Description

Revelation Rock, once revered as a spiritual place among the Galka, anchors the sandy region known as Western Altepa Desert. This area covers the western half of Zepwell Island, which the Galka once called home before being forced out by the Anticans. Now the only settlement nearby is the oasis village of Rabao.

Points of Interest

  • The ??? is the spawn location of Maharaja, the ground strike weaponskill NM.
  • Korroloka Tunnel is accessible from a tunnel at M-8.
  • A secret tunnel at D-11 leads to the southwestern most corner of the map.

Map

The Map of the Kuzotz region can be purchased for 3,000 gil from Ashu Bolkhomo in Rabao.

I heard that one of these deserts is good for someone of my level to gain exp, but I forget which one it is. Also, how dangerous is it for someone with my stats to travel alone? Someone mentioned something about silent oils or some such thing. I am in Bastok now and plan to seek a party over the next day or two to try and level. I am determined to get through mission 3-3 at Delkfutt's Tower.:-)

Thanks

Someday by my hands the Antican will be wiped cleaned from Our lands. Join with me brothers and let us take back Our home lands. I ask of the Square-Enix, allow us the Galka to unite and retake our lands. Justice must be served!

I will head your call to fight any and all Antica. Though I may be but a blip on their radar now, I will grow and I will fight until my very name drives fear into their Black Hearts and the site of a Mighty Galka is burned in fear into their collective. Until a ferocious terror is instilled within their evil souls so that none of their filthy race may walk Vana'diel without the fear of DEATH from above.

From the Heavens we shall cometh until our lands are cleansed of this scourge!

Seek me out within the land of Siren. Wear our pearl as a mark for all to see, "We stand united. Tomorrow will be OURS once more If your world is not mine then begin your own movement Brother. Establish your own "PrideoftheGalka" and set forth to spread thine word. Their time is up. OUR TIME IS NOW!!!

    leveling in Western Altepa Desert
    # Feb 25 2005 at 11:31 AM Rating: Decent
Try the Revelation Rock as leveling camp for levels 41-44. Maybe the level span is greater but i can not confirm this. Go for the beetles there, just watch out for a pop, because they link quite fast and nasty. Camp is set up in the ways going up the Revelation Rock, most of the time north eastern facing. Before coming trying to catch a party for here, get yourself the Altepa Gate Crystal. Party goes there by teleport-Altep in eastern Altepa dessert ---> Western Altepa Dessert ----> Rabao -----> Chocobo -----> Revelation Rock

Has anyone tested this spot for lvl 25-30? I'd really like an alternative to kazham :(

I'm a lvl 25 RDM, all blinged out and stocked to the cap w/ spells, but from what I'm hearing, is a spider all that bad wih the proper debuffs?
    RE: Is it worth it?
    # Jan 07 2005 at 3:40 PM Rating: Decent
My Static party (PLD WHM BRD THF DRK and one pick up) came here to level at 25, and the exp stayed good enough to get to 29ish before we started looking for another area. The spiders are fairly easy, aside from a nasty TP move that can one-shot a poorly equiped tank (our Hume PLD was excellently equipped and was brought into the red nearly every time). \

The spiders don't aggro, but they link, so bring along someone to sleep just in case.

    :GETTING TO THE CRAIG CRYSTAL
    :GETTING TO RABAO
:GETTING THE MAPS YOU WISH YOU HAD
IN THE FIRST PLACE SO YOU COULD GET
    THERE
    -------------------------------------------------

