oops its +10 healing, not 15, ma bad
rdm main healing
# Sep 28 2007 at 1:55 AM Rating: Decent
as a RDM, would it be better to main heal in this body piece for +10MND or should the RDM Duelist body armor with +10 healing and fast cast be better? Overall, I'm just looking at what will cure the most HP with cure III and IV, along with other MND gear (earrings/rings), in one cast. Although fast cast is good, I still have my rdm hat to make up for it, so thought the mnd from errant body would be better. Any ideas?

Black Cloak vs. Errant Hpl. MP Regen Test

Here's the setup for the test:
BLM75/WHM37
Black Cloak / Errant Hpl.
Hierarch Belt
Baron's Slops
Pluto's Staff

Objective:
Record the time it takes for someone to regen 0 -> 900MP while sitting.

Results:
Black Cloak (3 trials average): ~2:44
Errant Hpl. (3 trials average): ~2:32

Conclusion:
Most BLMs have their Black Cloak at 68 and keep it until 72 when they're debating whether to buy an Errant Hpl. But unless you're planning to sit to med over 2 minutes, there's very little tangible difference between Black Cloak and Errant body if you're using either of them for MP regen purposes. So if you're strapped for cash, I recommend keeping your Black Cloak because you can regen while running.

Of course this also applies if you have any other type of Refresh armor like Royal Cloak.

There's no need to test this.

A simple calculation will suffice to point out that Errant Houppelande is better than Black Cloak.

MP Regeneration goes in ticks of 10 seconds, with the first tick being 20. Refresh ticks are 3 seconds.

The first 30 seconds of resting would be:
Black Cloak: 10 ticks = 10 * 1 = +10MP
Errant Hpl.: 2 ticks = 2 * 5 = +10MP

After that each 30 seconds of resting would be:
Black Cloak: 10 ticks = 10 * 1 = +10MP
Errant Hpl.: 3 ticks = 3 * 5 = +15MP

Of course, if you wanted, you could swap them as you rest, so you're wearing Errant Hpl. when the tick goes off, then switch to Black Cloak for 2 or 3 refresh ticks, switch back to Errant Hpl. etc. But that's just too tedious for me =)

its just a game this isn't a science lab. Thats really nerdy of u guys, just play the game and stop trying to make all these calculations because alot of people like to find out and stuff but either way theres nonthing you can do.

So stop posting all this 3.32 bull crap ok thats like college work over a damn game.

Don't whine just because others are thoughtful enough to simplify matters by breaking them down into mathematics.

Both of those were actually useful posts, providing a simple breakdown of how each would benefit the user's MP recovery. Rateup for you both.

Looks like Midgards prices are on the cheap end of the spectrum. Just bought the full set for the following:

Head: 15k
Body: 500k
Hands: 70k
Legs: 10k
Feet: 20k

Total: 615k Set
Cheap?

I didn't bother with head but for Hades its:

Body: 180k
Hands: 90k (some **** spiked the price...used to be 35k)
Legs: 20k
Feet: 20k

HQ are all like 1-10mil lol.

Having 2 jobs that can wear this (WHM and BLM), I have my personal view on this armor.

WHM: Great for resting, great for macroing in to help enfeebles (well, the AF body does give enfeebling skill+... so...) and divine magic (banish 3 comes to mind here). If you're curing, wear noble's tunic if you have it. It's the best thing to use, hands down, +10% more curing power > +10 MND.

BLM: Great to use, period. At 72 I immediately put this on and used it until I hit 73 (I have Igqira Weskit which, although gives no +INT, produces greater DMG output with the magic attack bonus, also gives elemental skill+). I still macro it in for resting. This with cookies, hierarch belt, and dark/pluto's staff eats downtime for BREAKFAST, like an earlier poster nicely pointed out. :P Oh, and I'd keep black cloak too. It isn't useless even at 75... though it isn't as useful as it is at 68+.

As RDM I'd picture this useful, but only in certain situations. I'd rather wear the tabard for enfeebing magic skill+. But for resting, this is a godsend.

For BRD it's nice for the CHR+10.

For SMN I'd only use this when resting. Not really useful other than that.
RE: Good, but...
# Jun 16 2006 at 7:48 AM Rating: Decent
For rdm, if you can easily land enfeebles on the mobs your fighting, this is the thing to go with, i'd only equip the tabard over this for something such as gravity or sleep

Hell yeah it is. I bought the whole set about a month ago.

Head: ~20k

Hands: ~200k
Legs: ~10k
Feet: ~18k

Not much difference in the head, legs, and feet. But OUCH on the body and hands. >.<

from the moment i first saw this armor, it represented high-leveldom to me. it was always infinitely far away. so, being a 61 smn, and a 62/63 (constantly dlvling) rdm, i bought it. i now have it as motivation. counting down the xp by the thousands till i can use it..

