In-Game TextDescriptionMashuu-Ajuu (k-6) wants you help with his horticultural homework assignment. He asks that you use "Herb Seeds" to grow something that will impress his classmates, such as a "Sobbing Fungus." and gives you a bag of herb seeds. You go buy a flower pot, and plant the seeds, in about 3 days real time you have a plant. I couldn't grow sobbing fungus, I grew ice crystals with the bag that he gave me, so I went to the AH and bought some Sobbing Fungus for 500gil. Well when I returned to him and gave him the sobbing fungus he replied with. "Humph! You only brought me what I asked for... I guess it would have been expecting too much for anything more than that, huh? Stick to adventuring next time..." and gave me 500 gil and a "Stationery Set." which is a furnishing for my apartment. (identified as "A Bastokan stationery set." If you grow him a Deathball he will give you 700 gil. Earthen pot cheapest at Ensasa's Catalyst Shop in Windurst Waters. Usually cheaper than AH by couple hundred gil.

I used an earthen pot and fed the plant a dark crystal, and ended up with a Deathshroom. The kid loved it and gave me the stationery + 700 gil.

Uhm, the first plant I grew gave me ice crystals. I tried giving him ice crystals but that didn't work, I'm working on growing one of those sleeping mushrooms right now... we'll see what he gives me for that.
Also after a little while the stationary set that the kid gave me made my moogle write me a song. So that was cool. level 16 bard song. forget the name.

I got 4 sprigs of sage using an earthen pot and a wind crystal. He wouldnt accept it though

Wow...thanks a lot. I've been looking for this NPC. For some reason...I had the location A-13 written down next to his name. I think I was drunk then, when I was writing down quests that I was able to do. When I looked at the map, there was nothing at A-13, but these directions are almost perfect. Thanks lot.
he asks for a sobbing fungus but can u give him something else and get a different reward? has anyone tried? and also i would like some info on gardening if anyone knows a good info site for it please let me know.

maybe its called reap what you sew, because he had to sew to make part of the furniture

To get the Sobbing Fungus use a Lightening Crystal. :)

excellent! thank you for the gardening tips. they are very hard to come by!
add: Lightning crystals can be obtained from gardening, I got them from planting the herb seeds with earth crystals. Or from Goblin Fishers.
note: the gardening results are not constant. I think the moon phases has something to do with it, but haven't had time to comfirm.
