i was escorting an LS member lvl10 to valkrum dunes, then his ram poped i couldnt just leav it pass me by , so i started attacking it (43 PLD/war) it died in like 23 sec and i got this and 2 skinns gave my friend the skinn and now i got what ever this is

Did this without much trouble as a 42RDM/BLM.
Teleport to La Theine, walked to the area where the Rams are, and ran into one pretty much instantly. Killed it but no drop. Had to wait for another two to spawn before I managed to get the Lanolin drop, but it wasn't too bad with 3 Ram Horns and 4 Ram Skins thrown in too :-)

Killed 4 battering Rams for a grand Total of:

Have 15 of these stupid things and wondering if any other quests need them. Can't find any info. Did the candle quest long ago. Anyone know for sure if needed for any other reason?

First ram i ever soloed/killed ever droped a Lanolin cube which made me happy :) all my friends were pissed...they fought many rams and it never dropped for them...i killed it with my 28 RDM/BLM. It was so easy (of course it didn't get a chance to use Great Bleat :P) I'm just lucky I guess.

so im tryin to get a cube for the quest...in bout half an hour i go 0/4 on these stupid rams...10 skins, 3 horns, and 1 lumbering horn...no cube >.<

lol If i were you I'd be happy to get a lumbering horn over a cube...unless if you already did your purple belt quest then; yea
whm taru 24, walking to ghelsba for my key. i see this guy and attack, a rdm17 mithra walks by and i invite her for help. it drops the cube, no horns no skins, just the cube... i wasn't happy.
I just found it while I was skill upping crossbow for my theif in la thiene, battering ram pops right next to me, I decide, "Meh why not?" Kill it, got the drop!!! Strangely, it was the first one of these I've ever killed. I don't often spend time in la theine.
0/34 on Battering Rams trying to get one of these stupid things so far.
Tavnazian Ram also drop these in Lufaise Meadows. Picked up a couple in a 2-3hour xp/limit party.
Also drops off an HNM named Amaltheia.

Also drops off Tavnazian Rams in Lufaise Medows.
Got it on my fourth kill. Was a complete pushover as a 59BLM/20RNG. I subbed ranger because I had no clue where they popped.
The rams pop in 2 spots, which is west of the crag, past the lake, and up the ridge. There is a mountain range on the map, and they spawn in 2 spots around there. I didnt take any positions, but they werent that hard to find.
I got it on my fourth try, without Treasure Hunter. Also made a few thousand gil killing the rams too ^^b

I find that thise cube drops about 30-40% of the time.

Ive heard you need to complete this quest to be able to get the sleepga 2 quest. Dont know if its true but on Asura Sleepga 2 sells for a lot of gil so its always worth a shot. ^^

This item is stackable, they sell for me in sandy for 697 each.
Got this last night off the Battering Ram while hoofing it from Dunes to Sandy (had just done a quest in Selbina). Came across the Battering Ram, and had bad memories of tackling the Tremor Ram as a level 34 BLM, so I used Boost, Berserk, ate a Meat Mithkabob, hit my two hour, and pretty much killed him before he could turn on me. Dropped 2 Ram Skins and the Lanolin.

So, I was wandering through La Thiene as a level 18 Monk with pretty good gear and food. Figured I could kill a tough/low defense if I used my two-hour. Wow...talk about wrong, he hits hard. Luckily there was a high level white mage that decided I should be randomly healed. End of battle, got the cube. I guess I'm lucky. Now to walk to Jueno and do the quest....yikes :(

Also drops from the Rampaging Ram. I got one yesterday in the Highlands along with 2 ram skins 1 ram horn and 1 rampaging ram horn.