Just a little note for RDM looking at this gear, you want to use this when your resting and when nuking, otherwise stick with your RDM AF tabard for casting enfeebles, +skill always relates to the sticking power, stack on +int/mnd in other area's to push the power of the spell up.
Guess what?
# Mar 10 2005 at 9:25 PM Rating: Decent
This armor statisticly (did i spell that right?) owell anyways it has the best INT Boost for armor in the game, ya thats right i did my homework, Im all about the damage, this armor kicks ***, oh sure you may be sacrificing str dex vit and agi but who needs them when your a blm, + (The awesome benifit to this is that you can use head gear) and if I'm correct, demon helm would be a kick *** combo since all races can use and it also has the best INT for helm in game :)

1) This isn't a waste of money. Even if/when you get a better piece of body equip, it would be a wise choice to add this into your MP resting macro. MP+5 while healing + Dark Staff eats downtime for BREAKFAST.

2) It all depends on your job. For a BLM, you probably want to switch between nuking with a Black Cloak (max Ele Skill+ for low resist) and Igqira Weskit (max Magic Attk Bonus+ for strong nukes) depending on situation. I wouldn't know about other jobs.
Errant owns you
# Nov 23 2004 at 4:22 PM Rating: Decent
this armor owns. I say no more and I'd take this over the black cloak anyday for nuking at this level in the game. damage yes please

# Oct 14 2004 at 1:00 PM Rating: Decent
Just bought this last night after i lvld. With it equipped im sitting at +38 INT, +22 MND, +22 CHR which are all good. And yes, this gear does suck if you want to solo, so i keep my RDM AF handy to switch in between depending on situation.

I bought all 4 pieces [minus the hat] for about 230K at the AH [Shiva Server].
I looks good and it works. Get it, its worth it.

Good for resting

I just got the Errant Houppelande. It's decent for recovering Mp while resting especially coupled with the Dark Staff. I also keep my AF Robe around as well as a Black Cotehardie to change robes when the situation arises. I usually rest with this on, and then change to the AF robe or Cotehardie when I'm not resting. The negative stat effects are pretty severe, so I only use this robe to rest.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 04 2004 at 3:21 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I wouldent suggest this gear to anyone there is better gear out there this +10 int mnd and chr is only usefull to a bard there is better gear out there for mages the subtractions arent worth the additions its not bad for bard depending on where and when you use it you wont find much gear with + 10 CHR so its not bad but thwere much better gear!

There are other jobs too that need these stats.
Like Rdm could equip it when they nuke (if blm is subbed). etc...

Bah, CHR is for BLM's also. It effects things like poison and other enfeebles. SE said something about it once when an update came out or something. I would wear this as a BLM for casting and resting imho. My level is'nt quite there yet though >.<

I tried to find the said interview but found nothing. It seems that most people believe MND has an effect on enfeebles. But who knows. I could not find any solid proof. I would imagine though that chr would help with sleep spells if anything.

For RDM and BLM:
INT helps to make enfeebles stick longer, MND helps to resist them. CHA helps certain weaponskills.

Not exactly..

MND helps White Magic debuffs stick and proc more often
INT helps Black Magic debuffs stick and proc more often

Enfeebling/Elemental Skill helps the "stickiness" of spells more than either of them.

I'm pretty certain CHR has nothing to do with anything an RDM is doing in an XP party. I know it affects Dancing Edge and maybe even a WS that is RDM-useable, but has nothing to do with any magic at all (including posion.)

No, that is indeed Japanese. You might just need to:

(For Windows XP)
View --> Encoding --> Japanese(Auto-Select)

However, you will need to have the Japanese characters downloaded (think it comes pre-) on your comp.
possible recipe?

I saw some extremely high level character combining these in Jeuno. Didn't see the crystal he used (probably earth) and it's most likely clothcraft.

He failed once and lost the following:
1 Gold Chain
1 Rainbow Thread
1 Silk Cloth
1 Rainbow Cloth
1 Ram Leather

This may not be the complete ingredient list.
Crafted?

I'm shamelessly ganking this information from Wolfsfable's Recipe Wishlist thread, so credit goes to him for this information. I originally found the recipe on the Mystery Tour website, but this is a lot more detailed:

Earrant Houppelande
Required Skills
Clothworking: 96
Goldsmithing: 60
Leatherworking: 53

Crystal: Earth

Ingredients
Gold Chain x1
Rainbow Cloth x2
Rainbow Thread x1
Velvet Cloth x1
Silk Cloth x2
Ram Leather x1

Wolfsfable's Details
The sandard version is the -7's +10's to stats that you see in the picture. The +1 version of this garment has -8's +11's to the stats.

I tell ya, I'm just too damn good. ^^

I'll say! Thanks for the recipe!
