Xhifhut Body
By far, the Xhifhut Body and Bow are the hardest to get. I personally farmed for these last two items for 2 years (no joke... man I wish I was joking). They are hard to get because they are such very rare drops.
First got the Head and Strings while EXPing and helping people out farming testimonies. Way back when I first got a Xhifhut item I was planning on using the mantle for my MNK (+5 Attack was about the best you could get at that level at that time without spending a huge amount of money). By the time I finally got the drop, I'd already taken a couple more jobs to 75, and have much better items :-P
The Bow drops from the PLD Ants in Western Altepa in the area around E-6 to G-5. Took me about 6 months of farming weekly to get that damned drop.
There are Lanistas around these PLD ants, however, after a year of farming those semi-weekly, I never got the body to drop. Not once. So don't even try it.
I also tried farming Signifiers in the caves all over the place. Again, no drop. Finally went to cave entrance at J-9 in Western Altepa and fought the Sigs in there. After many hours, we finally got it to drop.
In other words, take it from me and don't waste your time farming Lanistas... at all. I'm reasonably convinced they don't really drop this damned thing. And, if they do, the only ones that drop it are in some obscure part of the desert that is impractical to get to.
Instead, focus on the Sigs in the cave zone from J-9. Specifically, you want the map where you spawn the NM "Tribunus VII-I". Go in there and kill all the Sigs you can find. Eventually, it will drop.

Which do the strings drop from? I've been looking for a long time and both of those translations say 2 different places. One says Aedilis, and one says Veles. Does anyone know for sure?

i'm not sure where u got this information but it was very useful, ty, also for where i got drops...
NM is only the nm and it pops in the NW of Revelation Rock entrance to the HL ant area, there i found aedilis as well but no drops on the strings yet, gonna search for another area for aedilis.
For antican hoplomachus i went to western altep by the D-12 area, there's some roaming around in the cave there and after the cave where u find the Giant Bird, there's some around there as well.
Antican signifier, this one was tricky, as there are alot of signifiers in QC, only some drop them, i found them in the entrance SW of revelation rock.

I got one of these from Antican Signifier. I was just in a lvl 50-51 pt. what are these things used for?
I got the Xhifhut Body off an Ant in J-5. Unfortunately, I don't remember which kind. I entered from Western Altepa at J-9.

Yah, I got the Head piece at quicksand caves off of Hastatus XI-XII. A part of 58-60 should be able to take him out with easily. Although I'm not sure whats the award for this quest, or even where the quest starts from. ><

man i wish i knew what this was for before hand. i had 3 of the 4 parts and dropped them not realizing what it was for.
Other anticans can drop the items and even in different areas.
Partied in Quicksand Caves recently.

Just to add to that great info, you will be given the location of a treasure through a green dot. You'll need a pickaxe to excavate at the ???.
There is a Goblin in one of the two desert areas that offers to make you some sort of translator if you bring him 3 xhifut items. I got the string, but the things don't drop often so the quest probably isn't easy to finish and I have no idea what the reward is.

I have one too. I was hoping to find out about it : (... i know nothing i just know its rare EX and i got it of the princeps in quicksand caves also.. hope someone can tell us soon.

I was happy to see this on the 'new item' list, assuming I'd finally be able to figure out what I can use it for. However, the only information given is that it's an inventory item. Joy. Incredibly informative.
Anyway, I will say that these drop off the Antica in Quicksand Caves--namely the more difficult ones (Principes and those of comperable level). Uncertain if they drop off others or those at different difficulties.

Given it's rare/ex I'd probably assume it's used in a quest of some sort, although I have no clue which it might be, be it listed on this site or not. Anyone else with additional information, please do share ^^

My party found something like this from fighting the weaker Anticans in Quicksand Caves. (The ones that are good exp at 51). It might not have been the body, but it was definately Xhifut. Although I didn't get the item, it'd be nice to know what it is used for.
