Chains of Promathia Promotion

I just wanted to remind everyone about our promotion through EBGames.com. Ordering the expansion through EBGames.com will get you a coupon code good for a free 30 day trial membership to our site. This lets you try out our premium features, and also helps to support the site. Since you can order it online and still pick it up at your local store if you want, this gives you a bonus that you cannot get anywhere else for ordering a game that you wanted to get in the first place. Please be sure to take advantage of it. (Alternatively, if you are already a premium member, don't forget to use your 10% discount coupon when you order the game) Here are the links to place your orders:

If you are a premium member, go to the link on the left called User Account. Look for a box on the right hand side for the code.

You only get the code if you order it online and have it delivered. To my knowledge...

Yeah, I am actually quite pissed at this new info that has come to light. I ordered the expansion pack, but want to pick it up since I know how long the Post Office can take. No where in the offer does it say "if you have it delivered", I would like an explanation for this, otherwise I'll just cancel the online order and pick it up my damn self.

Yeah I emailed EBgames and I was told that after I ordered it... But that really is not fair. You should be able to get the code if you do the instore pick up. What they should of done was not avertise the in store pick up when they were explaining about the code! That is false avertising!

The in store pickup is something new they have added since we reached our deal with them for the coupon. I tried to get them to extend the coupon to in-store pickup. It was explained to me that with most Electronic Boutiques in malls, they have to pay a share of their sales as rent on store sales and thus, 10% puts them below their profit margin for store sales. Sorry.

Yes, but I'm not looking for the 10% off, I'm looking for the 1 month membership to this site. Is THAT still possible? Because it seems that the free membership you offer, would not affect EB's sales in the slightest

It has some thing to do with the EB online being a seperate "store" with seperate deals compared to the physical stores. I called an EB this past weekend to see if they offered the coupon on pre-orders and they didn't. I imagine the in-store pick up is more of a way for pre-ordering in physical stores online rather than pre-ordering from EBgames.com. However, that is kind of a flawed system, imho, since you're ordering and paying EBgames.com. The coupon is suppose to come when you get a confirmation email so perhaps you do get it if you in-store pick up (I haven't pre-ordered yet).

I'm kind of ignoring the whole pre-order bonus stuff. While it will be a nice surprise if I get it, I'd rather pick up my game in a store (either through online ordering or physical pre-ordering). Higher chance of getting it release day. Plus, EB has yet to add a 30day Alla coupon offer to the expansion's PS2 page so if PS2 people will get the coupon.

As a former Store Manager I can honestly tell you that many (and I do mean many) of EB Games' policies are screwed up. Each store is driven independently by its local competitors which is good. Each store is also kept very individual as far as SOP, etc. In fact, until a few months ago, EB games did not offer a viewable SOP for employees to read. Granted a monkey could use the checkout system, but standard regulatory accounting procedures varied greatly from store to store.
And yes, it is true that each store is supposed to be 'self sufficient' in profits and expenses and therefore cannot always offer the same promotions and prices.
The sad thing is that a majority of EB Games locations (primarily those with more than 3-4 employees), lose 33% of thier inventory a quarter do to various internal theft/giving away items/incorrect transactions. So next time you check out that 10% off Used games, or 15% off whatever game guide, etc. Check the price tag first. Chances are you'll be paying for your 'discount', and Wal-mart, Target, Circut City, Best Buy, etc. up the street will have the same item for 25% less anyway. Granted EB will match the price but then once again whats the point in discounts? Why not save the trouble and just buy it from the competitor...?
A reason they can get away with this is also because oftentimes they do have the games before anyone else.
And about the EBGames Online Store... the store is great but the prices are very high on most merchandise, as are the stores, the internet prices SHOULD be cheaper as there is virtually no operating costs to sell online. Hell people, at least do free standard shipping!

But, after saying all that, EB Games is a really fun and laid back place to work, but if you do work there, please remember that if you take things from the company, you are only making it worse on your fellow gamers.

    Happy gaming! ^^

I am told they will still send out 30 day coupons for orders made for in-game pickup, so yes you get the 30 days free even if you opt to pick up in store. It is just the 10% discount that's limited to online orders.

I am having the same problem. I ordered COP and picked it up at my local EBGames, expecting the free month's subscription to this site. I never received a "code" in my e-mail; I'm guessing I tossed it accidentally. What do I need to do (who should i contact) for the subscription?
