I got invited to a PT but was almost to the torch door (by the way it's actually a BRASS DOOR but there are tourches next to it - this made me die once too because I didn't realize I was at the right door)

So in reality this mission is probably easier to do solo if you're rich enough to buy sneak/invis or have a WHM that can do it. Personally I think it's always easier to solo things like this if you don't have to fight a monster. Even then there is a good chance that a high lvl will be farming these areas since the drops are pretty good.