*First find your way thruogh korroloka
(You get there from bastok threw the zuruhn mines when you get to korroloka just follow the middle until the end take a left then another left and you find yourself in eastern altepa.)
*When you arrive in eastern altepa you will be in J-8. If you refer to the this link and click the east altepa link. http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/areas.html? you'll see a smaller couldersack looking part in J-8.
*Now just to get you an idea of where your going look at the map in the link again and look at G-6 right along the lower line forming the square G-6. You see that little "~" shaped thingy. Thats pretty much where your headed.
*Allright but you dont have a map, no problem. Just follow along the wall heading north(hence the area your going to is NW of you. Just keep following whatching out for just about everything but the spider's and beetles, typing <pos> along your way to check your progress. Refer to the map in the link while you are doing this just incase.
*When you get to I-6 you can pretty much just start heading due west, you'll go thru H-6 then finally hit G-6. When you get to G-6 look around, it is south from the egde of the mountian line youve been walking along. It is not very far from the mountain line just look around.
*What your looking for is kind of a big hole its got 2 stairways that lead down to the crystal. I'd say in real life the small valley, if you wanna call it that, would be about 30ft deep I guess. On the stairs, that you should see first there will almost always be 2 of those anti guys. Don't go that way, unless you can take two. Walk around the valley,it's small, to the other stairs. Go down these, there may or may not be one on this side. I usually see it get killed often so if you wait someone will probably attack it. Then your safe go get your crystal.
*Now for getting to west altepa to get to rabao, head back along the mountain line the way you came. Going back in a north eastern fashion. Hug the wall this time follow all the curves, minus if you have to share that edge with some monster that might not appreciate you being there. Walk around him. Then keep following the egde until you get to I-6. You'll notice your in whats like a big couldersack thingy. Head deeper into towards the back western side. You'll see a small little opening, walk through there, and there will be a cave. Thats where the zone is to get to western altepa.
*Once in western altepa you've basically made it to rabao. You'll enter into west altepa at K-7. Look in this link and click on west altepa to get an idea of what you have to do.
    http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/areas.html?
You basically just go north. Go north thruogh k-6 and then k-5 and just like the zone to west altepa it will be a small opening to get to the zone for rabao.
*Once in rabao your ganna want to get the maps, that you wish you already had. Go past the little hp thing and chocobo guy you end up seeing the mooglies right by a pond with a few tents spread out. Well if you look to east you will see a wooden fence, its kinda tall you won't be able to see over it. It's in the opening between the mountian edges. Walk through the wooden fence opening and look ahead. You will see two tents, in between them is an npc named Ashu Bulkhomo. Now you are set.

Please, I tried to make this detailed, if it helps you please rate me up. I learned how to get there doing this with no sneak, no invis, no escort, and had no clue where anything was at all(never had even seen altep before). I just ran around typing <pos> and just figured out the layout and got my sense of direction doing that. Eventually I found it and the zone to west(wich I actually found first, before the craig) and then the zone to rabao. Where I had an ls member tell me the name of the npc and gave me and idea where they were. My ls is great! :) I was very irritated with the people there. No help at all, nobody would even tell me the name of the npc, direction of zones or the craig, nothing. I hope you all find this useful.

Jeff, that is one of the most helpful posts I've ever seen here. Another rate-up. (OK, I haven't put it to use yet, but I checked your text against the maps, which I printed out for use during the "blind" phase, and I'm confident I will make it. Especially since I can cast Sneak and may take a couple of Prism Powders for added safety.)

It really bugs me that SE didn't place a map-selling NPC for this area in Bastok. I recognize that they want to challenge us by making us either "walk blind" or get an escort, but ... how about charging 6000 in Bastok and only 3000 in Rabao? Oh well.

    # Oct 12 2004 at 6:50 AM Rating: Decent
There is a Door marked Altepa Gate in the Western Altepa Desert, but this has nothing to do with Teleportation. It is a Door that needs to be opend by accessing 4 different colored Columns.

The Altepa Gate Crystal (Telepoint) is located in the Eastern Altepa Desert, but is only accessible in the Northern part of it. The Eastern Altepa Desert is split in much the same way as North Gustaberg.

After being incrediably confused and frustrated, I felt the need to clarify.

THE ALTEPA GATE CRYSTAL IS IN EASTERN ALTEPA DESERT.

It is between the G-6 and G-7.

    Thank you.

it is not a crag. It is in g-5/6, down a little staircase where there is a purple telecrystal.

Look at the map up there at g-5/6 and there is a little L shapped mark. It is there.

As noted before, you can obtain maps from an NPC that's standing in between the two AH tents. Definitely worth it because they include the mine tunnels

K-5, that little outcropping you see on the map. Really close to East Altepa zone. In fact, Bastok -> Rabao is a surprisingly short run once you don't get aggroed in Korolokka, faster than Bastok -> Valkurm imho.
